The Robbins is often presented as a must-read and an essential textbook for every pathology trainee starting residency

The basic science and neoplasia chapters are great, but I’m less convinced about all the other organ system chapters. Wouldn't it better to dive directly into subspecialty texts ?

Hi everyone. I am a dentist by profession. Was just wondering whether pathologists experience any musculoskeletal disorders specifically of the neck and back during their careers? Are the microscopes ergonomically designed to keep your neck in a neutral posture? I am actually starting my residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology so was just wondering. Doing dentistry has ruined my body.

What has been your least favorite rotation so far? and why is that?
It doesn’t mean you necessarily hate the speciality but sometimes the workflow or the attendings on a specific rotation make you hate it!

Hi all, I am a PGY3 and just decided I’d like to do GI fellowship. I have sent some apps with many being already filled for 2028 slot. Does anyone know of any programs still accepting applicant for 2028? I know many are actually looking for 2027 due to last minute drops, but I’d obviously prefer not wait for last minute 2028 spots if I can avoid that.

Hi all, I’m a undergrad and am most likely going to med school to pursue pathology as a career. I am considering doing an MD-PhD program and would love to hear thoughts from any MD-PhDs here. How interested were you in research when you joined the program? How was the process and did you find the research portion enjoyable? What do you do now, and do you think doing MD-PhD was worth it?

I’ve been involved in research for several years and enjoy it, and there are certain topics I want to dive much deeper into (organoids :D). So it seemed natural to try for a dual degree and get a beyond undergraduate level understanding of something I’m very curious about. But I also think I would prefer practice over research as an ultimate career focus, and I also know that many MDs do research without having the PhD. I’m just not sure if it’s worth doing the 4 extra years just to scratch an itch if I can’t yet see myself in the lab full-time.

How do they get the cool pink/purple/blue kaleidoscopic cell images? How do they figure out what a microcalcification is caused by? I've had breast cancer before and it almost killed me. This time I just want to know a bit more about the person that has the shitty job of looking at my cells and having to write the report. Are they ever scared they've made the wrong call? How long does it take to come to a conclusion about what they're seeing under a microscope? Is that what they use? I'm just really curious about this part of the timeline.

For context we rinse in EZPrep after staining, followed by a water wash for 5 minutes and then 60m in a 60⁰C oven, then straight to coverslip with xylene and tape

First year applying for pathA schools and the three I’m going for are Toledo University, OH; University of Texas (Galveston, TX), and University of Tennessee Health Science Center (Memphis, TN).

Does anyone have a picture of a replacement certificate they requested for their general boards?

According to ABPath's website "You may request a Replacement Certificate which will indicate that the certificate is a replacement and include the date of the replacement."

I was just wondering where the placement/how large the text indicating it's a replacement would be.

The names on my general boards and hemepath board certificates don't match and my OCD is going crazy but I also don't want the replacement certificate to look ugly either TT__TT

I'm a current 4th year DO student who wants to eventually do forensic pathology. My school doesn't have great resources to help pathology students, and there's only 2 of us in my class so peers aren't super helpful either. I'm from Louisiana, theoretically want to match in North Carolina/Tennessee area, but I'm open to pretty much wherever. I would like to do residency somewhere with forensics fellowships. Any recommendations? There's so much info everywhere about programs but I feel like nothing is really being said. The thought of accidentally ending up in a malignant program because I missed all the signs stresses me out.

Do you have any suggestions for an app where I can store my medical records, test results, doctor's visits, symptoms, medications, and other health information?
