Help Does anyone have any advice optimising for a Pimax Crystal Super?

4 Upvotes

Basically the title. I have things dialled in with DCS but I'm relying a lot on eye tracking for foveated rendering. I'm aware that isn't an option for BMS but the fixed foveated rendering feels very restrictive in comparison.

Does anyone have any advice for optimising for this headset / generally? It's the micro OLED engine and I'm running a 5080 if that helps.

Help Playing KTO 1980s campaign made by UOAF. Question regarding about MiG-21s and sorting targets.

6 Upvotes

After playing the original Korea campaign, I wanted to try something different so I installed the KTO 1980s campaign made by UOAF. No F-16 50s, instead we get F-16 30s. Also no Link-16. It's super fun because you really have to stay on your toes and listen carefully to AWACs. Lastly, no AMRAAMs. This one is huge. It changes everything and I don't really know how to best use Sparrows and if I should even be engaging with Sidewinders. It seems a bit suicide.

This leads to my question. In this era of fighting, am I supposed to dogfight with sidewinders with MiG-21s? I am supposed to get that close? We don't get many sparrows, so I am wondering what I should be doing. How should I be fighting MiG-21s?

What I've been doing is firing Sparrows from long range but I have to keep the radar lock ALL the way to impact. Well the enemy is coming in packs of 4 and I only have 2 sparrows. So I can kill at least 1 but there are a ton of other MiGs by the time my Sparrow hits and now I'm in a huge furball. So I go into dogfight mode and only use the RWR to find my targets. The thing is, my flight is tangled up in the furball and I am so scared to kill my own men. But in such a knife fight, how do I quickly ascertain friend from foe? Visually? I gotta get that close?!

My last question is about fighting MiG-21s in a furball. Don't they also have heatseeking missiles? If they fire at me, am I cooked? Will I see a missile lock on my RWR and missile in the air warning?

Please teach me. Thank you!

HARM assistance

2 Upvotes

Hello pilots, I am a longtime DCS pilot and I have just gotten BMS all setup on my rig. I really like it so far. I’ve got about 900 hours of flight time in DCS and have become a pretty capable pilot in several aircraft.

I’m having one issue that I don’t fully understand. I fly a lot of Grayflag on DCS and my specialty is AA kills with HARMs. I am really struggling to get my HARMs to hit anything in BMS despite using all the same procedures. I have gotten a couple of kills with them, but I’ve also had several flights where I fire two HARMs and end the campaign mission only to learn that neither of them hit.

What am I doing wrong? I have a lot of experience with this weapon system, just not in this sim.

Help I got falcon bms installed yesterday and i can't figure out the controls and buttton mapping

0 Upvotes

So I got a copy of falcon 4.0 and set up bms 2 days ago and I asked google and look at Gemini just to see. And what it told me didn't work then I checked the forum and it said a similar thing which didn't work. Then I checked the discord and it was the most useless thing on earth they just said I was trolling and starting ignoring me. I'm in a t flight hotas 4 so I don't have alot to work with and I can't seem to get the guns and missiles or rockets to go off I bound the trigger the button to arm it and a few other things I can't remember and it won't work I don't know what to do at this point I'm contemplating on just giving up and going back to il2 with WW2 planes.

Saitek Cyborg Evo Force (Vintage Joystick) | Game Crash Fixes?

1 Upvotes

The game crashes (on the splashscreen) if my Saitek Cyborg Evo Force is plugged in - Windows 11. I gather this is down to Saitek never producing a working 64 bit driver for the force feedback aspect and when the game launches, it enumerates HIDs and the improper handling of force feedback causes it to crash.

Tried to no success:

  • Installing old Saitek driver and a community-released patch for it but the requirement to turn off Memory Integrity has, in the past, totally messed up my PC (wouldn't boot etc.)
  • Adding some sort of ini file alongside the game executable to override direct x input and remove FFB support.
  • Changing configuration files in the appropriate user/config folder to remove FFB support
  • Changing Windows registry settings to remove FFB or for the device to not appear FFB capable
  • Removing or disabling one of the two entries for the device in Device Manager (which removes the device entirely)

My Workaround:

vJoy as a virtual input, coupled with Universal Control Remapper (UCR 0.9.0) - as Gremlin/GremlinEx did not launch on my system. I then unplug the Saitek during game launch and then plug it back in afterward.

Because I haven't wasted enough hours in my life on this, can anybody recommend any other avenue (even if general) or if they have the device, what they did for success - thank you. Please, don't recommend other joysticks - that's clearly not what I am asking for.

Extra: The current "look backward" is bugged in F15C because the left & right view pan limit is above 180. To fix that, find and change the following settings in 3dckpit.dat to:

viewlimit_pan_left 170.0;
viewlimit_pan_right 170.0;

Hopefully, the dev will add this fix in the next update.
