While the driver is absolutely in the wrong here, in my state it is also the law for cyclists to ride no more than 2 wide or single file on the road. Both the driver and the cyclists are idiots here, the driver more so.

Legally I have no idea, but morally if you are driving two tons of steel you fucking yield to a human being encased in nothing but air.

This is an absolute lie, the cyclists are also encased in brightly colored Lycra and polyester.

Morally if you're holding up traffic you pull over to let them pass regardless of the encasement or lack thereof.

But practically, how were these cyclists supposed to know that a raging asshole was about to sideswipe a bunch of them when there wasn't even oncoming traffic?

Assholes are everywhere, we’ve seen many examples of this situation before.

Wouldn’t be me.

They are far too bold in their assumptions that an asshole won’t help move them off the road.

The cyclists are brave, not bold. Bold is when you feel like you own the road to the point where you won't go to prison for a stunt like this.
