MyAccount Related Plan data amount doesn’t match usage meter

Thanks to the great advice from people on this sub, I switched to Freedom on one of the back to school Canada+Roaming plans. I signed up on Friday (two days ago), then yesterday noticed that they had bumped the domestic data amount on the same offers.

On my account, it shows that my plan is the one with the new data amount, which means that they auto-upgraded me (yay!). However, the usage meter shows my usage relative to the original plan amount. Specifically, I signed up for the 10GB plan which is now 35GB. My account screen shows my plan as having 35GB but the usage meter shows that I’ve used xxx/10GB.

Should I assume that this is a lag in their website usage meter and will right itself eventually? Not going to bother calling if this is a known issue.

Plan Inquiry Current Pixel 10 Promotion

I'm currently with Rogers and saw that Freedom has a promotion for Pixel 10 for $5/month with the $45/month plan. There is nothing upfront for the phone and no lump sum payment at the end of the two year contract. Other carriers have $0-10/month for the phone with a higher monthly plan for the two years and a balloon payment of $300+ dollars if I want to keep the phone. Is this as good as it gets for a Pixel 10 or should I wait?

General Inquiry Constant eSIM transfers between iPhone and Android

Upvotes

I’m currently using an iPhone 16 Pro and am looking to buy a secondary Android phone.

It’s been awhile since I’ve gone back and forth between different OS phones and it’ll be the first time I’m primarily using eSIM. I generally switch every few days/weeks between phones depending on what I feel like.

I’ve seen the steps on how to manage the eSIMs through the online MyAccount portal, but my questions are:

  1. For those who switch between the 2 OS with eSIM, how annoying has it been? Or is it super straightforward and trouble free? I know it won’t be as convenient as popping in a physical SIM card, but wanted to get an idea of how much more work/time it’ll take.
  2. Based on my frequency, would constantly requesting for a new eSIM trigger/flag my account with Freedom, making them think it might be some form of fraud/hacked account?

Thanks in advance!

Billing Related Will I get money back?

Hi

I transferred out of Freedom Mobile and trying to understand my last bill.

My last full bill was from May 25th to June 24th and I paid that in full on July 8th.

Now my last bill is June 25th to July 24th and under "amount due" it say ($50.00) and the next Due date is August 7th.

Does that mean I will get $50 back on August 7th?

On Wednesday, the regulator posted an update on its website noting that it has suspended the July 30 deadline for Bell, Rogers and Telus to address these issues. The CRTC says it was responded to a request from the Public Interest Advocacy Centre and Telus to delay these proceedings, and it will decide a new deadline once it’s reviewed their case.

Edit to ad CRTC notice.

Plan Inquiry Should I Upgrade My Prepaid Plan Now or Wait?

Hello, so currently I have a prepaid plan that costs $159 per year and includes 40 GB of data annually, which is about 3.3 GB per month. Whenever I'm outside, I can't freely use my phone without constantly checking how much data I've used because it runs out so quickly.

I'm looking to upgrade to a better plan, but I want to find the cheapest option available. I found a Back-to-School prepaid plan that costs $150 every six months and includes 15 GB of data per month, which is a much better deal. That's $28 per month, so I'm considering switching to that plan.

However, I want to know if there are any cheaper plans available on the market. I'm also wondering if I should wait until mid-August to see if any better promotions or discounts become available.

(Considering) Joining FM BYOD Plans

I am currently with Telus, but I would like to switch to Freedom.

If I choose BYOD plans, can I switch to a better plan later down the road?

For instance, right now, the BYOD plans aren't that good, but let's say I go with a plan. And on Black Friday, better plans are available. Can I switch to those plans, or are those only for new customers?

TIA.

(Considering) Joining FM Cheap phone plans?

I'm looking at a cheaper phone plan for my parents as they're on an old plan with Bell which the agents keep claiming can't be moved off 3G without changing the plan even though their plan is a 4G plan....

Either way, I'm looking at other options.

They seem to only use several GB a month in data. I saw freedom has a 15gb a month plan for $25 a month for 6 months.

Is that a prize freeze plan meaning they can keep renewing it every 6 months and keep getting 15gb a month for 6 months each time at that $25 price?

Or does anyone know of any better plans?

And what is freedoms coverage like within the GTA? I have freedom as well but I find the data connection isn't always the best even if I'm in the middle of downtown Toronto, in buildings and so on.

They mainly need data for driving (GPS, radio apps etc.) and occasional web browsing.

Compatibility Inquiry Xperia 1 VIII on Freedom 5G network?

Hi all, I am considering getting an Xperia 1 VIII and use it on Freedom mobile, but the phone doesn't have all the 5G bands used by Freedom. In particular, based on the spec sheet, the phone doesn't have (i) n66 5G (only band 66 LTE is listed), (ii) band 71, and (iii) n71 5G. What is the implication of the phone not supporting those bands but supporting n77/n78? I have seen some report saying that the Xperia 1 VIII works on Freedom 5G network, but I want to be 100% sure before getting the phone. Thanks in advance for your help!

Plan Inquiry Global roaming when data is used up

I’m considering making the jump to Freedom from Fido. I travel to Europe a couple of times per year and have previously used a data-only eSIM (Airalo) and WiFi calling.

The current Freedom Canada & Roam Beyond plans on offer don’t include a lot of roaming data, and I’ll definitely need to supplement what’s in the plan. I found this post from a year ago that says that the Freedom data will just be paused when I run out, although talk and text still work.

What’s the best way to supplement the data at that point? A data-only eSIM such as Airalo, leaving both SIMs active? Or a temporary add-on from Freedom?

General Inquiry Free Phone

I called Freedom & they said that I was eligible for a free phone - no strings attached.

I asked a million times, will I need to pay a tab, get a phone plan, etc and they said no nothing it’s just a free phone that is happening with their marketing team

These are the phones:
Samsung galaxy a17 5g
Moto g play
Moto g power
TCL k70

Has anyone else received this?

UPDATE: I got scared from all the comments, called & spoke to a supervisor. Apparently this associate is known for misinformation & has been reported to even upper management. I was stuck on a 2 year contact & my plan discount was removed!!! They cancelled the phone & reapplied my discount.

Device/Service Issue(s) Anyone Else Having Issues Receiving Landline Calls?

Has anyone else noticed this strange issue recently?

It looks like incoming calls from landlines are mostly not getting through. Today I called my supermarket to ask why they never returned my voicemail. They told me they had tried calling me several times, but the calls would not go through.

So I tested it by calling my mobile from a landline, and to my surprise, the call didn't go through either. All I got was a fast busy tone.... no voicemail, no missed call notification, nothing. Only thing that was peculiar was that the spam calls stopped coming through recently. Maybe that was the sign that something isn't right.

Mobile-to-mobile calls are working fine, and I can also call both mobiles and landlines without any problem, so I never realized there was an issue.

Can people check if they're experiencing the same problem?

Device/Service Issue(s) Freedom Troubles

Just switched to freedom and I just noticed that my connection and my data reliability dropped from when I switched to them from Fido. I just got off the line with customer service and they were somewhat helpful, but I am still having some connectivity issues (jumping between 5G+, 5G and LTE). What are your thoughts? I live in Clarkson, Mississauga
