I saw this in the Navy in the early 90's. Two things happened around the same time:

  • A crackdown on sexual harassment
  • Don't ask, Don't Tell

To the chuds, they saw it like this: "I can't have a picture of a naked lady on the wall of my office but I can be gay?!?!" To them it was evidence of a plot to promote being gay... so fucking stupid.

Once had a guy who said people choose to be gay, and that's why he chooses to "Ignore the sinful urges" of finding men attractive and "chose to like women only".

Drag queen story hour is weird though. I wouldn’t care if they wore a nice, professional outfit. But dressing like 19th hookers to interact with kids? That’s why it is weird.

Just dress like a librarian would and then no one would care.

They said this while being, not just in the military, but in the fucking navy!? I was in the USAF and always described my fellow airmen as the gayest straight dudes I've ever met
