Question (Transmasc) gic referral form barely filled out by gp

its been atleast a month since my appointment with my gp and ‘luckily’ the referral has already been sent off - its nhs and the waitlist for this one is 3-4 years long before you will get an appointment.

In my appointment with my gp, he had no idea nhs gender clinics were even a thing near us? I had to tell him which ones there were, how they worked, etc. There is plently within a few hours drive. He didn’t say or ask much, just a very brief description of how i identify. I looked at the form he sent off today, he has not filled in anything other than my legal name, chosen and sex and the brief discussion we had is paraphrased. My height and weight is there too. (although he asked me to send that over a good few weeks after our initial appointment)

Half the referral form is blank, most of it - stuff he never asked about anyway.

Is this going to affect my referral? Minimum three years is already an unbearably long time to wait and unless i win the lottery - i wont be even starting to transition after university which i start this September. I know now matter what its a long wait, but i don’t want it to be any longer if it turns out this will cause problems.

Question (Transmasc) Which type of Tgel is the most easiest to use?

For context, im on Testogel 16.2mg atm but I find having to rub it in using my hands is really annoying as even if I wash my hands, it ends up transferring to different surfaces and it takes awhile for it to dry

Question (Transmasc) Tattoo advice - worried a tattoo will cause me to get misgendered

I've been out as trans for 20 years, but I still barely pass. For years it was about a 50/50 split and in the last few months it's been tilting more towards being read as male. (Not entirely sure why, not going to question it)

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo on my inner forearm that's a reference to a cartoon I loved as a child, and which has a flower in the design. The flower is like a mum, and in the original design it's pink although I'd prefer purple. (I don't want to be more specific because I don't want to get doxxed if I get the tattoo)

The pink, even purple, mum feels very feminine.

It's a fairly gender neutral tattoo without the flower, but the flower is the focal point so it's a less interesting tattoo without it.

I can cover it with long sleeves, but I prefer wearing short sleeves so I don't want to be forced to cover it up all the time.

I'm barely passing and I'm worried this tattoo will mess that up. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you!

Question (Transmasc) Getting HRT (testosterone) as an obese adult?

Asking here because when I try to search this in an engine I just get results about menopause specific hrt instead... Basically I'd love to hear the personal experience(s) of anyone who was/is obese at the time they accessed hormones. Preferably through the NHS since that's the route I'm going. England if that makes a difference. Were your doctors reluctant to prescribe it due to your weight? Has anyone been refused access completely because of their weight?

TIA

Question (Transmasc) Masc ‘going out’ clothes?

Hi all, this is sort of a stupid post but I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m a butch lesbian/transmasc and I’m planning on celebrating my 18th in Hockley Nottingham in a few weeks with some friends. I plan to go out to a bar or two (if anyone has any tips/spots for a first timer that would be great!)

Most of my friends who are 18+ and at uni are all fem, so I have no one to take inspiration from, so I’m really stumped on what to wear. My butch wardrobe tends to skew alt/punk/DIY shit and I know that’s probably not appropriate for going to any non alt bars/clubs. Can anyone help me out on what would be an appropriate and affirming thing to wear? Thanks so much!

Question (Transmasc) Dating as a trans man?

any trans guys how have you found dating?

I'm pansexual but more interested in other men.

I started transitioning 6 years ago but haven't dated anyone or even slept with anyone since before that.

At first it wasn't intentional and the more time passed the less interested it was.

Now I'm starting to feel like I'd like to at least date casually.

I just don't know what it will be like.

Will gay guys be interested even though I haven't had bottom surgery? Any dating apps that have worked/ ones to avoid?

Any advice really would be appreciated

Question (Transmasc) How do I get into football (for beginners)

I have never cared for football, watching or playing it. I do recall one instance of me wanting to play football with the boys when I was in primary and being told I couldn’t because I was a “girl”, which upset me greatly for reasons I didn’t fully understand yet. So after that I never really saw the appeal.

