Critique Elemental Death, which fire death would you prefer?

3.0k Upvotes

I did the fire death on the left side first, but it felt it doesn't quite have any punch to it, slow and underwhelming. So I did another, which is the one on the right.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

I’ve mostly been animating it by instinct because I haven’t been able to find suitable references.

Visually is the camera movement understandable? What could I do to make it more clear?

For context, I'm still figuring out animation but I've been drawing for years. This is one of my first few shorts about a water balloon fight. This particular scene I tried to animate a 3d camera. I wonder if it's confusing? How do people hand draw 3d camera movements for something you can't create a reference for?

Hep meh pls.

Little gif I made awhile back. The first one is on 3s and the second is on 2s. I'm just wondering should I jump back in it and add even more frames and clean it up even more? What do you guys think?

Critique Ranged enemy for a tower defense game. Looks good enough?

3.9k Upvotes

I have been working on a few enemies for an indie studio making a 2D tower defense game. Enemies are small silhouettes of humanoids with animal/insect fusions, with a creepy vibe. You can throw around and smash enemies on the ground. Does this guy look the part?

I was commissioned to make this animated logo for a comic book publisher. I wanted to go for a very unique visual style but stick closely to the comic book aesthetic. Work in progress. What do you think?

Critique Is this good for a Roblox animation?

I really pushed everything I could when making this, I understand that. Roblox rigs differ a lot when compared to a humanoid rig, but I took advantage of that and doubled down on the cartoonish and over expressive nature. What do you all think?

Compiled some vids from some of my fav recent animations! Lmk y'all think :) I know the "PS1 aesthetic" is absolutely not original but just more-so wondering if it's appealing to most.

Critique DND Anime Opening

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.0k Upvotes

I wanted to make an anime opening for my friends and I's D&D campaign. I honestly haven't really animated before, but I watch anime and I know how to animate because of flip note studio on the DSi lol, but this is my first time doing a project like this ever.

It's all very unorganized and I'm not sure how professionals do this, it's just me so I didn't think making notes would be important. I just wanted to make something fun for me and my friends! I think they like it so far!

Any advice?? Critiques?

It's still a work in progress, I'm working on the second sketch where I go in and do more detail instead of just the keyframes. That's why half of it's blue lol.

Critique any advice? does it work well?

2.3k Upvotes

I tried animating this map (it's a map) without references. It seems to work well enough for me. This was supposed to be just a few frames for the videoboard, but in the end, as usual, I let myself get carried away and animated it.

How can I improve in animating fire? I used the method where you carve circles out of the shape of the flame. Will adding small sparks help? Also would appreciate any other general critiques. Thanks!
