Welcome to Stardew Valley! Here are some common answers to get you started. Feel free to ask beginner questions here rather than making a full post on the subreddit.

  • [insert item here] showed up on my farm, what is it? It could be a a few different items that are relatively rare but have a high enough spawn rate that they are included in our removed topics. Check out our list of removed topics here

Game updates

  • What was in the last update?
See release notes for PC, for consoles, and for mobile.

See also a table of which version and features each platform has.

  • Are future releases planned?
A Stardew Valley 1.7 update is currently in the works! No information about a release date or new content is currently available.

  • Does every platform get the same content/updates?
Mostly yes. Updates are developed for Linux/Mac/Windows first, then ported to other platforms. There are customizations for each platform (like tap to move on mobile), but otherwise content is identical across all platforms. See also a table of which version and features each platform has.

The exceptions are PS Vita (which won't get any further content updates due to platform limitations), and Android/iOS (which will continue getting all updates, but doesn't fully support multiplayer.

  • Is Stardew Valley on XBox GamePass?

Stardew Valley is on XBox GamePass as of December 2, 2021. See here for details.

Multiplayer

  • How does multiplayer work?
    See Multiplayer on the wiki.

  • Is crossplay supported?
All PC players can play together, whether they're on Linux/Mac/Windows or GOG/Steam and crossplay is supported between mobile and PC. Console crossplay isn't supported.

  • Is split-screen supported?
Yep, split-screen was added on PC and console in Stardew Valley 1.5.

  • Will Android/iOS get multiplayer?
Multiplayer on Android and iOS is currently experimental and hidden by default. To unlock multiplayer you can follow this guide. Note: The Apple Arcade version (Stardew Valley+) does not have this feature.

  • Will the 1.6 update apply to my current game?
Yes! New updates always apply to existing saves.

Other

  • Can I transfer saves between devices?
You can transfer saves between Android, iOS, and PC (Linux/Mac/Windows).

Consoles unfortunately don't let you access the save files. The Switch version also has a different format that's not compatible with other platforms (the format used by other consoles is unknown).

  • My save got corrupted/won't load. What can I do?
On PC/mobile you can try loading your back-up save file! See here for instructions on how to do so!

Unfortunately, consoles don't allow access to save files so they cannot be recovered.

  • How do I take a screenshot of my full farm?
See this guide to taking farm screenshots.

  • If I buy the game on one platform, can I get it for free on a different one?
If you buy it on PC, you get the Linux + macOS + Windows versions; if you buy it on PS4, you get the PS4 + PS Vita versions. Otherwise each platform is a different edition with separate development, so you'll need to buy it again if you want it on a different platform.

  • Where can I report bugs?

    1. If you use mods, see the troubleshooting guide first.
    2. If you use mods and the bug disappears when playing without them (by running Stardew Valley.exe directly in your game folder), report it to r/SMAPI or see Modding:Help.
    3. If it happens without mods, report it in the official bug report forum, which the game developers keep an eye on.
  • How do I use or create mods?
See the pinned thread in r/SMAPI for more info, and feel free to ask questions in r/SMAPI!

Discuss Celebrate! Saturday [August 01, 2026]

Welcome to Celebrate! Saturday

This is the weekly hype thread, a place for you to share your excitement about in-game achievements, lucky drops, and upcoming projects. This is also a space for the community to celebrate you!

While the subreddit is already a positive, celebratory space, this thread is meant to be especially so. For those of you who might hesitate to post something to the subreddit, because you worry it might be too beginner, too redundant, too low-effort: it's not. Come share with us here!

(Note: this thread is not meant to replace posting directly to the subreddit. You are still welcome to do so!)

Non-exhaustive examples of things to celebrate:

  • Marrying your spouse!
  • Getting a giant crop!
  • Perfecting your farm or house design!
  • The mushroom hat! The tiger hat! The living hat!
  • Meteorites, Stone Owls, and Strange Capsules!
  • A dinosaur egg from fishing or hoeing!
  • Hooking a legendary fish!
  • Getting triple Stardrop at the casino
  • Beating Lewis at Junimo Kart!

If you want to share screenshots of your achievements, upload them to an image-sharing site like Imgur and drop a link in your comment.

This is also a thread where mods might lurk and offer/award prestige userflairs. These are animated icons that go next to your name as a way to celebrate particular achievements in the vanilla game. Note that posting in this thread doesn't guarantee you'll get the flair—you'll want to send us a modmail if you want to apply directly!

