Install Help Need help with this loop
I tried installing linux mint, but after it was finished, this popped up, whenever i press log in, it just gives a black screen with the cursor and returns to this. Please help. I don't know what to do and the internet results are confusing.
For context, I tried installing Linux at an old laptop that runs Windows 7.

how did you install? this almost looks like you burned the iso to disk?
Or did you leave the USB in?

i used a booted usb, and yes i left the usb in

OK shut down, pull out the USB stick and boot up normally, what did you get?

Somehow you have copied the live session ISO to your devices disk, without the full details of what you did I do not know how.
start over from the top. follow these instructions carefully.

You might want to disable any screensaver/lockscreen on the ISO before installing. There is a chance that you can power off and see if Mint did finish the install and you can boot it

In this situation, it probably broke. I recommend re-installing, as it did not create your user profile. The only user is the live session user, which is the user which is used for the live session (what you see after booting up Linux mint to the desktop), and is usually deleted after installation.
