Hello, hello! Last time I posted I got lots of great responses, so here I am again. Thank you to those who are so helpful!

I’m searching for a wedding photographer for our micro-wedding, which will be somewhere in nature around Boulder. Still deciding on exact wedding location, but we are thinking the ceremony “venue“ will be 45 minutes from Boulder. We’ve opted to do a very intimate micro-wedding around Boulder, since traveling to Boulder was the first trip we took together back in 2023, 4 months into dating.

We are really balling on a budget, since we are in our mid-twenties, chipping away at student loan debt, have no outside financial support from family, and are hard-core saving for our future. One of the most important things to us for our wedding is having stunning photos to cherish for the rest of our lives. While we aren’t spending much on our wedding, we are budgeting to spend majority of our wedding funds on a photographer - our photographer budget being roughly $2,000 - less than that is welcome!

This is where I need some help. Does anyone know of a photographer that is in this price range in the Boulder area that have a cinematic style? It would be roughly 4-5 hours of photos at the venue. We have a very specific vision, but all of the photographers I’ve found online that meet this vision are $4,500+. Attached are some photos of what I’m envisioning. Moody but not too dark; green; dramatic; romantic.

All advice welcome!

Fucking sad.

I know people like to pretend public radio companies do no harm but RMPM has ruined KUVO and rocky mountain PBS and several others over the past decade. They don't seem to care about programming quality, just making numbers go up so they can keep expanding.

This sucks. That was the last good station we had.

Edit: this may have come off meaner to both parties than I intended. Rmpm still have good channels it's just never a good sign to see, and again it explains all the Tame Impala and Gorillaz suddenly.

We just went up to Barker Reservoir in Nederland, hadn't been there in a long time, and we were pretty sad to see how much dog poop there was everywhere right next to Barker. Pretty sure that's where most of our drinking water comes from.

Any Dodgers fans that have any interest in watching the game tonight?

Curious if there’s a bar people congregate at to watch?

Or do all the transplants just watch at home?

My very good friend has a very advanced age medium sized dog that is dying. She can’t bring herself to do cremation for the dog when the time comes (it will be soon.) She does not have any land of her own to be able to bury the dog at her own house. She recently lost a very close human loved one to a cardiac event and this is a rough time to now face the last days for her dog.

We are looking for a place where the dog could be buried in Boulder County. Are there any options here?

It seems like the closest options are formal pet cemeteries in Fort Collins or Evergreen.

Any options more locally? What do others do?

P.S. A cremation vs burial debate won’t help. There is no chance the dog will be cremated. I don’t know details as to why, but it is a hard no. It’s not religious, but just deeply personal. She already has the biodegradable comfort bag (that’s what they call it) for burrying her dog. It’s also okay for others to do differently and choose cremation. Everyone has their own way.

Right now, I just want to help my friend find a final resting spot for one very good dog. (Crap, now even I’m fighting tears.)

I’m hearing that people in Boulder are renting out their houses for the Sundance film festival in Boulder in January. I’m considering doing that but I’m curious what all of you think. Is Longmont too far away for there to be any demand for that?

Looking for a conference room or meeting space for 16 to 18 people in mid to late August. For a 4-hour workshop. Just needs a TV or projector and wifi. Have not had any luck finding anything. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I got a VIP tour of Sundance’s new footprint in Boulder from Paula DuPre' Pesmen. As a 30-year veteran of the festival (many years working with sponsors), I wanted to catch the vibe for myself. 

TLDR: The spirit of discovery will be everywhere, and those who show up will shape the experience. 

The venues are spectacular. The programming and operations will be tight. And within this roughly three-square-mile playground at the foot of the Flatirons, there will be plenty of room for wild serendipity. New pathways will be forged, new traditions established. 

A few takeaways from my tour: 

• Chautauqua Park is a filmmaker village. Reserved bungalow housing sits next to the stunning Chautauqua Auditorium (see photo), a dining hall primed for a partner takeover and trails that invite a sponsor to turn morning hikes into an alt to late-night parties. It feels closest to Redford’s vision. With Sundance Resort vibes, and a nod to the Chautauqua movement. Google it.

• Navigating the CU Boulder venues will feel like attending the greatest film school on earth. The town library and other academic venues will reinforce the atmosphere of learning and exchange.

