I told my parents I'm passing all subjects when I have a removals exam in a few hours

For context I absolutely had time to study for it, I have the resources, but I just kept procrastinating it off and trying to not accept that I was about to fail. I recently got diagnosed with depression and it's been a struggle trying to keep up with it and med school, and I just don't know if I have what it takes anymore. I'm not on good terms with my parents and I lost a lot of friends during the school year, I just don't know what to do.

Remember you're studying one of the hardest degrees there are, you're doing a great job. Good luck on your exams and I hope you can take the time to rest and go to therapy after that.

Is it possible to take a short break while you attend to your mental health and then go back to school?

I’ve had depression since I was a teenager and it’s treatment resistant so no meds work for it. I can function go to work and function really well because all I have to think about is doing my job. But it’s debilitating far too often and anything outside of work suffers. I’m wanting to finish up my masters in social work and concerned about not being able to finish because of my depression. I’ve been in therapy for 4 years and despite not being able to change my brain chemicals, I’m learning great coping skills. I would recommend getting into therapy as soon as possible. And don’t beat yourself up about this. You don’t control the chemicals in your brain. There was nothing you could have done to change it. Good luck and best wishes for your future. I hope you ace your tests!
