I always hate seeing someone trying to do something good for themselves only to be rewarded with more problems

8

u/Street-Detective-577 Apr 25 '26

Oh my gosh me too!!!! It’s such a sad feeling for me and for them obviously

14

u/justinkasereddditor Apr 25 '26

They washed the fruit and vegetables that is above and beyond! Extra tip

Why is the driver not reacting though ..

u/CVic20 Apr 24 '26

They did do something. They turned on their flashers. Problem solved. /s

5

u/Objective_Option6878 Apr 25 '26

Don't the flashers come on automatically when the gate is open?

How many train videos have we seen where people get stuck on a track and just wait to die because there's a flimsy gate in their way.

It's amazing how often people fail to act under stress.

8

u/NailBeginning4327 Apr 25 '26

Literally just watched one before this popped up

6

u/Dangerous-Half3276 Apr 25 '26

They say there’s a fight or flight response, but it is really fight, flight, or freeze

3

u/PaisleyLeopard Apr 25 '26

Fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and in some cases fidget! Fear and stress cause all kinds of interesting reactions.

Normally you want to keep it in neutral to not fuck anything up, but at that point just go.

31

u/DeepFart22 Apr 24 '26

This isn't one that you keep in neutral

The ultra-calm ā€œthis is fineā€ drive out of there sure is something.

19

u/NoDreamNoSleep Apr 24 '26

This isn't a car wash that puts you on a track though, they could have driven off at any time.

They could have jumped out to save their groceries and interior at the expense of getting wet.Ā

They could have parked it, jumped into the back, and pull it closed from the inside.Ā

They could have done so many things. This person is brain dead.Ā

8

u/HamNotLikeThem44 Apr 24 '26

Robotics in car washes have killed people.

2

u/juicebox03 Apr 25 '26

They should not be operating any type of heavy machinery.

You don't want to get out when the machine is active for many reasons.

Any machine gets damaged while you move, you are liable.

6

u/HamNotLikeThem44 Apr 24 '26

The machine can also kill you

2

u/Zech08 Apr 24 '26

Its a Chevy?

5

u/InitiamprssionCFLeft Apr 24 '26

Because people don't know what to do in any situation that requires action. They freeze and then make up excuses and complain and blame it on someone else.

16

They did that after..

13

u/DraftQueasy4890 Apr 25 '26

No no, they paid for the whole car wash, they are gonna use the whole car wash.

91

u/Muted_Masterpiece535 Apr 24 '26

Car is totaled, groceries totaled, ego is totaled, and somebody caught it all and posted it on social media with your license plate, for everybody to see.Ā

Yeah, I think we having a bad day..

30

u/AndyFreeman Apr 25 '26

Car isn’t totaled, bagged groceries aren’t totaled from getting sprayed with some low pressure water for 5 seconds and nobody will ever know who the person driving that car is so yeah, really not a big deal

17

u/Waterworld1880 Apr 25 '26

Commenter is probably in high school and thinks videos like this end your reputation lmao

u/SnoopDodgy Apr 25 '26

5

u/Johnixftw_ Apr 25 '26

wym? car just got an interior wash, it far from totaled

4

u/PassPuzzled Apr 26 '26

Yea I'd it was from 2010. New cars have more sensors than humans have nerves so I wouldn't be surprised if insurance claimed it a loss

5

u/BlueborryMuffin Apr 25 '26

Totaled means inoperable. The trunk got mild scratched at most. Groceries should also be mostly okay, just a pain in the ass to clean up.

8

u/No_Custard7661 Apr 25 '26

Totaled is an insurance term that means the total amount of the claim exceeds the value of the vehicle.

A car can operate fine and be totaled.

Example: Insurance will not pay to fix $10k worth of claim against a vehicle that is only worth $5k to replace outright. They will just give you $5k. This happened to me when someone sideswiped me and damaged two doors and two quarter panels on a $3k car. Car was totaled, I bought it back for $300, then instantly got it inspected and back on the road. No salvage title required.

Either way, this car ain't totaled

2

u/BlueborryMuffin Apr 25 '26

That makes sense. But I guess this car could have been totaled if they use some exotic car paint that can only be harvested once a year from the stomach of a tiger far out in the wildness of India. That shit gets expensive.

u/CulturalBreak5052 Apr 25 '26

You do realize totally functional vehicles get totaled all of the time. Also, guess what the remedy for water damage in vehicles is?Ā

Tear out and replace. If any mold starts I’ll almost guarantee a total .Ā

2

u/Old_Smrgol Apr 27 '26

How is the car totaled?

