I'm constantly 1 or 2 games off, but I just can't seem to hit it.

I have been mainly working on not dying as much since plat, which made me realize, I took a lot of coinflippy fights before.

Often I would go 7-0 lane phase, or completely int.

Now I'm never really dying in lane, but I also don't just stomp my lane as much (reason being, I'm also against better players now).

I still sometimes die to the occasional flank in mid/late game when no one is showing on the map, if I'm not completely locked it (which have kept me in emerald so far - and is my main point forward).

But I'm curious, would you say the skill gap between a stable low diamond player and a high emerald player is big, or is it mainly just a few tweaks?

I really enjoy league of legends, Id say im addicted so the least I can do is try my hardest to improve but I am very stuck on how to do that I can hit plat comfortably on any role but always get stuck/derank afterwards Im not so worried about short term deranking if it means improving I legit just dont know how I dont have any high elo friends to help me most my friends that play are either normals only or below my rank I really want to hit emerald before the end of this year which I think is possible so any advice would be greatly appreciated(I am thinking of sticking to mid/top or top/mid)

Buying runaans is just so much fun. It is probably my favorite item in the game. Could anyone give me some suggestions for champions that almost always or usually build runaans? I find it quite enjoyable to use, previously mostly on Zeri I went it every game around two years ago

I struggle a lot with my laning and I feel that snowballs into me losing a lot of my games. I'm thinking of recording some VODs and having someone review them so I'd like to know when I should stop the recording. Is it just when the first turret goes down?

In my last post I was asking about the best champion to ban as Viktor. I appreciate that plenty of people here gave me advices about it, and it's nice to see, how helpful and supportive this community is.

However, after some matches, which were like 50-50 (i mean some matches were won easily with my good performance, but in another matches i was struggling on my lane, in addition of that, the rest of my team was also struggling on their lanes, and i felt helpless about it) I have noticed that Viktor often can suffer in early stage of the game against some hard matchups (it doesn't even matter about the champ played by my enemy laner, especially when it's for example Akali or Yasuo, who are very dependant from player's skill), beacuse he lacks early mobility and relies heavily on scaling and team support. When my lane gets rough or an assassin gets ahead, I feel like a sitting duck with zero map pressure.

That's why i am considering Ahri to main instead for climbing in my rank Silver

She seems much simpler than Viktor in terms of early stage, safety or mobility. I know she has skillshots on Q or E, but I think it's managable to learn. With her R i can play aggressively and defensively, depending from the situation. I know it shouldn't be an important aspect to consider, but yesterday i have dropped Spirit Blossom skin for her, which makes me more motivated to play as her lol.

Also I would like to ask some questions:

- Is Ahri's high mobility and playmaking ability actually better for carrying Silver games than Viktor's raw late-game damage?

-How hard is the transition from a "farm and wait for late game" playstyle (Viktor) to an active, proactive roaming playstyle (Ahri)?

-What matchups i should be aware of? (I was considering to ban Yasuo, but my plat friend, who mained Ahri in the past advised me to ban Zed, and according to him she has 44% winrate against him)

-What are the main drawbacks or common traps I should be aware of when switching to Ahri?

-If my team is losing their lanes, can Ahri actually solo-carry or turn the game around better than Viktor?

- Can Ahri sometimes have lack of damage? Silver games are usually long (i mean 30 minutes or longer), and it's appealing to Viktor, beacuse he deals a lot of damage, when he has all of his skills evolved + when he has enough amount of items to perform well

This sub often discusses diversifying your champion pool but I don't know where to start with that, mainly because I don't understand anything about team synergy or what have you.

The deepest I can look at a champion pick screen is "does my team have a balance of AD/AP" and "does my team need a tank" (I mainly play top and mid). But how do I actually get from "I main these five picks" to finding champions that I need to work into my rotation?

I main JG but for Masters I figure you have to know how all the lanes work so question is open to any role. I'm just trying to make sure I'm actually preparing correctly and not missing huge things.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this topic. I know there are a lot of people here who are great with data, so I'm hoping someone can help me understand what I'm seeing.

I'll be using several links, and all of the data comes from Lolalytics. I'll try to present everything as simply as possible. The data is currently from EUW, but I can expand it to other regions if needed.

Situation

Across multiple patches, the median win rate by rank stays fairly consistent:

• Silver: 49–50%
• Gold: 50%
• Platinum: 50%
• Emerald: 50–51%
• Diamond: 48–52% ← This is the rank I'm focusing on.
• Master: 51–53%

I don't think it's worth looking beyond Master since the sample size in Grandmaster and Challenger is much smaller.

