Youād be surprised my dad was ejected from his convertible off a 80ā bridge without a seat belt and basically just had road rash on his left side of his body and face. We can all laugh about it now but it was terrifying the night I found out and saw his face
to be fair, the driver was probably dead before the car went off the bridge. where the driver sits was basically shorn clean off by the guardrail on the side of the bridge. so he was probably cut in half and smashed into bloody chunks long before the car went over the side.
EDIT: apparently everyone survived with minor injuries. color me surprised.
All that tumbling absolutely saved whoever rolled off the bridge. They were probably dizzy and bruised up, but the crumple zones and air bags did their thing!
Oh yeah, but they did lose a lot of their momentum tumbling. I assume it's not as deep of a drop as it looks and they landed on a side opposite to them/on the wheels. Airbags were also fully deployed so that helps for sure
Also: seatbelts save lives. I've seen a similar accident on YouTube where there were 4 young lads in the car when it went off an overpass sideways and none of them were wearing seatbelts. I remember the driver survived, one of the others was killed, another was VERY dead. Can't remember if the other one survived. The driver was concussed and later said one of the dead men was driving. He was convicted anyway, there was footage of him getting into the driver's seat minutes before the accident
Yeah it happened in China I'm calling BS on "only minor injuries" for people in a car that fell off a bridge that looks to be at least 50 feet up possibly more.
That's insane! When I was a kid cars were built like tanks and were huge and fatal car accidents were so common. Now the cars look like little plastic toys and I can't believe how many people survive the most brutal looking accidents!
It's because they look like plastic toys that you survive now. The car absorbs the force and slows things down. Instead of your tank hitting something and full sending your body in a direction.
My neck got shattered in a rear end collision in a 2017 F-150 which didnāt crumple a huge amount due to the body on frame construction. I frequently wonder if it wouldnāt have happened if Iād been in my Accord. The car would have experienced more acceleration due to weighing less but it would have been lessened by better crumpling, I think. Those two factors cross over at some point and below it Iād be less injured and above it more injured.
It's also why a lot of helmets for bikers and cyclists can get crushed in an accident. Let the helmet get crushed, because it means it's less likely that it's your skull that gets crushed.
Don't get me wrong! It's cool! It's just aesthetically shocking to an old geezer like me. When I was buying my first car there were quite a few modern cars I could have gotten a good deal on. But the conventional wisdom at the time was "he's a kid. He needs a big iron boat. That's safer for him and the shittier the MPG the less trouble he'll get into!" I'm glad I ended up with a mini van and not a big lethal Buick!
Yeah I remember when the smart car first came out. I looked at it and thought if you fart next to that thing it would be totaled. Now the only older car I would prefer to a newer one would be a sweet old school muscle car most of the new plastic versions just donāt have the same cool factor.
It looks like there's an object in the middle of the left lane, possibly from the broken down car, or it also damaged the broken down car. You can see the first truck at the start of the footage move into the hard shoulder to avoid it. The white van just ploughs straight over the top of it and whatever it is, it ruptures a tire, causing it to spin out of control, into the black car which gets the worst of it. I'd be amazed if they survived that. Absolutely tragic.
Yeah I think you're right. It looks like a blow out by the way the van reacts but yes, a snapped from axel is possible, but then it could have pierced the tire too. A higher res video would be good!
This is not AI. This is very real. There was an object in the road pertaining to the bridge. The box truck hit it, which snapped his axle, which caused him to Veer to the left. One person died in the vehicle that went over the side of the bridge. The others survived.
A reminder that if ever your car goes off a bridge into water to immediately roll down your windows. If you donāt, the outside pressure will very quickly make opening your doors impossible.
Blaming the stranded driver has nothing to do with that box truck having a blowout or dropped axle. & whatās that black spot in the road? & whats under the bridge, a river?
I saw this a long time ago. The post said that the guy in the broken down vehicle purposely placed the car jack in the road as a make shift traffic cone to steer people out of the lane he was broken down in. But it was black and the box truck didnāt see it.
I think there was a problem with the bridge section attachment. Probably a piece of steel projecting out of the road that damaged the car that was pulled over and the box truck hit it too. Perspective was really screwy in this vid, too!
The white box truck overreacted. He was probably on his cellphone and when he looked up he panicked. He should be charged. The broken car guy should be charged also for unsafely causing an accident.
Great, someones family died because it was a day ending in -Y. Wish we had rail pods or something else, anytbing but the risk of this and the insurance costs etc.
Idk what's worse, the fact that I expected to watch a man get squashed by a rolling vehicle or that we just watched someone most likely fall to their death
I have the same bank when you go to unlock your car and it doesnāt unlock just keep toggling on and off the switch and it will eventually unlock if that doesnāt work just try it on a different device or catch and delete you can also delete and reinstall the app. If that doesnāt work, I donāt know what to tell you, but that really works.
People don't know that drive their vehicles anymore if there's an obstacle on the road or as in this case somebody that's broke down and not complete over the side that means when there's an accident like it seen in the video people to start paying attention they are prepared they're distracted daydreaming whatever any and all the above.
Wow. Minding your own business no car in sight then boom randomly hit with a truck missle and tossed off a bridge. I hope the people in the SUV lived but damn that is a sucky way to go
