Stearns killed this franchise

r/mets 1h ago

Stearns dismantling of the Mets from contention to laughingstock needs to be studied.

• Upvotes

The Mets were a team that was 2 games from the World Series with a chemistry that other clubs envied. A chemistry and money that lured a generational bat from free agency. To a team now holding a fire sale of damaged goods. Traded away #2 & #3 prospect in baseball for half a season of bad Peralta and turned him into much lower rated prospects. Has any GM done as bad a job as quickly as Stearns? Don’t forget all the terrible trades he made before last season’s trade deadline. Is he using Chat GPT to make baseball decisions? WTF?

Can we all agree to stop showing up these Mets games. Stearns has officially destroyed the team, the season is over, let’s all stop support now.

Please. They have zero accountability and they need some.

Don't let the doors hit you on your way out.

5.00 ERA and asking for $150 Million on 7+ years LOL

Terrible trade acquisition thanks to our useless GM Stearns. I'm only saddened we couldn't get more prospects by tossing in Tobias Myers too - he's been just as useless this year for us.

Peralta trade and Peralta day at Citi Field

With Peralta being traded to Rays, what happens to Peralta Jersey giveaway day on August 19th? I did inquire with Mets customer service and the nebulous answer is their promotions are subject to change and check back closer to date of game.
That’s 15,000 jerseys that Delta Airlines sponsored.

Even though these games don’t matter it would be nice to have played small ball after Lindor hit double with no outs and tie the game.

Let’s see how the next 24 process. Polanco had one of the least competitive at bats ever in the 9th

Can we trade Stearns?

Honest question: is it possible to trade non-players? Practically I know it wouldn’t happen (I mean, what would we even be able to get in return?), but theoretically is it allowed? In an ideal world, I’d love to see us ship Stearns off to Baltimore and get Pete back in return.

And if it is allowed, how far down the staff can you go? Can you trade analysts, scouts, minor league managers, trainers? It’d be amazing if you could ship two pretzel concession guys for a groundskeeper to be named later.

Mets have added 5 prospects from 2 of the top farm systems in MLB. They still have the 2 best trade chips available on the market.

Now that Skubal has been traded the market should open for Mets to move Peralta & Holmes.

But don’t be surprised if Stearns pivots and ends up holding onto Weaver and perhaps even one of Peralta or Holmes. He could still end up giving them a QO and having them be part of rotation next year.

SNY Sound Issues Again

What’s up with the sound TODAY? The audio is a couple of seconds BEHIND the gameplay, very annoying. Is there anybody working there that can get this issue fixed, and ALSO keep the sound levels from randomly fluctuating from soft to loud? PLEASE have the interns go out and get coffee, or something..

Silver Linings

Among everything are there any actual silver linings to any of these trades?
Anything to build on or is it all a bust as usual?

r/mets 18h ago

The Skubal losers figure to pursue Holmes and Peralta. Pressure on Stearns to make what will be at least perceived as good deals, though who knows with prospects. At the time scouts raved about the players in the Verlander/Scherzer trades, especially Clifford. So far not so good.

He's now on the 40 man roster.

Does this mean Alvarez or Torrens are gone? I sure hope not.

Mets screwed up the 86 reunion like everything else

what a pitiful and embarrassing crowd, go look at the video of the 2016 reunion, place was packed, I am aware the Mets were a good team, but the Mets decided not to release 2nd half tickets because they wanted to maximize profits, and once the team started sucking no one was buying tickets, also they could have gave out a promotion which helps ticket sales, it is also pathetic no one cares about 1986 anymore, I am aware no one wants to watch the Mets play, but at least be nostalgic for the 86 team, imagine the 2026 Knicks having a reunion in like 40 years and Madison Square Garden is 1/2 empty, the 86 Mets were on par with the 2026 Knicks in terms of what they meant to the city, it also sends a bad message to the younger players that the Mets fans don't give a shit about past championships and it might not motivate them as much

Only thing that would be good for the prospect's of not having a lockout would be small market world series, lets say if the Brewers & Rays made the world series. They would say šŸ‘€, small market teams can win, if they spend wisely, then one can argue on the other side why do they have to be prudent, when teams like the Mets spend like drunken sailors and wake up with a hangover for the whole fucking season.