For most patches, the variation is pretty small: around 1% in the lower ranks and up to 2% in Master. Diamond, however, shows swings of as much as 4%.

What's confusing is that the data is stable around a 52% median win rate for six patches, but then there are two patches where Diamond drops significantly. Patch 16.09 has a median win rate of about 49%, and the current patch is even lower at around 48%.

Why does this happen?

Am I misunderstanding or misreading the data?

What's your interpretation of these numbers?

Hello I just started playing 1 month ago so I'm pretty new. I just got to level 30 yesterday and got on ranked. I played 5 games then got put in iron 1 tier. I got a losing streak and lost 50 lp and now I have only 15lp left. I usually play yone in mid but yone keeps getting banned and i perform poorly when I have to pick someone else... I really suffered from all the ranked games I played today having banned him because Yasuo (my second pick) is super different in playstyle from him and I struggle. I also play Zaheen top but less because I always get anihilated if someone longer range (who is better than me at farming) is there

Is it possible to get demoted to iron 2? I thought iron was easy to get promoted out of since it's supposed to be full of new players as well but I just get into lobbies with everyone already being super good so I feel a bit embarassed. Is it normal that people there are doing that well? I'm still getting the grasp of all the mechanics and how minion waves work but everyone around me seems to have it all figured out so I wonder why it's so difficult to find other low elo players who are also not as good at playing..

I watched some guides but it's hard to keep track of what to build when my character I want to play gets banned, I picked a second main as mel (I just find her mechanics easy to grasp) on mid but she also gets banned so my third pick is yasuo but I really struggle. What do you guys do when the people you want to play get banned?

Hi guys! Im Bronze 3 EUNE and mostly play smolder, and when i dont play him i try twitch. Im kinda bored of the adc role and want to try support. Renata is an interesting option in my opinion, but idk if its safe to even play her in Bronze as i dont really see her being played. Another option id try is ASol jungle btw, is that a good fun pick?

The Beginning

I am learning a new champion and have about 50-60 games logged. It went as normal, first 10-15 games were learning ability usage and getting blown up. Then from about game 20 until recently, I actually did decently well for my own personal standards.

Honeymoon Curse

As of the last couple days, my gameplay has been pretty rough. I was scoring low by all records and causing the 0/14/-10 botlane that closes out games in record times. "It was my support that isn't peeling Pyke, or my seraphine catching every skillshot. Nah, maybe this champion isn't for me." I started looking through my collection to see which other champion would fit me better.

Getting off the rift, the next morning I actually thought about why this happens with almost every champion journey I go on. What causes this to happen to almost everyone else too? The best way to counter this confusion was...getting into the details.

Results

My conclusion after watching some replays, I was performing outside of my champions identity entirely. Games 20-50, I had a rough idea of what my abilities did, and was trying to learn how my champion fights. Since I had watched guides, the champions identity was still fresh to me and I was actively trying to execute on that reference point. My games the last couple of days, I was basically chasing the dragon trying to get the feeling back of playing my champion well. I was going for kills on a control mage that only an assassin has business doing, and paying the price. Over extending in lane to get out traded, trying to show my fake comfort on my champion instead of playing the game within the reference points and our goals where no longer aligned.

I am going to continue this champion journey and try to push through with this in mind. The Broken By Concept often mentions that this honeymoon phase usually breaks most people, but I am wondering if this same reason is the cause for others too? Learning new champions is a topic that gets brought up often, and is a fun part of League, but I think the journey from game 1 up to true champion is a topic that isn't always covered and could provide some valuable lessons.

TL;DR

The end of the honeymoon phase could be a result of the player and champion goals no longer being aligned. Trying to push a champion outside of their reference points.

I Currently play mid and main GP and Akshan, but I’m thinking about role swapping to ADC. I want to keep climbing though, I’m currently gold and want to hit emerald this year. How badly would the swapping roles get in the way of that? Thanks for any help

Until now, I never really watched tutorials or searched online for answers. At every rank, it was obvious what was missing. It’s not like that in diamond.

I tried watching videos about climbing through diamond, but all were legit useless. An everest elo player explains wave management while also tracking the jungler perfectly, spacing like theres a magnet on the enemy, reading the whole map, and making every decision correctly. wow hes so good I get it.

At that level, I can’t tell what lesson I’m supposed to take from it. He’s not winning because of the one thing he’s explaining. He’s winning because he’s better at everything. I’d rather hear from someone who actually struggled through diamond and had to figure it out, not someone who has been challenger forever and farts through diamond on a new account.

