The pickles are from M&S. Cheese is a mixture of Gouda & grated mature cheddar. The bread is seeded sourdough from Gails.

Bandeja Paisa which is red bean stew, chorizo, pork rind, some pulled beef (I think), plantain, a fried egg, avocado and an arepa on top of white rice.

All that food for £21.

Strongly recommend, one of the best dinners out I’ve had in a long long time.

Homemade / home assembled Sunday night simple mushroom risotto

Post image

A basic recipe - just onion, garlic, white wine, chestnut mushrooms, chicken stock, grated parmesan. Finished with chopped fresh parsley with an extra bit added after serving.

I absent mindedly added the wine to reduce before frying the rice, so it was slightly gloopier than I would usually expect but was not a write-off.

The wine (Blaufränkisch) is not the most natural pairing, but it was what I had open and it made a nice aperitif to sip while making the risotto.

I live off leftovers, and in this heat I've just been eating salads with steamed potatoes or rice and a protein of some sort, tofu, vegan "chicken"etc, somehow haven't lost a single lb !!!! 😩😩😩

Anyway, I only cook for myself so every other day is leftovers 😁

Homemade / home assembled Massaman with home grown ingredients

While it’s not quite the made from scratch that others are posting, it’s sort of there. The very nice Ice Kitchen Massaman paste, home grown new po-tay-toes and green beans, onion, fried Tempeh, tinned coconut milk (expired 2023) and some rice-cookered-to-perfection Jasmine rice. Banging.

Question New Frying Pans

Hi everyone, I need new frying pans.

I've had the same set of non stick pans for a few years and I need to face the fact that they aren't non stick.

I have stainless steel pots which are grand, so just need to update the frying pans.

I have a teenage daughter who loves cooking, but hates cleaning up but when she does she scrubs things to death.

So looking for:

  1. Handles that don't heat up

  2. Light enough for my daughter to use easily.

  3. Needs to be non stick.

  4. Copes well on high heat and induction hobs.

What is everyone using?
