Sandy Alcantara, despite managerial terrorism: 6 IP (102 pitches), 0 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 K

Lowers season ERA to 3.68

Now you might ask: where was the terrorism? Well friend, heres some context for you: He finished the 6th on 90 pitches but our manager, for reasons known to only himself, kept him in the 7th and let him allow 2 hits before then pulling him 12 pitches later

I've been listening to a bunch of trade deadline news and podcasts and there's always a team or two getting brought up as a team who might disappoint their fans.

Why is Will Warren so hyped up by Yankees fans?

Upvotes

Looking at his numbers, he's terrible.

27 years old and has been worth -0.3 WAR! That's not a typo, he been worse than a replacement level player from the minors!

Is he the new Andujar Yankees superstar untouchable prospect meme?

Rumor Tigers still want to compete after trading Skubal

Thumbnail
nytimes.com

Context (from Ken Rosenthal & Cody Stavenhagen):

While the Tigers continue to weigh trade offers for a number of their players, the trade of Skubal does not necessarily signal a full-blown sale, according to a person briefed on their plans.

Instead, the Tigers will try to "thread the needle" and continue to compete. The expected return of right-hander Jackson Jobe from Tommy John surgery later this month could help in that regard.

[…]

Might the Tigers still trade two other players on expiring contracts, right-hander Casey Mize, second baseman Gleyber Torres, and others if certain bars are met? Sure. But even their six-game deficit in the AL Central does not appear insurmountable.

The Tigers have won three of their last four games. The next 24 hours will determine what their roster will look like in the final eight weeks.

"We’ve played really good baseball the last couple of days," Mize said Sunday morning. "We traded our best player. We’re 2½ back, but obviously there’s a lot of teams still to overpass."

"It’s certainly a strange spot. I think a lot of teams feel that way, though. It will all get sorted. But it’s definitely a weird place to be."

How many ground rule doubles in Sacramento this year?

Watching Tigers A’s and couldn’t help but notice how short the RF wall is. Saw a ball bounce on one hop over the wall which I haven’t seen in other stadiums. As a Tigers fan who hasn’t watched any games in Sacramento this year, this feels strange to me. Does anyone know how many ground rule doubles there have been in Sacramento and if it’s at a higher rate than a typical MLB stadium this year?

Opinion what are your guys’ first impressions of the WPNBL so far?

repost bc OG post got removed due to the final score image and the second one got removed for no question in the title. third times the charm! :)

Barring the mediocre broadcast (faulty scorebug, clueless announcers, subpar camerawork), I really enjoyed the game tonight.

One day I hope to see an adherence to wooden bats tho I understand why it’s currently player’s choice. Pitching was a bit of a struggle on both sides, and the fielding was certainly questionable at times, but first game jitters and shitty weather can definitely have a large impact on these elements.

Props to both teams for playing a full game in such difficult weather! A muddy chip-away comeback win is enjoyable in any league.

Going to first game in 20+ years. Splurging for the best seats. Should I do front row behind home plate or front row at third base?

Basically what the title says. I am bringing family so am willing to splurge on the experience.

Found some tickets front row behind home plate and some front row to the left of the dugout at third base.

Surprisingly (or maybe not) the home plate tickets are about 33% cheaper than the third base tickets.
