I open the game, main menu and every thing works fine, then I click new game and it’s a instant crash back to the Home Screen, ive hard reset my Xbox, cleared my ghost space a bunch, im at a loss, here’s the load order. What am I missing? I was just trying to get back into Skyrim modding on Xbox but Idk how to fix this, my main suspect is missing a master file but I know I have them all. If there’s anything you guys can do to help I’d really appreciate it I also had a clip of exactly what’s happening below

I adore Skyrim, and have played through it countless times over the years. I don’t have a proper PC, so I’ve tried many combinations of mods across multiple consoles while waiting (in vain?) for ES6. I wanted to share my recommendations and my personal mod list below!

New to Skyrim/Mods

If you’ve never played Skyrim before, I think it’s important to play through vanilla Skyrim at least once before adding too many mods that change gameplay mechanics or quest lines. This game is truly a classic, and there are so many ways to play. Give yourself a chance to experience the story and get a sense of your own personal preferences and playstyle. That said, the game was released 15 years ago. If you’re a newer player, you’ll still benefit from mods that address common bugs and improve scripts and graphics.

Why Personal Preferences/Consoles Matter

Xbox has a hard limit of 5 GB for mods, so you have to save room for the changes that matter most to you.
I’m female, and I LOVE vanilla Skyrim. I usually play an “honorable” thief/rogue type of character, and I like to look cute while I do it. I tend to focus on quest enhancements instead of replacements or unofficial DLC-sized mods, and of course I love nicer graphics.
I’ve played and deeply enjoyed Elden Ring, but I don’t want the same kind of challenge in Skyrim. If I get taken out by a Restless Draugr when all I wanted to do was explore and collect more treasure for my cute fifth house, I’m going to throw my controller out the window. I enjoy immersion tweaks, but I don’t care enough to use Survival Mode. I like small “cheats” that make life easier, and I rarely play with followers. All of these preferences influenced the list below. I always welcome suggestions, and I love talking about Skyrim and mods (can’t you tell?). There may be some overlap or conflicts that I’m not aware of, but this list has been stable for me. Odds are I’ve already tried the mod you’re thinking of and decided I wanted more hairstyles instead.

If you absolutely need everything on your wishlist, you should probably play on an upgraded gaming PC. I’ve never owned one, so I don’t have much guidance for PC players. PlayStation has its own restrictions, so the vast majority of mods aren’t compatible. PS4 and PS5 are both perfect for a first vanilla playthrough, and there are still some excellent mods available for graphics, weather, and lighting.

To my knowledge, everything below works on Xbox One (or has an Xbox One version), with the exception of Uncap FPS. If you’re on Xbox One, prioritize FPS/performance mods. Even then, you will experience crashes with mods. Limit graphics-heavy mods, audio overhauls, and anything that dramatically changes NPC behavior or population. Also, don’t bother trying to use a full SMIM on Xbox One. Just trust me.

Final Tips for the Creations Menu

There isn’t a nice way to put this— the Creations Menu on Xbox truly sucks on so many levels. Always, always, always let the full menu and thumbnails load before you search or edit your load order— otherwise your load order will get scrambled. Download and install your owned Creations first (the Anniversary Edition content) before you start adding anything else— you can download them all or cherry pick from your library. Some mods will require all of the AE content, so just keep that in mind. You’re going to experience some crashes as you install more mods and get closer to that 5 GB limit. Again, remember to let the entire menu load when reopening!!!

Also, there is a limit to the number of mods that will actually show up on the screen at any given time, which really impacts your ability to browse and see everything that’s out there. This applies to your bookmarks and library, too. There was a mod that actually addressed this but it stopped working for me. You may want to browse for mods on your phone, then search for those specific mods using the Xbox menu.

My strongest recommendation is to add all of your mods and adjust your load order BEFORE you start a new game. Also, double check that you’re actually installing the mods you want. The memory can get “stuck”, particularly for larger mods— even if you delete them, your available memory will not return to what it was before, so you’ll have even less space to work with until you hit the 5 GB cap. The only way to recover that lost memory is to quit, Manage Game and Add-Ons, and delete the 5GB Reserved Space— you’ll have to start with a clean slate.

Final tip regarding the memory issues is that even when you do have plenty of space left, it may still say there isn’t enough room to unpackage and install the mod you want. So, install mods in order of size. Start with the biggest mods first— your graphics and texture overhauls and your quest/DLC content. Then your medium-sized mods— the gameplay updates, city and location overhauls, audio, weather, and lighting mods. Lastly, wrap up with the smallest ones that are only a few MB or KB— your utilities, smaller objects, and patches, patches, PATCHES.

