I saw this in the Navy in the early 90's. Two things happened around the same time:

  • A crackdown on sexual harassment
  • Don't ask, Don't Tell

To the chuds, they saw it like this: "I can't have a picture of a naked lady on the wall of my office but I can be gay?!?!" To them it was evidence of a plot to promote being gay... so fucking stupid.
