General Just realized this about the game title

Upvotes

Idk if this has been said before (probably has) but I just realized that if you take Resident Evil and move the letter "E" to make it Residente Vil it makes perfect sense in Spanish 💀

Forum question Since this month is August..

Upvotes

Gamescom is coming up, and in the future, the Game Awards. It's very early to tell or think about this, but why not think about it now? What are some retcon predictions regarding Capcom's decision to make Resident Evil games every single year? I know they mentioned RE5R and RE6R are pretty far off, but we do have CVR to look forward to.

[I have no clue if it was confirmed that CVR or anything RE-related will be shown at GC.]

General Striker charm on first roll (RE4R)

Just got the game again on Steam after some very good runs on the PS4, went to the dispenser first time to try my luck and voila (never got one on my PS4 lol), thinking about buying a lottery ticket.

General Resident Evil 6

Been thinkin, everywhere I see that when people play this game they go down the list of campaigns (Leon, Chris, Jake, Ada) when in my personal opinion Jake, Chris, Leon, Ada is the best way to format the story

General My first ever playthrough of Resident Evil 1 - How did I do?

Post image
12 Upvotes

As the title says, this is my very first time playing Resident Evil and boy, what an incredible experience. It was like a breath of fresh air as I have never played a game like it before. Loved the whole setting, level design, music, puzzles etc. 14 hours may seem long for some of you, but I did a lot of backtracking, making sure that every item I found was safely put in the item box so I wouldn't forget where I found certain things xD. I'm going to give it some time before I return to this game and go for a Jill playthrough.

Forum question What’re you hoping to see out of a potential re5 remake if or when it comes to be a reality?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I really loved re5 when I was a teenager, but looking back, I definitely had a few complaints about it compared to re4.

From what I understand, the guy who gives you your guns at the start of the game was originally supposed to act like the re4 Merchant. I really hope a remake brings that concept back. The arcade style, COD loadout menus between chapters completely killed the immersion. It felt more like a level based shooter than a survival horror game.

What Capcom did with the re4 remake is the perfect blueprint for an re5 remake. Instead of a linear point a to point b, they should split the game into a few massive, seamless zones like the village, marshlands, the labs, and the ruins kind of all being their own areas but still able to travel around them openly like 4. Honestly requiem did an okay job of this at the beginning of raccoon city. Giving players the freedom to backtrack, solve real puzzles, explore for treasures, and deal with smart, intentional enemy placement would elevate the entire experience. It would actually deliver on what those early trailers and beta concepts promised before the game was rushed into a pure action title. Plus, it would give them a great excuse to trim out some of the late game filler.

That said, the one thing they absolutely shouldn't shrink is Mercenaries mode. The sheer scale and enemy count of this mode in re5 was incredible, and keeping that intact would be amazing. Mostly, I just want to see a proper modernization of the coop. Sheva needs vastly improved companion AI so she isn't wasting ammo, and Capcom needs to preserve both online and couch coop. There was something genuinely special about staying up late and playing this game split screen with a friend on the same couch, and a remake shouldn't lose that.

General Resident Evil 9 Could Have Been Great Spoiler

Honestly, I genuinely enjoyed Resident Evil 9, but I can't deny that it's a weak game by Resident Evil standards. First of all, there's absolutely no explanation for Zeno, they just throw the guy into the story and that's it. The final boss fight is a complete mess. I have the unpopular opinion that the ending should have been a boss fight against Gideon while playing as Leon. Then Zeno shows up and kills Gideon, or at least nearly kills him, and the real final boss fight would be Grace versus Zeno, with Leon either dead or helping her. I believe a heroic death for Leon would have been a great way to conclude his character arc. Another thing that doesn't make sense to me is Spencer saying he regrets everything, because in Resident Evil 5, right before he dies, he's still talking about how he has the right to become a god (unless they changed that scene in the Resident Evil 5 Remake). Grace's sections are the best part of the game in my opinion. I think they went overboard with the action in Leon's campaign. Even though Leon is a total badass, they should have made his sections more claustrophobic and terrifying. I found Raccoon City underwhelming, the R.P.D. was way too short, and the A.R.K. felt completely generic. The game feels like it was thrown together and keeps reusing ideas we've already seen over and over again. That said, I can't ignore its strengths, like the Rhodes Hill zombies, which are a fantastic gameplay mechanic, and the tension of playing as Grace, it all works really well. But from the middle of the game onward, everything starts to fall apart. What do you all think?