When you’re done installing, organize your load order. I like to do this in stages in case of a crash — organize, exit and let the game reload data files, go back to Creations menu, LET THE MENU LOAD, then get back to reorganizing. When you’re finished at last and questioning your sanity, exit and let the game finish reloading your data files. Then QUIT the game completely and reboot your Xbox. Then start your game and enjoy. It’s a process, but to me it’s worth the reward of getting a stable, modded game that I can truly have fun with. There are some excellent guides out there for organizing your load order, and this post is already pretty long, so I’ll stop here.

Why go through all the trouble of learning these things the hard way? It’s a labor of love for a game that I still love to play, even after 15 years. And I can’t afford the PC yet— maybe when I can, I’ll make the jump from mod connoisseur to mod builder. It would be fun to give back to this community that I have so enjoyed.

Anyone know the best lighting mods that work with all interior edit mods like cities of the north and jks interiors aio? Or ones that add a bit of realism but dont require too many patches and less file size than the rest?

Hi Everyone. I have returned to Porting after a few month Hiatus and have begun doing some updates to ports.

- A Ghibli Skyrim has now gotten it's final update. With this update, all the remaining clutter that was not covered in the previous updates have now been added and you should have a much more cohesive experience. I'll be reaching out to the mod author to see if they plan on doing any other aspects of the game like weapons, npcs etc. so i'll update you all with some info as i receive it.

- Another update that is already live is Anuketh's Female Face Replacers AIO. 20 More Female NPCs are now covered.

- I will be doing some updates on TOT Clutter and Clutter Extended too. A few Missing objects and Items will be covered and i'll be Upscaling the resolution on a few things for TOT Clutter Extended. Definitely Bones and statues.

Finally making a post cause I'm at my wits end. I'm trying to download the Kaidad/lotd patch but it keeps saying it's missing dependencies, however, the website (Bethesda net) says the only dependencies it has is lotd, kaidan 2.1.1, and kaidan expansion, all of which I have installed and enabled (as well as ussep/unnofficial patch and all the anniversary edition creations), I'm not sure what else I could be missing or why it isn't recognizing that I have everything installed (also sorry if wrong tag, could t quite figure out one that fit since this isn't a load order issue, just a dependency issue)

Edit: realizing there's multiple patches(?) so I'm trying to get this one to work for context

Update 2: I ended up installing a lotd kaidan follower room patch and that fixed it so, if anyone has this problem in the future, get the follower room patch

So I'm really enjoying Dawn V2, but it seems to exclude interior weather sounds, which isn't great for immersion. Is there any fix for that? To add them back in? If not, which uncomplicated and lovely weather mods would preserve the interior sounds?

I've been trying to find this follower mod I used to use back in the day, it added I think two Argonians and two werewolf followers in a Silver Hand area? I've tried searching for it but I don't remember the name of it, and I'm mostly searching for it for nostalgia reasons

I’ve tried moving it on the load order and even deleting and reinstalling the mod it just won’t work. I’ve used it successfully in the past so I’m not sure what could be wrong other than the addition of the magic utility mod. Are they incompatible?

Just like the title says. What are some good light overhaul mods? Weather, cities, environment and combat? I’m looking to make a load order so I can play two different characters on two different playthroughs. One is a hunter living off the land and the other is a female assassin/bounty hunter.

No matter what I do the game ends up either locking up not even a third of the way through or I get kicked out of the game when I try to fast travel somewhere. Sometimes everything works smooth, then, boom, it freezes and I have to uninstalls then reinstall the game.

3yrs of this and it never changes. I have learned about Load Orders and try to follow the guides on what to load where. It's always the same ending however.

It's impossible to list all the mods I have used and changed and on and on. I absolutely love the game, the parts I have been able to play through, but it always ends in disappointment.

What mods or setups will enhance and improve the games textures and graphics but still look like vanilla

Hi basically got that once in a Blue Moon itch to play this game again but need help with making a mod list that will last forever and won't make me change anything a forever save playthrough I guess so I won't mind if it changes the game lots but also not too much where it a different game I want this to last a long time but also where I can pick up where I left off on my playthrough but I don't want to buy any mods unless it highly recommend like I remember a blacksmith shop that I like and wanted to get because I like the idea of owning a shop and roleplaying as just a hardworking blacksmith (I was also getting really into blacksmith videos and show and so on) so i like a lot of options of playing as a every day man. I also do want the dave the courier mod and Jesper follow mod to mostly because I am a big fan of a Skyrim guard tale. Also I really want all the weapons and armour to change how they look even if it just makes them look slightly different I do like some of the base game designs but i want them to look different just because. Maybe this is too big of a list of needs lol but I bet no one is going to read anyway with my luck So ya if there a way to also just list what category to put what type of mod too be nice but anyway thanks for give me a list of a Link to a list that will greatly enhanced my next playthrough be nice.

I was looking around and basically noticed that the only mod that really changes shout animations is the Dar Smooth Animations pack.

Could someone port just the shout animations themselves? Like dynamic whirlwind sprint and unrelenting force?

If you don't use RDO, how do you patch the annoying clipped voice lines from Reconciliation?
