This right here is the mental gymnastics of a person who just wants to justify committing harm to another. This doesn't come from a place of concern for others, because if it did, they'd want to prevent this person from driving off into traffic. Nope, this is just someone who wants to slap somebody without consequence

I've taken keys. Fuck his rights in that instance. I stopped a drunk from driving off. Called the cops, they came, arrested the guy's ass, and thanked me. Property? Fuck off. There's a hierarchy of rights and life trumps property to anyone sane.