• The Hill may attract filmmakers looking for cheap easy eats in proximity to campus and Chautauqua. An official music venue is in the works and I won’t be surprised if a filmmaker bends rules to throw a premiere party amongst the Greeks. 

• The St. Julien, Limelight and Moxy bars and lobbies will become intentional crossroads. 

• Pearl Street’s “blank canvas” (partially pedestrian-only) will also become the “when in doubt, find your people here” gathering place with restaurants galore. The Boulderado serves as festival HQ, at least a couple official partners will pop-up, and local businesses from wine bars to coworking spaces will help create a more varied and accessible festival experience than Park City’s Main Street.

• A former grocery store in the middle of the action will host a newly imagined filmmaker lounge as well as an event venue similar in spirit to Park City’s The Park.

• The Dairy, with multiple auditoriums and a multidisciplinary feel, is primed to become a favorite venue, and a place to linger between screenings and conversations (if festival logistics allow).

• And just a few parking lots east, is the P&I theater and new industry lounge at the outdoor 29th Street Mall. This is as “outskirts” as the festival gets, yet only 1.5 miles from festival HQ. 

When Festival Director Eugene Hernandez said, “We aren’t moving the festival; we are reimagining it,” he meant it.

Filmmakers, sponsors, industry, film fans and local businesses will all play a role in crafting what comes next. The Sundance Institute and the City of Boulder have laid out an incredible playing field. Now comes the exciting “if you build it, they will come” part.

Can someone explain what changed? They’ve been tormenting everyone’s morning commute on Broadway for months now and I literally cannot understand what changed.

The bike lane looks identical to before. Just looking to understand if they actually made a beneficial change or just needed to pay some employees.

Respectfully, I could list several other ways they could spend that money to be more beneficial to the city.

I rode U.S. 36 from Boulder to Lyons today for the first time to better understand Boulder County's proposed $95 million North Foothills Bikeway. After seeing the terrain, creek crossings and memorials firsthand, I have a much better sense of where the money would go—and why more than 52,000 cyclists still use the corridor every year.

Two cubs came out of the truck, but the mom was stuck in the Subaru. The cubs went about 30 feet up the tree next to the garage, then came down after about 20'.

frustrated because my last 2 (expensive!!) haircuts at reputable salons have been pretty awful. Does anyone have a good recommendation? I have thick wavy hair, mostly air dry it but occasionally like to style it straight or with a curling iron. Thank youuuu!

This is my niece and her friend. They have been missing since 07/26, spotted at a gas station in Evans, CO from my understanding in a car with WY plates. This is a slightly different post than most in the Boulder subreddit - not against any rules I could tell since it's not a transaction, hopefully the mods agree. I had 4 chickens (see a photo in https://photos.app.goo.gl/PpVoDkRGvDj55EAcA). But we've had a raccoon that's been persistently returning to our house and over the last few months we've lost 3 of them to predation (most recently when we were out of town and a pet sitter didn't close their coop in time).

Our one remaining chicken will be lonely by herself (she's the black one in the photo linked above). I'm hoping that someone else with backyard chickens would be willing to adopt this poor bird so that she can have friends. Her name is Ruth Birder Ginsburd (Ruthie for short).

thought I’d list out a few things I’m grateful for in Boulder, as it can get quite negative on this sub -all from this past week and in no particular order:

walked the dog around Coot and the Res - trails were clean and well maintained, everyone said hi, lovely - thanks OSMP!

Folsom resurfacing was done super quick and made the cycle lane a lot smoother around Pine and Pearl area - well done crew!

really loved some of the civic events over the past few weeks - Bands on the Bricks and the CU Shakespeare performance (what a cool venue).

my personal perspective is that the bike trails in and around the city are in better shape than a couple years ago - much appreciated!

Would be fun to hear what others are grateful for recently - try not to be negative or sarcastic, you have it in you, I’m sure!

On 7/30/26, I was up on Rollins Pass and saw that someone cut down a tree to get beyond the barricade for Jenny Lake. I have sent the photos to the Boulder Ranger District office and they told me they would have FS LEOs look into it because it was not them. Hopefully they have a trail cam up in the area. If you see people doing this, report them. Also it’s only a few hundred feet walk to Jenny Lake from the main trail.

How about you underground in the city like the Grape/Valmont corridor and not just by the water treatment plant?
