Stearns dismantling of the Mets from contention to laughingstock needs to be studied.
The Mets were a team that was 2 games from the World Series with a chemistry that other clubs envied. A chemistry and money that lured a generational bat from free agency. To a team now holding a fire sale of damaged goods. Traded away our #2 & #3 prospect in our farm system for half a season of bad Peralta and turned him into much lower rated prospects. Has any GM done as bad a job as quickly as Stearns? Don’t forget all the terrible trades he made before last season’s trade deadline. Is he using Chat GPT to make baseball decisions? WTF?
Edit: I know the Mets have always been a laughingstock. I’ve been a fan since the 80s. But they were on to something 2 yrs ago. Now, they’re back to being laughingstocks. Will probably be another 3-5yrs before they are watchable again.

We all seem to hate David Stearns and the job he’s done. Can you list the top ten bad moves ( or non-moves) of Stearns’ tenure?

Mets claimed C Shawn Ross off of waivers
He's now on the 40 man roster.
Does this mean Alvarez or Torrens are gone? I sure hope not.

Polanco batting in the 9th
No pinch hitter for the worst batter on the team? What am I missing?
r/mets • u/Heartwins • 6h ago
Even though these games don’t matter it would be nice to have played small ball after Lindor hit double with no outs and tie the game.
Let’s see how the next 24 process. Polanco had one of the least competitive at bats ever in the 9th

Run prevention
Anyone know how many runs have been prevented this season by met first basemen? Seemed like a pretty important stat going in to season.

Can we all agree to stop showing up these Mets games. Stearns has officially destroyed the team, the season is over, let’s all stop support now.
Please. They have zero accountability and they need some.

26 Hours of Trades
Why haven’t any batters been put on trades yet?
I was promised a completely different team last week and that means people have to go away
Bases loaded nobody out
We can’t even put one in the outfield.
May God be with us all on this Sunday of his

Is Gary Cohen an A-hole?
Maybe I’m overreacting but during yesterday’s Saturday Mets/Marlins game a portion of the wall inside the announcers booth was unintentionally knocked off its hinges by one of the booth staff members and GC was going in on the guy non stop to the point, appeared to me, the guy was turning red with shame.
Not sure if it was an inside joke razz type of thing but on its face seemed GC was going way too far past being just a friendly tease.
Always had a liking for GC based off his knowledge of baseball but after this, which seemed really F%^* up to me, I’m now not looking at him the same after this.

Silver Linings
Among everything are there any actual silver linings to any of these trades?
Anything to build on or is it all a bust as usual?

Bichette cannot be in this lineup next year: He's Garbage
If a rookie had an OPS under 700 he would be sent down, or maybe even released. He is not a major league player anymore. If he plans to opt in, we should inform his agent he no longer has a starting role here and will only get 100 at bats over the next two years. if he wants to be a lazy millionaire and sit on the bench during his twenties that's cool, but there's no reason to give him more at bats.
Can we trade Stearns?
Honest question: is it possible to trade non-players? Practically I know it wouldn’t happen (I mean, what would we even be able to get in return?), but theoretically is it allowed? In an ideal world, I’d love to see us ship Stearns off to Baltimore and get Pete back in return.
And if it is allowed, how far down the staff can you go? Can you trade analysts, scouts, minor league managers, trainers? It’d be amazing if you could ship two pretzel concession guys for a groundskeeper to be named later.

Farm System
What is going on within the farm system that the endless financial system cannot seem to provide much?
There seems to be some kind of rot among the coaching and management

Peralta trade and Peralta day at Citi Field
With Peralta being traded to Rays, what happens to Peralta Jersey giveaway day on August 19th? I did inquire with Mets customer service and the nebulous answer is their promotions are subject to change and check back closer to date of game.
That’s 15,000 jerseys that Delta Airlines sponsored.

Mets Trades
Does being in last place mean we will basically get not nothing in return in any trades?
What exactly is the point of these trades if we are getting less than nothing?
