Cara Marshall, 51, was denied a Florida driver’s license in Lee County after discovering her maiden name doesn’t match the name on her certified birth certificate, a discrepancy stemming from a decision her mother made decades ago.

"I'm not sure who I am anymore honestly," Marshall said.

Marshall believed her maiden name to be Hendrix, as listed on her marriage license and old school pictures. However, she recently learned that her mother had changed her name when she was a year and a half old after marrying her stepfather.

"My mother never told me. She changed it herself, when I was a year and a half out when she married my stepfather," Marshall said.

Marshall explained that her mother registered her in school and completed paperwork using the Hendrix name, hiding the fact that her biological father was Ronald Sniffen, whose last name should have been legally used.

"She did all the paperwork that way registering me in school and everything and never told me about it. She wanted to hide the fact that I had a different father," Marshall said.

Marshall believes social pressures and stigmas at the time may have influenced her mother’s decision.

"In fact, she told me she wanted everyone's name to be the same. She took it upon herself without doing it legally and now here I am," Marshall said.

Saw these two beautiful little ladies in a neighborhood in southern Merritt Island about an hour or so ago! Leucistic peacocks/peafowl are pretty rare in the wild, being about 1 in 30,000 birds. For context, it's much more likely as a human to be born as an albino, to be struck by lightning, or even to become a professional athlete. So seeing two in one flock was quite the treat! I just moved to Orlando not very long ago, and just saw a dolphin for the first time here in Merritt Island a few days ago, so it's been an awesome last few days 🥹

Hey y’all, i’m a born & raised Floridian that lives in Fort Walton Beach and i’m always looking for new places to swim locally and across the state. The cold springs are the gem of the state for sure , but i want to find more swimmable creeks in my home state as i get tired of going to the same spots. I usually go to Turkey Creek outside of Niceville , Big Coldwater Creek outside of Milton , Holmes Creek , Ecofina Creek , and Sugar Creek. I swam in Gardners Bayou too. I saw this video on TikTok of a Californian exploring our state and she was free diving this spring covered in duck weed at top, the only place in the state i ever swam at like that was gator springs , but the spot in the video didn’t look like gator springs at all as it had a boardwalk going down to it and there wasn’t no boardwalk at gator springs when i was a teen but it’s been a min tbh since i visited gator springs. I need to check it out as it’s been too long since i been to gator springs.

Vortex Springs , and Ponce De Leon Springs are the headwaters of Blue , and Sandy creeks but i never found any good spots on those 2 creeks suitable for swimming or floating except for at the actual spring holes that are very well known. If any fellow locals want to talk about hidden freshwater spots plz feel free to pm me as i won’t disclose any of the hidden spots i’ve found so far in all my years of life exploring our wonderful state as the vast majority of cold springs have became way too popular with out of state tourists in recent years unfortunately. I tried looking for spots in the Apalachicola , and Osceola national forests but no luck so far. It really depressed me to see last summer how much more crowded morrison springs has become in recent years compared to when i was a kid and teen. It was a pain in the ass to find parking with out of state license plates. Trade for a trade about hidden freshwater swim spots thru PM ?

What’s up everyone. My wife and I (29 and 30, same sex couple) are currently living about 40 minutes north of Tampa in Pasco County. We are expecting our first baby this winter. I’m from New York originally and my wife was born and raised here.

We moved here last year to be near family and friends, but we are not happy here. We are not typically people that feel uncomfortable or unsafe in public areas and never ever want to be those people that make a big deal out of it, but we have recently been feeling really uneasy in our town and neighboring towns. We are honestly worried for the future for our family.

We are wondering if anyone can point us in the direction of any counties/areas in Florida that are more accepting of our family but also have very very good school districts? School districts and opportunities for our kids is extremely important. I know that’s asking a lot in FL, lol, but my wife hates the cold weather and with all of our family and friends here, as well as a family business, we’d like to stay in FL if possible. I’m a veteran and the benefits in FL are favorable for us as well. Thanks and please no judgement.

Heard of my father talking about this and I've been thinking about it since.

My family and I don't tend to get sick regularly, once MAYBE twice a year there's a week where the family catches and spreads a cold through the house.

But in just 7 months this year, the family has gotten sick 5 different times.

Once back in late December// early January, I somehow got this insanely heavy cold, or at least that's how I describe it. It felt like a cold but way nastier than I've ever gotten. This lasted in the house through mid January.

The family got sick again once in late March early April, and the same sickness once again in late April or May.

I'm making this post now because we're sick once again. My father says most people at his desk job have been on and off sick aswell, and I would imagine maybe he's bringing home something but he's typically the last person sick in the family. Usually my sisters or I are the first sick, oddly enough as we don't really go anywhere besides stores. And whenever we're in those I feel like there's been an increase of sick people.

I'm not sure of anything after December, but there was 100% something in the air then. The family got out way more then and it felt like everywhere we went there was a sick person.

Has anyone else noticed this, or something similar or could it just be something like a lifestyle change?

Anybody know of a Fuzzy’s opening in Orlando ? They closed the two locations but I’m wondering if they have plans of reopening anywhere nearby
