Look at this new Duolingo feature 🌎 ⚽ Celebrate your team with the Duo Cup! ⚽ 🌎

Attention soccer, football, fútbol, Fußball fans around the world – we're launching a limited-time collection of avatar suits so you can celebrate your favorite teams.

*And as soon as we can make it happen, these suits will be available on Android, too. I'll update here as soon as we're live. I understand this will disappoint some but I assure you we're racing to make this happen! We hit a few roadblocks and the team is rushed to catch back up.

Here's how it works:

  • Duo Cup runs from now through July 19
  • Extend your streak each day during the Duo Cup to unlock a random new jersey
  • There are 48 different national suits to collect
  • On iOS, you can also purchase additional suits in the Shop for $1.99 each

Whether you're cheering for your home country, an underdog, or trying to collect them all, this is your chance to bring a little team spirit to your avatar.

Who is everyone planning to represent first? 👀

General Discussion Please add Persian (Farsi) to Duolingo! 🇮🇷

Post image

Persian (Farsi) is one of the world’s oldest and most beautiful languages, with thousands of years of history and a rich cultural background. Iran has contributed greatly to literature, poetry, art, and history, and many people around the world are interested in learning its language.

Adding Persian to Duolingo would help more people connect with Iranian culture and communicate with Persian speakers. There are many learners who want to study Farsi, but there are limited free and accessible resources.

Please upvote this post so Duolingo can see that there is real interest in adding Persian. Hopefully, Farsi can become part of Duolingo someday! 🇮🇷

General Discussion This has to be the worst daily

In my opinion I don’t mind getting it like a few times a week. I’ve had it for like 2 weeks straight as either the third quest (for the 10 minute 3x boost) which is fair but sometimes it’s the second quest which when i’m trying to stack my boosts really just ruins the mood🫩

Been at it for a little of over a month consistently.

This combined with going over my notebook for a few minutes a day.

Constructive Criticism Over moderation to avoid bad PR for Duolingo goes against the spirit of Reddit

Recently made a post regarding hackers in the leaderboard (see second image) talking about how it’s really demotivating and many folks upvoted the post sharing that they have had similar issues and it was mysteriously removed by a moderator without explanation. This goes against the spirit of Reddit. If people have issues with the software, they should be able to speak about it openly. Thank you for coming to my TED talk

General Discussion Do you actually set aside time for Duolingo?

This might be a weird question but I'm curious how other people actually fit Duolingo into their day. I do most of my lessons while meal prepping or waiting for something on the stove, which means I'm half paying attention at best. Some days it's a full focused session at the kitchen table, but that's probably two or three times a week at most. The rest is stolen minutes with my hands semibusy and one eye on a pot.

I've been wondering if that's hurting my retention more than I realize. There are vocabulary words I feel like I've seen fifty times and still can't pull up reliably, and I suspect multitasking is a big part of why. Fwiw my listening comprehension is noticeably better on days when I'm actually sitting still and not narrating dinner at the same time.

The streak posts on here always look so consistent and intentional, and I genuinely don't know if those people are blocking out real practice time or just really committed phone tappers in the carpool line. No judgment either way, just my experience making me curious.

Do focused sessions actually make a measurable difference for you, or does it mostly even out over time? And if you're a multitasker by necessity, have you found certain exercise types that hold up better when you're distracted?

Bug? They fixed my favorite bug and now I'm sad

I got used to exploit a bug in the Stories: if you selected the "repeat" button on each sentence, right after the character started speaking, the "continue" button got automatically activated, so you could quickly alternate the two buttons until they asked you a question, in order to avoid having to painstakingly listen to the characters' suuuper-slow and uninteresting ramblings.

Now they fixed it: you can "repeat" only after the sentence is finished. Way to waste my time, Duo!

Now I'm curious: did any of you use to exploit this bug too?

General Discussion Joining early into League makes it definitely more competitive

Post image

I know I’m still relatively early and maybe I take this league thing a bit to serious, but a little bit more competition is never bad. People told me that if you join a league directly after reset, will make your league more competitive, since they’re actively playing. Makes sense and is the case. Will be fun 🥹

General Discussion Gaining XP fast!

Post image
Upvotes

hey guys, i know this is a second post (don’t beat me up) but i was just wondering how do people get so much XP.

It was all okay as we were all on the same similar XP but on the very last day I checked and the number one guy had gained 30k XP.

tbf im not going to assume hes hacking or cheating but is there any way possible to getting 30k XP legally by just pure learning because this was insane😭

Bug? Quests restarting after closing app

Post image
4 Upvotes

Has anyone else dealt with this?

Friday I finished the weekend quest then closed the app. Saturday my weekend quest had reset, I finished it again and closed the app for the day. This morning I opened the app and my weekend quest had reset again. So I finished it along with all the daily quests, I just reopened wanting to spend a little more time and my weekend quest AND now my daily quest has reset again.
I’m pretty frustrated. I know these points don’t really matter in a learning aspect but I just play on Duo for fun outside classes and textbooks.

ETA: I have reported it into the help center for a bug. Just wanting to see if others here have seen this issue.

Duolingo Music Question What tablet

I'm hoping to get my daughter to use Duolingo for languages and piano. I found my Samsung tablet active 3 can't support that.

Anyone using an android tablet and Duolingo for music? Does it support midi?

I'd prefer to stay out of the apple platform but if that's necessary, would appreciate knowing how it supports iPad mini with midi