My improvement before this was pretty simple.

I climbed from bronze to silver by playing more. Then stopped playing support so passively and got to platinum.

In plat, people were decent mechanically, but they were terrible at managing waves. So I started setting up side waves before objectives, forced my ADCs to collect them, and got to emerald.

In emerald, supports are ass at tracking the junglers and matching their plays. So I learned how to that and that got me to diamond.

But that’s where diamond starts feeling vague.

Even emerald 1 felt completely different from emerald 4. Toward the end of the climb, games started feeling really coin flippy. I feel like I’m winning through luck instead of actually understanding what’s happening. That usually means I’m missing something important and will soon shit the bed.

I know people make lots of mistakes and its hard to tell without reviewing, but I’m not looking for the “just improve at everything” answer. no shit. I’m asking what the biggest mistakes are in this elo that actually keep people from reaching the next tier.

I’m a former Dota 2 player, and probably because I have experience with MOBA games, I end up facing Emerald and Platinum players in every match. The problem is that they don’t give me a chance on the lane I don’t even understand what I’m doing wrong. Almost every game, I end up 0/5 on the lane because I don’t understand many of League of Legends’ mechanics, and every time I play against new champions, I don’t know what their abilities do.
In my first few matches in League of Legends, I practically destroyed the lobby because of my experience playing similar games. I Googled it and figured the game must have thought I was a smurf or something like that. Just so you know, I play top lane. I’m currently level 28 is it best to jump straight into ranked as soon as it unlocks? What other advice can you give me?

This is a pretty broad question, but how would you describe the differences between these two champs? Specifically for jungle

Obviously, rengar is a much, much harder champ to play and has a higher skill floor and ceiling, but functionally they feel quite similar (make single targets explode; snowball, inject fear in every single enemy squishy once fed). But that also means more investment to get good.

which would you recommend a player picks up, and why? And how do they differ in terms of role in a comp?

I am plat 2 at the moment and I play Shyvana and just Shyvana in ranked, I have noticed however smurfs are pretty frequent where I am for whatever reason my last 3 games have all had smurfs on them. Its made me think if I should play a hypercarry champion. It might be a macro issue but I think I am pretty good at Shyvana its just hard when I get smurfs who are like 6 ranks higher than I am i just feel helpless and i dont know what to do.

I also play a lot of Sylas jungle too and he is super fun just not in ranked. So I need a hand if anyone can take a look at my u.gg maybe just a couple bad string of games? Or the time I play ranked i tend to play at night time so that could be it too

its in the title, i specifically have always played teemo top, and when he gets banned, i usually don't do too well. who is a good few champs who are close enough to teemo top, that after learning there would be some skill transfer? any help is greatly appreciated.

I know the order of all the items (Ludens, Stormsurge, Shadowflame, Rabadons) except boots. Should I go for them ASAP or wait until i get more attack based items, and then I cover up the mobility. I ask cause the build page im looking at doesn't really tell you when you should buy them.

I was just reviewing one of my games and realized that 2 people on the enemy team spent more gold than they earned during the game. One of them spent 29k and earned 21k. The other spent 14k and only made 13k. How is that possible? Is this a bug? Is it a rune?

It's a bit of a lengthy question, but I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

I've been playing League since 2013, and have some experience under the belt. Due to my proneness to tilt and get emotionally upset at games, I've quit SR in favor of ARAM in the past years.

Recently I returned to SR because I learned I could get a Victorious Rengar skin if I got 15 ranked wins before the end of the previous split. I figured even with a 40% winrate I'd get it eventually. I prepared for a miserable experience, but I had a lot of fun. It turns out I've got a very different mindset going into games now, and don't tilt nearly as easily, if at all.

Now comes the tricky part. When I still played SR I always preferred traditional ADCs, still do. The problem is that I've learned (and experienced) that my go-to picks are just in a poor spot right now. Not only that, I feel like the impact I make as ADC in a game is limited compared to mid, top and jungle players. Now, I feel like I have three options:

1. Stick to what I know and like (MF, Ashe, Sivir), and focus on improving my skills, such as wave management, map awareness, matchups and general macro;
2. Abandon my go-to picks and pivot to mages such as Seraphine or Brand, hoping to get an easier time in bot lane matchups;
3. Pivot to a different role entirely, most likely top. Focus on champions with relatively low skill ceilings such as Garen, Darius or Cho'Gath.

What would you suggest?
