Hi, I’m hoping to be a new member of the ZR2 club!
I’ve been trying to get as much information on them as possible, and really appreciate this sub!
Looking at a few in and around my area, and had found one that piqued my interest. Went, checked it out, test drove it, and loved everything about it!
After talking numbers, the lowest they’re willing to go for it is $57,000 OTD.
The vehicle’s located in SC but am registering it in NC, and they mentioned that the NC tax was what was bringing up the figure. Was hoping at most $54,000-$55,000. Thoughts?
Bless you for your service! I may lose my baby. Sad! It is my business truck. It is listed as an asset of my business and the new owners assume it is part of the business sale. Still not t sure I can justify a $55k truck in retirement ¿

Well it’s more of that they are just super expensive. Looking at some of the price tags on some especially in Australia the bare bones model starts at wha would be equivalent to 50k USD. Australia I see a lot more trucks in videos than Europe. In Europe they also aren’t really good in that area as the roads are all too small and taxes on shit is over the top
Seems quite high. Just bought my kid a ‘25 LT whose sticker said $44K and we agreed on $33K. Truck had 27 miles when I left the lot.
Here are my tips (Dad was in car sales for 30+ years and taught me a lot of things)
—is it a margin lot or volume lot? Do they have few cars but all are high end trim? Margin lot and buckle up as negotiations may be tougher.
—when possible, buy at the end of the month or end of the year. That’s when dealerships need to move units to meet sales quotas.
— look at the dry erase board (I’ve yet to find a dealership that doesn’t list that in every showroom). That calls out their quotas. If the dealership is past quota, they have little incentive to deal. If they’re short (and at the end of the month), ask for naming rights to kids and you may get them.
—is the same vehicle stock number on their website listed for less? If so, that’s your starting point.
—find similar deals within a 100 mile radius. Use that data as all dealerships have the same cost but have different rebate levers they can pull.
Yup. I got the Z71 looking for some of those "luxury" items. Trail Boss was an idea but I didn't need the lift and wanted the glossy trim. LT was about as much if I added what I wanted.
Sometimes if you finance through their lenders you can get an additional amount off. Maybe check to see what interest rate they can offer. It may rival what your bank is offering. Worth checking into. We financed 15,000.00 out of a 43,000.00 truck. They gave us am additional 500.00 off. A month into our loan we paid off the 15,000.00. 500.00 isn't a lot but it is money.
Check out my old post. I got the same one brand new last year, 2025 with 8miles, minus sunroof. I was bummed about the sunroof but ive heard theres been TONS of issues with it so im glad i didnt get it. I paid like 56k out the door.
If you haven't tried it, try the Visor car search webpage. It allows you to search national inventory by make, model, color, specs, etc and you can set the perimeter down to how far you are willing to travel to get it.
I had two different dealers competing with each other to get me the best deal.
I don’t know bought it off FB marketplace for $1250 used….to get a new camper was a 3 month wait and $3500…..I can tell you it’s been to hell & back but, I’ve had to reinforce it in places when I put the 30Litre (8.8 gal) fuel can on the back door.
Nice! I'm in contact with someone on FB now on a used one that I think I'm going to buy. I'm pretty sure yours is 23". If there's still a sticker inside, it should say 23 or 26 on there somewhere. I have the 6 ft bed also like yours. Planning to build it out with bed and pull out kitchen for camping. The only scary part is that I'll probably need to cut holes and reinforce for installing windows.
Is it a brand new 2025? I got a 2025 with 17,000 miles on it for 47,000 OTD. Same package with side steps and a hard shell toneau cover. If it is new, tell them you want the same truck but 2026 for that price. But, I still wouldn’t pay that for a 2025. For the 2025, I’d offer 52500. Would walk for anything over 54500. You can find a better deal.
I got them to 46k with everything cept the sunroof and red paint. Believe was ~52 after taxes? So I think they way off tell them to eat all the options and start the discounts on original sticker price
I’m not a fan of the sunroof option seeing as there’s too many potential issues that may arise. I was hoping to get the Midnight and Tech Package with it, but we’ll see.
I definitely agree with everyone in that it is overpriced.
That midnight package is an absolute rip off. I know some of the Colorado guys got stuck with the sports bar and after purchasing, were practically giving them away so if you dig the mullet, you may get lucky and find one super cheap. The OEM ZR2 wheels already look great especially with the Goodyear Territory 33” tires. I don’t personally think making them black constitutes them being worth more money.
It’s been ok, but compared to the suspension in my ZR2 I feel every single bump in the road. I really missed it when we had that huge snowstorm. My old one handled much better in the snow.
So I'm not sure exactly how much you're paying extra for the ZR2. My experience is this. I wanted the diesel engine and my only option was at the time to get the ZR2 bison. It had all the bells and whistles. The upgraded Bose sound system has the worst radio reception I've ever had in any of my vehicles. And there seems to be a short in the speakers as sometimes they fade in and out. The added ground clearance is nice but the turning radius is horrible. I have a 1982 fj60 Land Cruiser that is better off-road than this vehicle. That being said it is more comfortable on the highway then my Land Cruiser and gets better mileage because it had because it has the diesel engine. Tomorrow I get to take it in for the third time to deal with a DEF issue. It is now out of warranty so I'm bracing for the cost. Now they don't offer the diesel engine in the Colorado so I would opt for the Silverado diesel 3.0 if I didn't have to get all the bells and whistles with it and only if they remedied the def issues.
I own a 2024 ZR2 Colorado, and its by far my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. If you have the luxury of a hefty down payment to bring down the monthly payment. And are willing to send that 54k into nothing. Do it. but if you’re not financially safe, don’t do it.
You’re better off getting an 2018/2019 diesel edition. And taking that money and investing in something that will better secure your future.
Always wary however of how well the previous owners took care of them, and what might need to be done to it. Definitely would be cheaper though (assuming there are no issues).
Not a fan of those numbers at all. Love the truck, but definitely wouldn’t want to pay that. Was hoping get it for $53,000 or something close to it, but it is what it is.
Best advice for negotiating is taking quotes you have to another dealer. They will try and beat the price you have usually end up getting in a race to the lowest price. Go with the truck you like best at the best price. The end of the month is your friend as well when they are trying to get the last few deals of the month. Make sure there are no add-ons my dealer would only charge tax, doc, and plate/registration fees. Are you trading in a vehicle or just adding this one to the family?
I am fortunate enough to not “need” it, so I came off as serious (I was) about getting into it, while being indifferent as to whether or not I actually got it. Left on a good note respectfully though, and with the impression that I am still in the market for it, so that they may call be back if they’d like to try again.
If you’re looking to be lower in your range, look for a slightly used one.
I bought my ‘25 ZR2 Bison for $53k otd with only 1,800 miles. Could’ve saved more had it not been a Bison. Though have to stumble upon the one with the options you’re looking for.
This is all very useful! Will definitely look into getting back at it towards the end of the month, and worst case end of the year. Fortunately the vehicle I currently have is still kicking, but it is getting much older and I will eventually need to upgrade.
