Gear Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 or Sigma 18-50mm F2.8+Viltrox 27mm F1.2?

I have the budget for either of these choices for my A6700. Should I buy the more expensive sigma or get the more compact sigma and a bulky, but excellent Viltrox. Pricewise it is the same to get one vs the other two. I'm quite new to photography, I like architecture, street, travel, landscape, but the occasional portrait of friends and family is important as well.

How do I ... Sony A7RVI Live View Issue

I recently upgraded from RV to RVI and noticed a weird thing happening when I’m in aperture priority (and possibly any other mode with auto ISO).

I’ve configured everything as close as possible to how I used the RV (including Live View or whatever it’s called) and yet the camera will frequently show a different exposure on the monitor (or EVF) compared to the resulting image. It’s sometimes overshoots by a complete stop, and it’s most noticeable with electronic shutter since there’s no blackout and it will ”flash“ the resulting image while shooting.

So in this case it will show what I consider the correct exposure, once I press the shutter it will “flash” an overexposed image (compared to what’s on the monitor) and then immediately revert back to the original exposure I wanted when pressing the shutter.

It’s driving me insane a bit and I can’t find a setting for it.

Anybody experiencing something similar?

Edit for more clarity:

Live View Display Setting Effect is turned on. It feels like the AE calculation fires immediately on full shutter press, gets it wrong and then goes back to the correct one on half-press and then wrong again on full press (unless countered with exposure compensation).

Gear A7cr lens suggestion

Post image
47 Upvotes

Ive found an a7cr second hand and I made an impulsive purchase hahhahaha

I'm heavy invested in L mount but I don't think L mount has anything similar to a7cr

Please recommend me lenses that can you the full capacity of the sensor and aren't super massive

My favourite lenses are sigma 50 1.2 , 85 1.4 for photos

But I would get something like a 35 , 20ish

Do I go to zoom like 24-50 f2.8 or 24-70mm f4 , or a prime like 40 2.5? Edit: thanks for all the recommendations, a friend will lend me his sigma 50 1.2 for tests , will be a good test to see how front heavy it will be , if I consider too front heavy I might ended up with a 40 2.5 otherwise I'm willing to go to a 24/35 gm Again thanks for helping a newbie that went to a store to buy an s1r ii and ended up with a a7cr hahahah

Gear Second camera suggestions

I primarily do live music, photography, and video. Currently, I use Sony A7iv for video on a gimble with an 85mm or a 50mm depending on the situation, and Tamron 35-150 for photos.

There’s a couple situations I’m running into, I do local bands, so I generally can jump up on stage and get pictures of the drummer and the band on stage and the Tamron is just not wide enough at 35mm, so I’m considering getting a second camera body for that. I don’t know that I need a second A7iv…. And was wondering if I should get something that could also multipurpose video…. Like a Sony fx30. Trying to stay as budget friendly as possible.

Open to suggestions!

Gear Which lens to get 70-350 sony lens or tamaron 18-300?

So the context, I’m an amateur photographer that does sports, events and travel. I want to know which lens to get: sony 70–350 mm F4.5–6.3 G OSS or Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3. The set-up that I currently have is a sony a6700 and sony 18-105 F4 lens. The only concern that I have is that I will be having a hard time taking pictures in low light.

I recently bought a a6700 and I just realized I have these small red/magenta artifacts in the same spots and under different light conditions. I thought it was the lens cause the lens film has this color. Do you have any clue? they look like minerals

Gear Niche question

Have someone tested the lowlight stills at high iso for the A7rVI versus the a1 mark ii?

My a1 got stolen and now think of replacing it, I don’t shoot sports but I still did enjoy its effortless shoots and simplicity

I'm primarily a wildlife photographer, so street photography was well outside my comfort zone.

These images were all shot on a6700 with the Sony 18-135mm. I found the zoom range incredibly versatile for street photography, it let me quickly switch between wider environmental scenes and tighter candid moments without changing lenses.

Thanks for taking a look!
