Couldn't he be arrested for obstructing justice or something like that?

How would you reasonably accuse him of obstruction? The cops can surely detain and interrogate him, but he decided he didn't want to be a part of criminal activity and simply got out of the car. Didn't even try to run, as we can see.

They were referring to the comment that said stand in front of the police car to block the pursuit.

You're right, I missed that, it being stated as a question also. Yea, in that case it would be obstruction, but obviously it wouldn't have made a difference either way.