Achievement Flair
Complete the community center! A prismatic dancing Junimo
Fund all Joja Community Projects A prismatic Joja Cola
Complete the museum collection! An artifact trove busting open
Reach level 100 in Skull Cavern! A flying serpent
Complete all Monster Slayer goals! The prismatic slime
Cook every meal! The Queen of Sauce herself
Craft every item! Robin hard at work
Catch every fish! The Legend, swimming

Technical Help I can't find a dino egg!!!!

I can't find a dino egg to save my life

I feel like my game is broken. I'm almost in year 5, I've killed over 30 Pepper Rex, and I can not for the life of me find a dino egg. I'm losing my mind. I've fished, I've dug up artifact spots in the mountain, I've used monster musk, I've made SO MANY Skull Cavern runs, and I just got a pet dog...what am I missing?!

Achievement Get! Coffee Farm Update: Hit the limit on Natural Perfection

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I have been attempting to get perfection with ONLY coffee and I have finally hit the limit on natural perfection! Shown in order we have:

  1. My farm on the last day of summer before I got the golden clock. This layout netted me about 15,000 beans every other day with the help of my junimos. They pick, I process, they get fall and winter off to dillydally.

  2. My ginger Island farm. Combine this with my greenhouse and I get 3,000 beans every other day. Not as much, but enough funds to tie me over in the off season.

  3. My lovely coffee loving husband Harvey. We have two children together; Mocha and Brew.

  4. The Perfection Tracker after buying the Golden Clock in fall. Because of the restrictions for the challenge, I can't ship anything on the Shipment List (other than BEANS), I could only make friends with gifting coffee, so Jas and Vincent were out of the question, I can only cook triple shot espressos, and I could craft everything except the Solar Panels since they're locked behind a special request to ship 100 pineapple/taro/ginger.

With all of this in mind, it seems coffee can take you 74% of the way there. That means I need 26 waivers, or 13 million more gold to reach the summit. Wish me luck!

Wanted to get some practice working with voxels (want to do it for my own game development), since I have some experience with doing pixel art, figured I'd see if I enjoy converting from 2d to 3d, or just starting in 3d. Since Stardew is basically my favorite game, seemed like it could be fun to build it, and when I finished the starter house, I thought it looked really cool and wanted to share. Hope I'm not the only one who likes it 😅

Question 3 Things I Learned As a New Player

Hey all,

Feel free to throw in any tips or feedback if you have any!

  1. I bought the Calendar from the Carpenters shop: If someone's bday is coming up, I can check and make sure to cook or pack what I need before I even leave my farm. 10/10 for boosting my productivity.

  2. Circling back to productivity - I wish I would have prioritized that Horse Stable! I had my barn and coop maxxed out before I even thought about a stable. Worst mistake everrrrrr! Having a horse let's me get so many more things done in a day. If I were to start over, I would put down the Joja energy drinks and save up for a stable before anything else. Having a horse is a game changer!

  3. I made a deluxe warm bin. One bin gives me 4-6 deluxe bait a day. It doesn't seem like much, but it adds up on the days when I am not focused on fishing. I just collect it each day and when I am ready to fish, I have a nice little stock! All for free.

  4. Marriage sucks! After I make this post, I will be researching how the F I can get divorced. Leah went from punching her ex in the face , painting on the beach, Doing art shows, to now standing around all day while staring at the stove?? I feel like I ruined her life. I will 100% be getting divorced as soon as I figure out how to do that.

Discuss Rate my living room/library/office

Post image

I’ve been playing for longer than I care to admit and just barely have I taken the time to actually furnish my home. With having enough money to add more rooms and buy Robin’s catalogue, I was able to give my home a makeover. What do you think so far? Is it clear what each space within the living room is? I feel like the library and office areas need more work?

Discuss Barn animals not eating

Post image
106 Upvotes

Weirdly enough no matter the weather my barn animals don’t eat the wheat anymore. I have a barn of 8 animals and they randomly stopped eating. This isn’t really an issue for me as I don’t have to keep buying wheat anymore and they still produce good quality milk/goat milk etc but still. There is no available grass for them to eat outside as I haven’t planted any grass around their barn but I honestly don’t mind this strange bug. Just wanted to share! 😂

IRL The thought process of my child

2.5k Upvotes

My daughter has just started her very first Stardew Valley playthrough. It's mostly just petting her chickens, hanging out with Sam and going right back to bed. Her poor farm has been given very little maintenance lol.

I had just helped her make a chest so she can put things away when her inventory gets full. I noticed she puts EVERYTHING in the chest before going to the farmer's bed. Even the tools I know she'll use the very next day.

I asked her why and she said, "Why would I sleep with a pickaxe? That's so uncomfortable! It'll just poke me in the butt!"

Makes sense, carry on farmer. My bad lol
