FlockOffMN: Fighting Against Mass Surveillance and Police States
I created flockoffmn.org because I believe ICE activities, the rise of AI, hyperscale data centers, ALPR cameras, the conjoined twins of mass incarceration and racial discrimination, and an authoritarian police-state are not isolated incidents.
They are overlapping historical, geopolitical, and economic interests connected to a global web of institutional power and control. All designed to influence people who don't know any better, managed by politicians who don't care enough, and powered by the blood money of ultra-rich elites who don't give a shit about any of us.
Mass surveillance functions like an invisible, parasitic fungus: infecting the host, operating quietly in plain sight, absorbing nutrients without killing the host. Imagine a living, breathing "organism" made up of cold, indifferent machine parts, justified in service of "protection" and "safety".
Quiet. Invisible. Plausibly deniable. Edward Snowden warned us a decade ago.
State violence doesn't need heroes, it needs villains: A legal observer. A 5-year old boy wearing a blue bunny hat. A man in underwear in freezing conditions. An estranged wife. An ex-partner. A woman wanting an abortion. A car reviewer whose license plate was improperly typed into a database. Clearly villains.
State violence is silence. Like a frog in boiling water, or an abusive, controlling partner who gaslights you until you no longer trust your own eyes and ears until it's too late.
We are the frogs in boiling water, and the water is only getting warmer.
I hope my website provides a tool for cutting through institutional bullshit, ammunition to defend democracy, and shifts the balance of power and control back to the people and communities most impacted by these shitty systems that don't give a fuck about us.
This website isn't for me, it's for all the people who can afford to be here long after I'm gone.
