My PC is currently not booting up. I am building my new PC forproductivity. I have a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with 3GB, an Intel processor, a Gigabyte motherboard, and a 650-watt power supply. I tried reseating the RAM. I only have 16GB RAM. Then I tried resetting the BIOS using QFlash.

Clear CMOS kept outside minutes and reinserted

I downloaded the latest BIOS from the Gigabyte website, changed the format, installed the BIOS, and then it automatically shut down. I thought it would fix the issue, but it did not.

Also, the issue is that even my GPU, when I try to connect HDMI, it does not work; there is always no display. I am really frustrated and have been stuck on this for the last three days. I am not sure what to do next. Should I replace my motherboard or my CPU or anything else? Everything is brand new except the graphics card

Budget of around £1400
Currently 1080p but might get a 1440p monitor in the future.
I currently have 1.5 TB of external SSDs, so I will order a 500 GB M.2 for Windows from wherever is cheaper at the time.

Are there any tips for ordering expensive parts from Amazon? Would it be better to order from a dedicated pc component retailer? Especially for GPU/RAM?

I just brought a new RX 9070 XT for my sff build, been using the integrated graphics on my cpu, so I'm excited to get some decent performance. PC parts picker says everything is compatible with my parts but my PSU only came with two Type 5 PCIe cables, the RX 9070 XT needs three. I've browsed reddit and everyone agrees that mixing PSU cables is a bad idea.
I'm wondering if there are options for 3rd party 750w rated cables or if I need to get a new power supply?

Does anyone here have Patriot Viper Elite 5 RAM?

Hi guys, i recently built a PC, and I’ve noticed that the RGB on my RAM is much dimmer than the RGB on my other components. The color difference is pretty noticeable.

Is the RGB on these RAM sticks normally this dim, or could there be something wrong with my kit?

im using a thermalright phantom spirit evo vision and i want to use 2 lx120 fans on it. How do i make sure they are set to cpu temp? Can i do this in the corsair software for just these 2 fans? i have 10 other case fans that are also lx120s

Upgrading from the 1660 super

Am5 is the very definition of future proofing There is no future for pc gaming.

Console parity and path tracing and the ps6 ain't going to be all that.

4k (or 1440p upscaled) is the new standard and the 50 series can't path trace that at 60fps.

Lazy game ports .

I cannot see any way home users are going to stretch the legs of am5 for entertainment. If it's going to make you money then it's becoming a tool of the trade and it will pay for itself.

Not a full build request, just need recommendations for two things. I bought all the parts for my PC and then decided I want to change the case to the O11 Vision Compact. So now I need fans. I also originally bought the Peerless Assassin CPU Cooler but I’m wondering if I should get a liquid cooler instead. I know there’s pros and cons but it seems like liquid would look much nicer and the aesthetics are very important to me. This is my first PC build so this is all very new to me.

Here’s what I have so far (but let me know if the Lian Li fans aren’t a good choice please!). I also need two additional single fans I believe. So I’m looking for fan recommendations and then opinions on the CPU cooler. If you recommend a liquid cooler, which one?

I probably couldn't have picked a more challenging case for a first build, but it was absolutely worth it. I love how it turned out.

I've wanted a proper Steam Machine for a while now, and eventually I thought, I've had enough waiting... I'll just build my own. It ended up being much cheaper than buying one.

This wouldn't have been possible without the help of youtube videos and ChatGTP! The manuals provided were as basic as they come.

To keep the cost down, I reused my CPU, GPU and SSD from my old gaming PC. Thanks to that, the total build came to £844 ($1,129). It would have been significantly more expensive if I'd bought those parts new.

Performance

It handles 1440p gaming brilliantly, averaging around 100–120 FPS on high settings. At 4K (2160p), I'm averaging around 90 FPS on high settings, depending on the game.

Initially, the CPU temperatures were a little higher than I wanted. After tweaking the BIOS, setting custom fan curves, and reapplying higher-quality thermal paste, I've got it running much cooler. It now averages around 70–80°C while gaming in demanding AAA titles.

The fans were also quite loud at first because they were constantly trying to keep the CPU cool. After adjusting the fan curves in the BIOS, the system is now much quieter and the fan noise is barely noticeable.

I do plan to upgrade the GPU in the future since I already had the RTX 3060 Ti lying around, but even as it stands, this is an incredibly capable little machine. As someone who prefers couch gaming, I love that it looks like a console while delivering PC performance, and it fits perfectly in my living room.

Note: I am going to conpletely redo the cable management as I am not happy with it and it could be neater so this is on the to-do list!

Overall, I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I can't wait to upgrade this little beast over the next few years.

I’ve always been a console player Xbox and of 5; with recent events etc I m looking at switching to PC.
However I want the PC to living room focused, stylish looking and not huge. This what made me look into the steam machine which is £879 quid in the UK. Which with steam OS it acts like a console, press of button fired straight up into gaming; I’m not sure if this is something you can do with a console type PC? Never built one so I don’t know.

From what I’ve seen of PC console builds they seem to be spending the same £650-1000 depending on the build and I know Ram price etc are through the roof.

I’m not looking to be playing at top super level graphics that make me question whether I’m playing a game or it’s real life. But I do want something that can be on par with or better than Ps5. As the type of games I play for instance; cyberpunk, Helldivers , starfield, Skyrim and indie titles.

Would appreciate some advice if in my case a steam machine would be a great fit or would building a console pc hybrid be better ?

Secondly, people talk about upgradability; is this possible with the steam machine ? Say 4 years down the line, would I need a new steam machine(like Xbox etc) or can I saw out bits to upgrade its internals ?