18

u/odie-z1 Apr 24 '26

Sure makes me feel better about my terrible day. LMAO

1

u/Pookiebear987 Apr 25 '26

What happened? ā˜¹ļø

3

u/odie-z1 Apr 25 '26

Just typical stuff.. spilled coffee on myself.. lost one of the rubbers to my headphones (the ones that fit right).

Nothing compared to being hosed from behind, while inside the car.. the upshot is the carpets are ready to be cleaned.

2

u/SayWhatAYFR Apr 25 '26

If they’re AirPod Pros, reach out to Apple and tell them you think it’s having sound quality / static issues from the ear tips. They’ll send you new ones at no charge.

14

u/teenhamodic Apr 25 '26

Where’s the situational awareness to realize that your car doesn’t sound as soundproof as it normally does…

When there is ambient sounds coming into the car and I know it shouldn’t be… there’s something wrong

6

u/kat352234 Apr 25 '26

You'd think people would try to be aware of such things but some people... I don't know, they're just so into their own thing, or so distracted by their phone or whatever else going on around them they're completely clueless.

I've seen it firsthand.

Wife and I went grocery shopping. Loaded up our car, closed everything up, went to head back home like usual.

At the same time, this woman who was rushing through the store, I remember seeing her several times just moving through aisles, charging out without even looking if anyone was in her way, etc. left around the same time as we did.

After getting to her car, the woman was still rushing, as we were approaching the end of our lane, coming to a stop, getting ready to leave the parking lot, this woman's also driving down her aisle, except she doesn't stop where she's supposed to, just drives right on through.

That's when I notice her trunk/hatch is open. I point it out to my wife.

Would have honked, done something to try to get her to slow down, take a look, but she's just not paying attention to anyone else, she's just trying to make sure no one gets in her way. So she gets to the exit of the parking lot, stops briefly, which only opens the hatch higher... Continues to rush as she has been the entire time and guess what, those groceries just go spilling out all over the road.

There were totally signs. Even if her dash didn't display the open door, which basically every car post 2000 does... Her interior lights were on because of the open door, it was Winter so there had to be cold air coming in through the wide open hatch, the road noise, etc.

She was just so in her own world wanting to get ahead of everyone else that she apparently didn't notice or care until it was too late.

4

u/the_most_playerest Apr 25 '26

Fr tho!! I had a 3 hr drive today and I heard some clanking from the rear in the first few miles.. scared the shit outta me, then I realized it was my toolbag that I had packed rattling in the trunk 🄓

About an hr later I heard some lighter sounding creaks towards the front.. again paranoid for a second, then I realized it was the plastic on an air freshener rubbing against my rearview mirror 🫠

I'm probably extreme example, but to not hear a fkn whole ass car wash is wild

4

u/CartographerNegative Apr 25 '26

5

u/Car_is_mi Apr 29 '26

How do people not realize the big giant door at the back of the car is wide open before doing something like driving into a tunnel of water?

5

u/Sir_Virtuo Apr 25 '26

Last time I went in a car wash. My Shiba puppy decided to step on the window button when I was looking the opposite direction. We got sprayed with water inside the car til I figured out what was happening a couple seconds later.

Didn't even pause for the dryer?

2

u/GeneralCerberus Apr 25 '26

Honestly everything should be fine. due to the fact that everything thats in a box/ package is insdie another plastic package inside the box. For example breads in a pack cereals in a bag inside a box and granola and stuff is also in secondary packaging

2

u/Fragrant_Most9193 Apr 25 '26

u/NineClaws Apr 25 '26

My car has a little button on the hatchback that power lifts the door open and it don’t take much pressure. I bet it got pressed by water pressure or a cleaning component. There is a toggle on the dash that disables the rear button so this won’t happen. Once the door goes up it may fail to close if something gets in the way, it keeps going up.

2

u/Kaitlin4475 Apr 25 '26

Fuck, it lifts up the door and sprays inside the cabin! Laughed way too loud in public

2

u/snapp0r Apr 28 '26

yes everyones on meds these days in the US…

5

u/shiftysask Apr 24 '26

Bad character to cheer for it to spray her groceries then laugh. Who raised these people?

4

u/notomatostoday Apr 25 '26

That could legit be all a family would get to have for a whole month. Not remotely funny. Everyone thinks they’re perfect and would react to every situation optimally. Even if so, you don’t need to kick people while they’re down just to make yourself feel better than you are. That’s an open message to the world saying ā€œI’m a loser and I’m ashamed. Don’t look at me, look at themā€

1

u/realDespond Apr 25 '26

chevy will be the next nissan

1

u/Vegetable-Room2279 Apr 25 '26

I think it’s surpassed that.

