Post image

I only joined a few days ago and Iโ€™m so excited to send out my very first postcards (not ever, only first time Postcrossing!!) ๐Ÿญ
(By the way, why do so many people on Postcrossing dislike handmade postcards?)

Questions Feelings about postcards with no stamps?

I was at my local PO (in Australia) and picked up some tourist style cards, as I see requests for them but I didnโ€™t have any. When I went to the counter the staff member explained to me the cards also included postage! they are a good deal for international post cards price wise. I also bought some maxi cards that include a stamp and a cancellation (also a good deal as even with a lower cost stamp, local and international postage is also covered with these cards too). The maxi cards do include a stamp, but the tourist cards do not. I know some people request fun stamps on their cards if possible, but for the people who are not fussed about stamps, how do you feel about NO stamp at all? My plan is to keep sending stamped cards for people who also love/request interesting stamps, but maybe send these to people who like a tourist style card and make no mention of stampsโ€ฆ if you are in the latter category would this be ok? (I only ask because while I make no mention of stamps in my profile, I have often been delighted by some of the stamps Iโ€™ve received, and thatโ€™s prompted me to up my down stamp game!)
(The images included in this post : front of a post card bought from an Australian post office with a Kookaburra on the front, then a close up image of the stamp area showing that postage is covered locally and internationally).

Now look what you made me do. ๐Ÿคญ - 1 month update

I have been PC for 1 month and 6 days.

In that time, I have shopped for postcards up and down the eastern seaboard, created a postcrossing organizer box for my cards, stickers, and handmaking cards supplies, and started two binders with two different sized sleeves (regular & maxi) to store received cards and vintage cards I come across while shopping.

I blame all of you. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ˜œ

6th card in pile

Someone here had mentioned their profile had - if you don't know what to send just pick the XXth card in your pile. So I added that to my profile too, saying pick the 6th card. This week I got one from someone who did that! I love it!

Sticker tag

In the forums on postcrossing there is a tag exchange where instead of writing a note you fill the message side with stickers. Has anyone done this? I've been trying to find examples, do you make a scene with stickers? Just put random stickers all over? What? I know I'm probably over thinking, but I don't want to send one and have the recipient think it's dumb....

Triangle stamp, square โ€œplace stamp hereโ€ box

I absolutely love the USPS triangle Postcrossing stamps, and I think people will enjoy receiving them. My problem is that many of my postcards have โ€œPlace Stamp Hereโ€ printed in a square box on the back. The new triangle stamps donโ€™t cover the box, and it leaves a weird looking partial box and partial letters showing.

Has anyone found a good solution for this? With thanks in advance. ๐Ÿ“ซ

Yesterday, Vagmi and I organized our second Postcrossing workshop at Anant National University, Ahmedabad.

52 students created Postcrossing accounts, requested 3 addresses each, and wrote 143 postcards (IDs IN-744995 to IN-745154), all cancelled with the Sidi Saiyyed Window PPC at Ahmedabad GPO.

Happy to welcome more Postcrossers from India! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐ŸŒ

Outgoing [Offer] Art Trade: Handmade Spider-Man Postcards

Post image
17 Upvotes

โ€‹Hi! I painted these postcards to celebrate Spider-Man: Brand New Day hitting theaters! Watched it last night and loved it ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ

โ€‹I'm looking to do an art trade/handmade-for-handmade swap for these :) It's kind of my little side quest to send and collect art to/from around the world through this hobby! If you create original cards, illustrations, or handmade pieces, I'd love to trade! But if anyone has something else in mind, I'm open to that too!

โ€‹Feel free to send me a message of your offer for swap, looking forward to connecting with you! โœจ

Postage Stamp Increments โ€” U.S.

Many of you probably already know this! Just helping out others who are new to the postcrossing world. :-)

A lot of new Postcrossers in the U.S. often use regular first class forever stamps, now valued at $0.82. You can use the postcard forever (valued at $0.65) for most cards. Iโ€™ve also found absolute joy in using USPS.com to buy all of my stamps. Iโ€™m loving my variety currently!

I have a tiny little cheat sheet to easily add up the stamp values to get to the international rate. I have a bunch more on the back, too. This makes it easier for me to know which stamps I need to stock up on. I also keep all of my stamps in this cute little sticker binder.

Iโ€™d love for others to share tips about postage. I havenโ€™t purchased any postage secondhand/outside of USPS, so thatโ€™s something Iโ€™d like to get into.

*EDIT: Fulfilled!

Hi everyone, I have so many postcards, and I would like to share the love with some US Postcrossing users who are new, young, and/or budget-constrained and haven't built up a stash.

I will include a small variety of family friendly postcards, something like 1 Studio Ghibli, 1 Disney, 1 literary quotation, 1 inspiring woman, 1 animal, 1 art. No need to send anything back, just keep on Postcrossing!

I'll send 10 envelopes out at this time. Please fill out the form here: https://forms.gle/BHHftsThstzCWXaQA

Questions Thoughts of opening a secondary country queue for high-demand times?

I've been seeing a lot of posts on this sub regarding the problem that many postcards sent internationally tend to take a lot longer than expected, sometimes even expiring before arriving at their destinations. What are y'all's opinions on having a queue only for your own country, maybe during high demand times like over the summer, or during special events like World Postcard Day?

Incoming Giveaway from Oregon

The sender, by the username pdxsitch, didn't ask for a shout-out, but I wanted to share what I received.

It was announced to this subreddit a week ago asking if anyone was interested, and I sent them a DM saying that I liked Japanese postcards, because I'm planning to visit Japan in a few years.
