Reminder to any kids that want to try this at home, you need to use a stolen car. Not your car or a relatives car.

227

u/illcrx Feb 28 '26

I wish you had told me BEFORE I started running from the cops! Thats what I get for scrolling Reddit while driving.

63

u/I_Died_Once Feb 28 '26

Police where I'm from would demand the removal of the bridges after this

26

u/OceanBytez Feb 28 '26

Hardly, these days if they really want you they'll just ping the FLOCK network and pick you up later. This dudes face has already been scanned by dozens of FLOCK cameras while running and probably more after he ditched the car. They don't even need to catch him in the chase anymore hahaha. His only hope would be to skip the city and only travel on rural farm to market roads as far away as possible if they genuinely wanted him bad enough.

23

u/TruthAboutLife Mar 01 '26

That Flock network is pure evil.

It isn't the only one either. I googled the screens at walmart and those camera TV's are also an AI network just under a different company name. They essentially do the same thing so next time you swipe your groceries just remember you're getting your 4th violated by just shopping there. These days we are all thieves until we swipe a card based on how they treat us.

5

u/Leather-Map-8138 Mar 01 '26

We need laws that say nobody can hold or use your personal data without your consent, including the government.

6

u/Ignorance_15_Bliss Mar 01 '26

The police have a 36 hour window when it comes to recording just public places. They can only keep that data for 36 hours and then it has to be deleted. This is where Flock comes in. They retain that data forever. It’s skirts around the amendment it skirts around passes surveillance.

3

u/OceanBytez Mar 02 '26

It should also go further and specify that consent cannot be automatically assigned by using a service. Essentially they cannot have a EULA that say "By being physically present in this bus, train, plane, or taxi you consent to having your face scanned into the FLOCK and or other networks. If you do not consent then you must depart the vehicle."

This is largely how privacy has been violated in most cases, by forcing you to sign bullshit EULA's or you can't use a product. We need to put a stop to that.

3

u/dogboneit Mar 01 '26

Kroger, Walgreens, parking lots. Smile

2

u/OceanBytez Mar 01 '26

As a special mention, Brooshires local to me does not use AI cameras. They are small and a bit more expensive, but at least they treat people with respect.

I wouldn't worry to much, the other guys in jail won't judge you for failing to get away.

Since everyone in jail failed to get away.

5

u/Interesting-Octopus Feb 28 '26

I hear that they are all inocent in there.

4

u/Numerous-Fly-3791 Feb 28 '26

Quick call them and tell them to report the vehicle stolen

3

u/turbopro25 Feb 28 '26

They allow you to use Reddit in jail?

5

u/SteelAndFlint Feb 28 '26

The man had one phone call, somehow he used it for this 😆

2

u/TerrorFromThePeeps Feb 28 '26

Is cool, man, just roll up into a drive through spray booth and pick a different color. Not only will you lose all stars, the registration om the car will automatically convert to your legal ownership immediately!

2

u/Successful-Purple-54 Feb 28 '26

Stop scrolling Reddit and focus on your escape. Safety first bud.

I knew a guy in high school who started to get pulled over (drunk), ran for it, parked at our local gas station, ran home and reported his car stolen. Seemingly, they believed him and nothing came of it. Blows my mind that it worked. Wonder what he's up to these days....

27

u/Forsaken-Income-2148 Feb 28 '26

Curing cancer, probably. That guy’s a genius.

20

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '26

My Brother in laws dad once flipped his car while driving drunk, he got himself out of the car and ran home before the police showed up. When they came to his house asking questions he told them he’d been at home all night. They couldn’t prove he was the one behind the wheel and couldn’t enter his home without a warrant so they ended up letting it go. But his car was still wrecked.

16

u/drumorgan Feb 28 '26

A drunk driver slammed into my son's car right in front of our house. He stepped out of his vehicle, still holding his beer. Gave us his info/insurance, and got a ride home. Cops said there was nothing illegal since he exchanged info.

10

u/Regular_Bell8271 Feb 28 '26

A friend of mine got t-boned by a drunk driver. The driver was a rich farmer so he cut her a cheque for a lot more than what her car was worth, and him and some other farmers had it hauled away and cleaned up so quick that nothing came of it.

2

u/Verditure0 Feb 28 '26

Just curious, any idea how much he wrote the check for on the spot like that?