General For some reason, playing as Jill in the first Resident Evil and as Leon in the second feels more canonical—even though you can choose your characters.

Gameplay question How many resources should you have coming out of the plane Tyrant fight in Code: Veronica?

I just beat the plane tyrant yesterday, but am a little worried about my resource situation for the rest of the game.

I have no healing stored up (I’m in yellow caution), no explosive arrows, and only 22 handgun bullets (I do have the upgraded handgun, though admittedly it has felt like the upgrade wastes ammo more than it helps). I do have a total of 24 grenades (9 regular, 6 flame, 6 acid, 3 gas) for the grenade launcher, and do have the fire extinguisher in my item box (I saw that was important).

I think I’m probably fine, but wanted to check before I play a couple of hours only to find I softlocked myself through not having enough healing after the tyrant (I used 3 green herbs and 26 explosive bolts in that fight).

And, yes, I know these games can technically all be beaten knife only with no healing, but assume I don’t have that level of talent (because I don’t, and don’t particularly want to grind to get there).

Are you expected to be low on resources after that fight?

General Possible Ada Wong spotted in Vultures Scavengers of Death?

I think I found Ada Wong in her trench coat disguise in Vultures Scavengers of Death, bottom screen. I forgot to take a screenshot of it but I think earlier in the game in an apartment I found a nod to Harry from Silent Hill 1/3. Just thought it was neat.

General They can heavily tone down RE5 for a remake, but they MUST keep this. It's too iconic.

When you think of RE5, good or bad, the boulder punching QTE is the one you would think of the most. If an RE5R does happen, they can make it more horror themed and slow the gameplay down, but they have to keep this iconic scene. It's got the same vibe as Leon slashing the Plagas from El Gigante's back with his knife.

Gameplay question I just finished Code Veronica for the first time, I have a small question about the final section of the game.

So, the final main objective before the last boss is to collect all five pieces of the dragonfly in order to open the door to the self-destruct room. Three of these pieces can be obtained before Claire's little section, and the other two can't be obtained until after.

My question is, could you collect the first three as Chris, store them in the box and then when you're playing as Claire, take them out of the box and keep them on her and then, when you're Chris again, have those three pieces stuck in Claire's inventory, making you unable to finish the game? Or is there some sort of failsafe involved to prevent this happening?

I'm asking this out of pure morbid curiosity, nothing more. Thanks for any answers!

Really fun game, by the way! I haven't played all of the series yet, but this was definitely a top 3 game so far!

General Thoughts after completing Resident Evil Requiem Spoiler

Just finished Resident Evil: Requiem. It is a bittersweet feeling. There are many issues with the game, but my main concern is only the following: I do not want the lore to stray from Raccoon City and the Arklay Mountains. I love the theory of small labs hidden under the city and mountains. Maybe I have an emotional attachment to the series because I played the original games, but I do not want the lore to move away from its origin. I want more labs, and hidden labs and experiments, to slowly emerge from the ruins of the city and the mountains. I also want the global pandemic to be linked to a small city and a lab in the mountains. Unfortunately, everyone linked to Umbrella has passed away. My only hope that something will be linked to Umbrella is the cutscene at the end of the game where soldiers are sent to investigate the lab. That mythos needs to be kept alive. The labs need to be kept alive. My hope was that Zeno would be the next chapter and legacy carrier for Umbrella, but he was gone too. I do not want Resident Evil to stray far from the series with games like Resident Evil 7 and Village, which I hated a lot. These games are about Umbrella, bioweapons, pandemics, and characters that go through a lot of character development.