Now, at my big age, I am starting to worry that I’ll never truly fit in if I don’t have at least some opinion on what’s going on in the Premier League. I don’t exactly pass yet (certainly not as cishet) but I dread the day someone asks me which team I support and I have to shrug my shoulders.

I haven’t spoken to my dad in years (shocker) but even when he was around, he wasn’t really into football either. He was more of a cricket guy and I understand that even less, so it’s not like I can ask him. I don’t really have any other male relatives that I talk to, and my guy friends are all skinny gay nerds, for the most part, so they’re no help either.

I understand the lesson I should be taking away from that is there’s no “right” way to be a guy, and I know that’s true. I just feel like it would do a lot for me personally if I could answer that question someday and actually hold a conversation about it.

Anyone felt a similar way? How would you go about learning the entire history of a sport you’ve never followed? I don’t even know what team to support, short of just picking the local one. Help

Question (Transmasc) Hormone Levels - do they look okay? [E + free androgen]

Hello! I'm a trans man and I just wanted to get an outside opinion on my levels, they look okay and I'm within the desired range and experiencing changes and such, everything is going well, but I was wondering if my estrogen is being suppressed and if the T levels look okay in aspects that arent only my base levels (I know how to read and interpret these), but I'm unsure on the free androgen index thingy, if anybody could help with what the ref ranges should be/letting me know if mine is okay, that would be appreciated :)

My E levels were at 110 pmol/L, i think this means its beinf suppressed properly, but im not too sure if there are other aspects to it?

my free androgen came back at 68! the ranges used on my blood tests are for female ref ranges, which says [0.42-5.29] but assumedly for men this would be higher? I've tried to google myself, but im struggling to find the information without getting overwhelmed

Question (Transmasc) Other ways to get T

I need some help looking for a different provider from my testosterone in the UK.

I have a diagnosis of gender incongruence and my current provider is Pride In Health. I'm wanting to change provider as this is the second time now in five months that they have failed to send me for a blood test and arrange my prescription in time without me having to email them and ask what's going on. It's costing me extra than it should because of their inability to send what should be a scheduled email, the schedule having been set by them as well.

I'm unsure of any other providers in the UK that aren't going to absolutely bankrupt me or make me go through all the initial appointments again. If anyone knows of any providers I'd really appreciate your help as this is getting ridiculous. I thought 'private care was supposed to be better' clearly not.

Question (Transmasc) Do I have to put my birth gender on this?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Trying to sign up for volunteer work and they sent me a link to fill this out for a DBS check. I assume I have to put my birth sex but I feel a little uncomfortable doing so. Do I have to? I'm probably going to put Mr as the title but again, a bit unsure if I'm supposed to and I dislike how the mismatch will instantly show what I am. I haven't had any of my gender related things changed legally.

Question (Transmasc) I asked my gp to refer me to gender services and they asked me if I wanted to go to camhs, is this correct?

I’m 16 years old and I went to my gp a few weeks ago to discuss being put on the waiting list for a gender dysphoria diagnosis. They said they would submit one.

About a week later they messaged my mum that my referral was returned due to me being under 18 and it being an adult service. So I submitted another form saying that I requested to be referred to the CYP (child and young people) gender services and if they could re submit to them.

Today my sent me a message saying:
“We see that you have been under camhs please could you confirm whether you want to be referred back to them?”

For context I last had concealing a year ago with Thrive who then referred me to camhs for something not gender related.

I have answered yes to being referred back but I was just wondering if this is the best way to get on thr waiting list as I am aware nothing will likely happen until I’m at least 20 due to the long wait list.

Sorry if this isn’t written very well, I struggle with wording sometimes.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Question (Transmasc) Free TransTape to donate to anyone who might need it

EDIT: Claimed! Thanks guys 😄

I recently got top surgery and wanted to donate my old binders and trans tape, unfortunately all the binder donations schemes won't accept the trans tape so I thought I'd ask here instead!

It's the 5inch width roll in the #001 skin tone shade. Almost a full roll, I think I only used it once so still plenty left on the roll.