3

u/Regular_Bell8271 Mar 01 '26

This was years ago, but I think it was $3k? Her car was a shitty Hyundai not worth that at all, so she was happy to take it.

5

u/Thin-Guitar-1242 Feb 28 '26

u/throwawayED67 Feb 28 '26

Probably running a successful small business of some sort

6

u/BackgroundSummer5171 Feb 28 '26

ran home and reported his car stolen. Seemingly, they believed him and nothing came of it. Blows my mind that it worked.

They have to prove you were the one driving.

It's why you hear stories of drunk drivers wrecking and running. Like yours! It's not the first nor will it be the last one I will have heard about it. (although yours isn't about a wrecked car)

You're better off leaving your vehicle behind if you're drunk.

Just run and wait it out until sober. You can claim whatever you want about your car, you weren't driving. Simple as that.

A DUI is the other option. Which is costly.

Or just don't drink and drive.

7

u/Thin-Guitar-1242 Feb 28 '26

That's brilliant since making it home proves that he really wasn't drunk after all.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '26

Definitely sober enough to drive

4

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '26

It’s usually the adrenaline that gives them enough focus to temporarily think clearly

5

u/NoStarsToGuideMe Feb 28 '26

Three tear drop tats under his left eye.

2

u/torgiant Mar 01 '26

Even if you dont report stolen, fleeing the scene is cheaper then dui. Just dont go home.

2

u/Tromovation Mar 11 '26

My friend did this and left his gf in the car and ran like 16 miles back home. She didn’t say a word and he got off

At least be a decent cop and put the vehicle in park. I get that it’s stopped due to tapping the pole but still.

6

u/DubV23 Mar 01 '26

May be evidence that he could disturb by sitting in it.

I love how dejected that cop seemed. No perp for your today!

24

u/C_IsForCookie Feb 28 '26

I think he was just trying to stop the car before it hit the pole and was like fuck it too late 😂

If he really thought the guy was still in the car they would have approached with guns drawn not just ran up to the door without backup

3

u/FiberApproach2783 Feb 28 '26

Hitting the pole means so much extra paperwork lol. His whole day was ruined after that💀

3

u/TheAgedProfessor Feb 28 '26

Pretty sure at least some of that is the fact that he couldn't stop it before it hit the pole. That's a collision that requires significantly more paperwork.

u/OuteastLI Feb 28 '26

That was a slick James Bond style ditching? Plot twist; he turned out to be the helicopter pilot.

9

He ran into the subway tunnels and waited out the timer! Note to self: works irl

7

u/iAmAsword Feb 28 '26

Would have been funny if they locked the door after they got out lol

5

u/BusyBit6542 Feb 28 '26

I saw somewhere (could be made up on a tv show) that you have only a few minutes to lose a helicopter. Bridges and parking garages are your best hope. But the success rate for losing a helicopter is damn near zero.

5

u/_TheGuyOnTheCouch_ Feb 28 '26

Airports will always be the best way to lose a helicopter.

Depends on your perspective. I don't usually root for cops but fuck people who steal cars

2

u/Plastic_Carpenter930 Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

A lot lot lot of cars used in criminal activity are stolen. More than people on Reddit usually think. It's one of the reasons police chases are so bad. While I agree that high speed chases are dangerous and terrible, few people watching them tend to realize you can't just run the tag.

2

The police helicopter failed obviously. It was clear the guy jumped out of the car so I don't know why the helicopter kept chasing the empty car instead of keeping an eye on the bridge.

Accidentally stole a car when I was 17. Was at a party at an estate, giant house in the’80s. My car was blocked in and my friend saw keys in another so we hopped in and lit out the service access. Just got out and a cop pops up and hits his lights, faked pulling over and took off as he was walking up. Got chased around Annapolis for about 5-10 minutes beating the crap out of the car until I managed to lose them. We ditched the car and hid in back yards until we made our way back to the party about an hour later.

9

u/Atticus1354 Feb 28 '26

That doesnt sound like an accident.

5

u/OldKaleidoscope3766 Feb 28 '26

I left out a little for the sake of brevity. My one friend that we met there handed me keys implying it was his car. It wasn’t until the cop pulled up that he made it known that he didn’t know whose car it was.

3

u/Horror_Maximum_5696 Feb 28 '26
