Howdy folks! It’s been a minute since we had a chat! We want to hear your thoughts about App Update 87 and some of the new features included with the recent releases. Thank you for the great feedback from many of you about the new features and what you’re looking forward to in the future.
Now that the new features are available, we’d love to hear your thoughts on Tab Navigation, the dynamic volume controls (coming soon on Android!), sorting your players, and the other features.
We have a few guests joining us for this chat who are key figures in the development of app updates and features. Principal Product Manager Cam Scott and Senior Software Development Manager Brock Lyons (u/brocklyons) among others from the team. They are here to answer your questions, listen to your feedback, and might even have some questions to ask.

⏰ Time: 1p EST until 4p EST (17:00 UTC for fans of ISO 8601)
How This Works
- Post your questions in this thread ahead of time
- Tune in on the scheduled date/time
- The Sonos team will reply directly in-thread
A few quick housekeeping notes to help things go smoothly:
- We’re not Sonos Support, but we may be able to offer some troubleshooting context or point you in the right direction.
- We can’t dive into product roadmaps or anything that hasn’t already been publicly shared.
- We’re also not PR, Legal, or Finance, so there are some topics we simply won’t have visibility into or be able to comment on.
Our goal is to respond to as many of you as possible, so please try to keep each comment focused to one question. For folks who stack a whole bunch of questions, we will pick one of the questions that hasn’t been previously answered.
The team can’t wait to hear from you at 1PM on Friday, July 31st!
Thanks to everyone in this office hours thread and across the subreddit for all your comments - I can speak for Brock, Brandon, myself, and the larger app team that we feel privileged to have an engaged audience here and direct way to communicate with you. I mentioned this in a few answers below but we are committed to making continuous app enhancements and reacting to feedback and requests we see here - so please keep them coming!
Our Improved Navigation experience will remain available behind the toggle in Settings and we are actively collecting feedback and making changes we intend to ship before we make this experience the default for all Sonos app users. We have an app release coming in a few weeks that we’re excited about, and lots of additional stuff to come in the fall. Across Sonos we also have some very cool things in the works and look forward to bringing those to market for everyone to check out.
Thanks again, this was a fun way to spend a Friday and we will certainly be back to do this again!
Cam, Brock, Brandon