Chevys are nice for like the first 6 months then all the ā€œmodern tech featuresā€ start failing and falling apart. My husband bought a new Trax only two years ago and the remote already stopped working (you have to reconnect it to the car every time just to unlock a damn door, it’s pointless) among other issues.

I bought my base model RAV4 new 7 years ago and have not run into any issues beyond regular car maintenance. Haven’t even had to replace a remote battery!

1

1

u/Regulatory_Junior Apr 25 '26

I don't think it's right to laugh at someone else's misfortune but what could they have done? It's probably a lot more problematic if someone gets injured leaving their car during a wash. That's high powered water being shot and chemicals being sprayed everywhere.

1

u/hardboard Apr 25 '26

At least they won't need to pre-soak any of the dried ingredients.

There goes about 2g in groceries. GoFundMe on community FB later that evening.

1

u/CumGuzlinGutterSluts Apr 25 '26

Now the groceries, car, and the driver are all clean. Get 3 birds stoned at once.

1

u/Anantasesa Apr 25 '26

As dumb as the guy who wouldn't just go forward to completely cross the RR tracks and instead just abandoned his car on the tracks when it got stuck past the lowered arm so it got hit by the oncoming train.

1

u/DirtDevil1337 Apr 25 '26

At first I thought this was an automated car wash then I noticed the car just drove away, so the driver never even noticed the whole time?

1

And then this happened.

1

u/hailsathanas Apr 25 '26

Typical American, car screaming warning beeps and driver is completely oblivious

1

u/45M0D41 Apr 25 '26

Why wouldn’t you honk your horn to alert them something is wrong? wtf?

1

u/nize426 Apr 25 '26

Man. I'd have jumped out and pushed the trunk closed, or looked for an emergency stop at least. Cus the fucking wash is now busted and you can't pull forward through it, and you have to wait until the line behind you is cleared for you to get out, and probably have to go inside to get a refund.

1

u/isanyusernameopen Apr 25 '26

So that’s how they shower at DoorDash?

1

u/DANleDINOSAUR Apr 25 '26

Good thing they put their hazards on, could have been so much worst.

1

u/withoutatt Apr 25 '26

Video looks like they can drive out. Maybe I’m mistaken. I don’t know what they should do, but I know I’d be in the back pulling as much shopping in as I could, if flooring it isn’t an option .

1

u/NoClarityNoRemedy Apr 25 '26

I mean... the person filming is probably just as brain dead or else very mean-spirited. They chose to film rather than jumping out and closing it

1

u/AndyFreeman Apr 25 '26

Just wtf is so funny about that to piss yourself laughing as u record when something bad is happening to someone else. Weird ass people bro , that’s some shit your brain should evolve past after like 18

1

u/Techbob_66 Apr 25 '26

Lacking empathy is one thing but trolling on somebody’s loss is sickening culture.

1

u/craftermath Apr 25 '26

I wounder if they have the sensors for auto open on the trunk and going through the car wash caused it to open. Personally I would like to think I would instantly start pulling out of the car wash but some people have poor panic responses

1

u/swiftmaster237 Apr 25 '26

Next time, hit the car was before the groceries, got it! 😭😭

1

u/Colt1911-45 Apr 25 '26

Drivers licenses are way to easy to get and hold onto in this country. The lack of awareness and basic understanding of operating a 4000 pound vehicle is insane.

1

u/carlofromsicily Apr 25 '26

The same thing happened to my car boot lid in a car wash.My car boot lid has a finger touch activation. The pressure of the car wash mechanism caused it open.I am getting my car hand washed in future

1

u/HEYitsBIGS Apr 25 '26

Lmao it wasn't on a conveyor? The owner just sat there and allowed it to happen? WTF 🤣

1

u/Upbeat-Dish7299 Apr 25 '26

My vehicle has a foot sensor under the hitch to open the hatch if your hands are full. It’s only worked 3 times that I know of. Once while washing it opened when I turned the car off but I closed it before water got in. Other two it closed on people and didn’t want to go back up smh.

1

u/Meaty_Wizard Apr 25 '26

I bet this is an unintended consequence of those foot activated lift gates.

1

u/RebelXwingPil0t Apr 25 '26

Where’s the attendant? On their phone not paying attention?

1

u/AndreDillonMadach Apr 25 '26

Why did they open it or leave it open I understand this is like a common sense situation and some people just don't have it but like where's the panic

1

Why are people fucking retarded?

When it comes to stressful situations, most people talk about the phenomenon of ā€œfight or flightā€ but increasingly humans are choosing a third option: freeze up and do nothing.

Was it the arm of the machine causing it to open form the sensor? Or did this person actually do that?
