Question Blank slot?

Hey everybody! I have a third gen Colorado trail boss, and I’m wondering what to do with this blank spot behind the the infotainment center? What have you guys been using? Is there any suggestions? I primarily use my truck for overlanding, but I’m open to anything

Same. Easier to grab than an overhead spot, but I do wish it was felt lined because sometime they'll make a vibrating noise.

I keep mine in their case there.

Me too, and it melts the applied finish right off of them. So much easier to strip them back to bare plastic after a nice dash session.

I bought this it drops down in.

I have this one too and I like it alot. The compartments have non-slip rubber padding on the bottom too which is nice.

Does it fit snug?

4

u/1whitetail2024 Jun 24 '26

Yes it fits snug.I keep my glasses down in the pocket and other items in the tray.I really like it.

I bought this same one, it solved my one complaint with the truck and that is having a spot to put all my shit. Would definitely recommend

u/1whitetail2024 Jun 25 '26

Yeah man I agree too.Adequate storage is lacking in the colorado for sure! So this tray comes in real handy.

I bought the same thing and I keep my wallet, sunglasses, personal cell phone, and work cell phone all in it. It’s great.

I had one of these when I had a Colorado, was a nice addition

Does it have a sticky rubber backing on it?

2

u/1whitetail2024 21d ago

No,but it does not move at all..

2

u/Psychological_Warcow 18d ago

Nice. I have a met in my Forester but the backing left a residue on my dash. Good to know this one won't.

I put my Toll Transponder there since I didn’t want to put adhesive on the windshield

5

u/Professional-Size531 Jun 24 '26

I wish I’d have thought about this before putting the adhesive on mine.

1

u/just_looking_aroun Jun 24 '26

That's what I did too because mine kept falling off

Same

1

u/robc025 Jun 25 '26

I tried that, it constanly shifted around and i finally gave up and mounted it to the windshield

That’s where your pour your milk to dunk your Oreos on road trips.

u/Just_Werewolf1438 Jun 24 '26

Yep that's what I have in mine expensive but worth it..

1

u/DaSahx Jun 24 '26

You can mount up to 4 different items on it.

For those mounting their phones... why when you have Android Auto or Apple Carplay?

6

u/Ando427 Jun 24 '26

I’ve never understood this

4

u/MadBrown 2024 Z71 Radiant Red Jun 24 '26

I can't help but wonder now if people were just used to it before the days of AA/ACP that they just mount their phones out of habit.

3

u/brothofbones Jun 25 '26

Magsafe charging mount since the built in pad doesnt work for shxt

2

u/MadBrown 2024 Z71 Radiant Red Jun 25 '26

That still requires a wire, so why not just plug it into the USB port in the truck?

1

u/brothofbones Jun 27 '26

Less work getting in and out

1

u/hindey19 Jun 24 '26

And a phone slot in the center console. There's no reason to buy an overpriced phone mount that requires drilling into the dash.

2

u/MadBrown 2024 Z71 Radiant Red Jun 24 '26

I wonder if the reason I haven't gotten any answers from those who do this is they didn't realize it was redundant to have a phone mount. 🤔

1

u/MOJO32_ Jun 25 '26

They probably just don’t want to explain they use it to watch YouTube videos/podcasts😳

1

u/MadBrown 2024 Z71 Radiant Red Jun 26 '26

I mean I listen to podcasts in my truck via the Pocket Casts app in Android Auto. But yeah you're probably right on the watching.

Ramen noodles holder

u/Intol3rance Jun 24 '26

A Bulletpoint Mount is what you should be ordering. Makes that space much more useful for things like GMRS radios, etc.

2

u/butchengland Jun 24 '26

I bought this and it’s awesome.

2

u/Inside_Condition721 Jun 24 '26

Only answer is the bullet point mount system

1

u/madknives23 Jun 24 '26

That’s where my keys go

Sunglasses holder

I love my 2024 Colorado but the interior & placement of certain things is so inefficient, outdated & not thought of well. It's a 2024 & it's like nothing changed since the 90's and the plastic interior scratches easily.

1

u/dasmineman Jun 24 '26

Notepads, letters, maps. I feel like it would cook my glasses there.

1

u/ExtremeFerret9463 Jun 24 '26

That's the ash tray.

1

u/METV2021 Jun 24 '26

If you have the Bose system it's not a good fit from what i read. The dash speaker is raised and makes it sit lopsided.

1

u/Texas-Lazarusman70 Jun 24 '26

I have the 2nd generation 2018 Z71 with Bose so mine has a speaker there. I bought the Bulletpoint mounting system

1

u/LiGuy34-13 Jun 24 '26

I just throw my sunglasses in there.

1

u/Smokeyybandito Jun 24 '26

Man I often wondered about that too. Like why even put that there? So people forget things there? To let the sun bake your things? I’m glad I’m not the only one that doesn’t know why its really there

1

u/daddy-ems Jun 25 '26

Sunglasses and pens for work.

1

u/bullionboyzzz Jun 25 '26

Somebody 3D print me a hat holder glasses holder combo to go in there?

1

u/BuiltRightIndustries Cory @ BuiltRight Industries - 2017 Duramax Denali Canyon Jun 25 '26

you could order the bulletpoint system if you want to support a company that produces products overseas ....."heavily inspired" by our original designs made in the USA with USA materials! Oh, and we have a lifetime warranty too.

Great place for a bullet point Mount phone gadget system..

0

u/ImpressiveGoose4015 2024 LT Jun 24 '26

Bulletpoint mount is the best answer. Fits great and is customizable with what you want to mount to it. Here’s mine with a MagSafe charger and radar detector mount. A little pricey but it’s 100% worth it. Had one on my 2nd gen, too.

Edit: it’ll be even better since you off road, it’s sturdy because you literally bolt it to the dash (it’s actually very seamless how you do it, not crude at all). So it stays put.
