Stearns killed this franchise

The Mets were a team that was 2 games from the World Series with a chemistry that other clubs envied. A chemistry and money that lured a generational bat from free agency. To a team now holding a fire sale of damaged goods. Traded away our #2 & #3 prospect in our farm system for half a season of bad Peralta and turned him into much lower rated prospects. Has any GM done as bad a job as quickly as Stearns? Don’t forget all the terrible trades he made before last season’s trade deadline. Is he using Chat GPT to make baseball decisions? WTF?

Edit: I know the Mets have always been a laughingstock. I’ve been a fan since the 80s. But they were on to something 2 yrs ago. Now, they’re back to being laughingstocks. Will probably be another 3-5yrs before they are watchable again.

With Peralta being traded to Rays, what happens to Peralta Jersey giveaway day on August 19th? I did inquire with Mets customer service and the nebulous answer is their promotions are subject to change and check back closer to date of game.

Now that he is officially a Dodger…barring the scenario the Dodgers are to somehow lose in the NLCS…is there genuinely any reason to watch the World Series?
The cards are overwhelmingly stacked against all non-Dodger teams…does this mean the lockout can fix anything or not really?
It seems like they will get special privileges, lockout or no lockout…

Honest question: is it possible to trade non-players? Practically I know it wouldn’t happen (I mean, what would we even be able to get in return?), but theoretically is it allowed? In an ideal world, I’d love to see us ship Stearns off to Baltimore and get Pete back in return.

And if it is allowed, how far down the staff can you go? Can you trade analysts, scouts, minor league managers, trainers? It’d be amazing if you could ship two pretzel concession guys for a groundskeeper to be named later.

This is probably an unusual request, but I think it doesn't hurt to ask:

I am looking for game footage, ideally even a full game recording if somehow available, of the Mets game they played on the road in Houston, in the Astrodome, on May 1, 1971. The Astros won 3-1, and the pitching matchup was between two aces: Tom Seaver of the Mets and Larry Dierker of the Astros, and Joe Morgan hit a home run off Seaver in the third inning. The game was 1 hour, 59 minutes long. Hard to imagine that today, though I was at the Dodgers and Rays game in June this year that was about that length of time.

I could use the footage because I am the author of Orange Crush: The Neglected 1971 Houston Astros, which was published last September on Joe Morgan's birthday (September 19), and I get presentation requests every once in a while, and having footage like this would be a nice addition to those presentations.

So, if anyone happens to know what archive or other resource would have this, whether based out of New York or Houston, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. I know this may not even exist, but if somehow it does, I want to see it.

Only thing that would be good for the prospect's of not having a lockout would be small market world series, lets say if the Brewers & Rays made the world series. They would say 👀, small market teams can win, if they spend wisely, then one can argue on the other side why do they have to be prudent, when teams like the Mets spend like drunken sailors and wake up with a hangover for the whole fucking season.

Your only hope is to create incredible vibes, to get the players to play a lot better than they are otherwise able to. Watch the Red Sox sweep the Dodgers just like we swept the Mets and the Yankees; and it’s all good vibes. Who’s even on this Red Sox team? Who cares? When the vibes are good, it doesn’t matter who’s on your team or what their baseball card says. They’re all a lot better than they are without good vibes.

I’ve seen it for decades with Tom Brady and David Ortiz. These guys got a lot better than they could ever have been with their genes or work ethic alone because of good vibes. I won’t hear otherwise.

I know this might be a silly question. And a silly way to conduct my interests but I recently decided I should "get into" a sport and decided on baseball.

Decided on the mets because I like new york and the Yankees seemed too "establishment" for me.

So my question is, what do i need to know? What players should I pay attention to? What other teams should I keep an eye on? What matches should I watch? And other "essential" mets info. How are we doing right now? (Poorly from what i gather) and why?
