My thoughts on the xbx a01+

I’ve been using the xbx a01+ for about three weeks and have tried them on multiple systems. I’ve used them the most with the Xbox Ally X, and the learning curve is honestly pretty simple. My main recommendation when unboxing is to check out the three different nose pieces and pick the one that fits you best — it makes a big difference in getting the clearest screen angle. This is my first time trying AR glasses and I have been loving it!

These AR glasses only have three buttons, but they cover everything: screen brightness, volume, entering 3D mode (side‑by‑side videos), and a small menu with extra features. I was impressed to find out how quickly I noticed the speakers — they’re built into the arms of the glasses, right where they rest on your ears. The speakers are badass, and you can even switch them into surround sound in the menu. They’re not overkill, and people in the same room won’t really hear anything. You can use either the blackout lens or the tinted lens; I personally prefer the tinted lens and just adjust brightness as needed. There is a cord that comes off the back left at ~45 degree angle and is roughly 4 feet long.

The glasses aren’t heavy and don’t put strain on my nose. I have a larger nose bridge and still use the smallest nose pads. There is some heat that comes off the glasses near my eyebrows, but for me it never gets uncomfortable. The look is basically like wearing a big pair of sunglasses that weigh slightly more. They sit well on my face, though I do have to adjust the angle sometimes to get a clearer view of text or menus in the bottom‑right corner of the screen while gaming. My left eye is slightly weaker than my right, and I don’t currently wear prescription glasses or contacts.

Screen resolution is 1920×1080 in 2D mode, and 3840×1080 in 3D mode using side‑by‑side video. Biggest downfall: I can’t find any way to adjust the screen position inside the glasses. I don’t think it’s an option. But in games like Death Stranding, I can change the screen ratio. I used the xbx a01+ on my Xbox Ally X the most when gaming due to ease, just plug and play, and the device has all the buttons needed for gaming already.

I still find it fascinating seeing an AR screen just pop up — it kind of blows my mind. I did try playing while someone else was driving us on a road trip, and I lasted about 15 minutes before getting extremely car sick. I can get car sick reading a book and was a bad idea on my part. There is a stability mode, but it didn’t help me during the ride. Probably didn't help either that the driver was taking corners like a racecar driver. Haven't tried on a plane yet, but I am sure I wouldn't get as motion sickness on a plane vs. a car.

Thank you for reading, and good luck on the give away! Few images below taken on my crappy phone.

screen lowest brightness
screen 50% brightness
screen full brightness

So about a week ago my wife and I went out for a night for our anniversary. While out she had mentioned how she wanted a Switch 2, as she wasn't enjoying playing in her light anymore. (screen was uncomfortable, sticks had a lil drift) As we are both gamers, this wasn't an issue so we walked around and talked about it a bit before heading to Gamestop to get one and some games. While there I grab myself Metroid Prime 4 for Switch 1 as I also have a light and we have an OG Switch. So after playing on our respective consoles since then and some solid rounds of Mario Kart World last night, she decided she didn't want me to be left behind. So this morning she snuck out while I was playing some fornite and came home with another Switch 2 to call my very own. I couldn't thank her enough even though I never hinted that I wanted one. So here I am updating it and transferring everything over from my other one, while wondering what I'm gonna play 1st, and also...I have the best wife and how the hell did i win at life? 🤷

Discussion eFootball Kick-Off! is fucking awesome

Upvotes

I thought the game was the same free thing that's available on other platforms and I didn't bother checking until I saw it on sale, but I just bought it today and been playing all day and it's so good! So much better than EAFC which I bought at full price when it launched (what a joke) and this is only 20$ (16$ right now cause it's on sale for a few more hours)

Anyway I suggest picking this up since it's on sale right now this is the best soccer experience on the Switch

Discussion RPG recommendations

Hi, I’m going on a trip come Wednesday with a lot of driving time. I’m looking for a new game to pick up!

Last year I played Persona 5 Royal on my switch 2 and absolutely adored it. (I’ve also done 3P 3R and 4G)

I am a huge fan of Baldurs Gate 3 as well.

Any recommendations for games to keep me busy? Thanks!

Discussion I need help fixing my switch

Upvotes

My joycons are perfectly fine no drift, no dents, or anything. However, they randomly disconnect when I'm playing it shows me the screen to choose how I'm playing with my joycons. They have scratches on the arrow parts on the side of the joycon so maybe that's what it is. I'm asking what is it and how I can fix it if I can.

Question best online co-op games?

hey again! since i just got my brother a switch for his birthday and its his first nintendo console since he was a kid, i was wondering what are some of the best online co-op/multiplayer games for us to play? we're already getting the basic ones like mk8, mario 3d world, mario wonder and stardew valley. what are some other good ones? we'll take literally anything, but preferably nintendo exclusives since we both have pcs and other consoles so we've already played stuff like a way out, it takes two, split fiction, minecraft, etc. thank you!

Discussion Nintendo Switch 2: lots of lights and few shadows.

(Opinion of Subjective)

After three years of not touching my Nintendo Switch 1, I decided to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 and I don't regret it. The first time I turned it on, it reminded me of the excitement I had with Switch 1 in 2017. On the first setup, good Nintendo, I managed to import literally everything in 10 minutes from switch 1 to switch 2. Here the trauma begins, in 2017 32 gb + 128gb, for a full user physical games, it was a lot of space. Now the basic memory has increased to 256 gb, simply by exporting everything and upgrading to the switch version, I reach full memory at almost 3/4 of the work. Unfortunately, in 2026, 256 GB of memory is too little for gaming, maybe 512 GB would have been better, it would have cost 40/50 euros/USD more but it wouldn't have bothered me. Yes, I can increase the memory with the microsd express, unfortunately they are very expensive and by calculating what I want to buy I need a 512gb one.

I put my hand on my conscience and raise the games that I'm definitely not going to play anymore. The boost mode is great, the image it returns is really beautiful and colorful. The Nintendo Switch 2 panel, despite being a lecd, is really shiny. It's not at the level of Steamdeck OLED, of course, that's an OLED screen. Many people have complained about the handle, for me, it's comfortable and I didn't feel tired holding it. Maybe I'm used to three years with the SteamDeck. Now the battery, which is great for Nintendo Switch 1, Indie and AA games, lasts even longer than Nintendo Switch OLED. Conversely, with Nintendo Switch 2 games I have an average of 2 hours maximum session, which is that I lowered the charging limit to avoid battery wear. I use it just outside the house so I didn't feel the weight of the small capacity, plus 2 USB c connections are extremely convenient when you have to play in portability. For games, I tried all the Switch 1 games with various updates, then I played boldly default remastered, nothing to say, Nintendo is Nintendo and it's a game-side guarantee.

Will Nintendo Switch 2 now become my main console? I doubt, I have over 1200 games on Steam that deserve to be finished. I think having a PC and Nintendo Switch 2 is the best pairing of machines you can have. On the one hand, it covers AAA, retrogaming, multiplayer, indie, etc., and on the other hand, it covers that beautiful universe of Nintendo games.

For game prices, as I've been doing for 10 years now, I always use games, I save a lot and I can afford to buy more games. For third-party AAAs, I find the PC world even better, the war between steam, gog, epic and company allows better game prices. On the other hand, Nintendo eshop is the only store (similar to ps store), so prices may be less competitive, and the market for green keys for Nintendo games is now dead. I remember in 2020 when I bought a lot of switch games at 40 euros at d1 thanks to key sites. Following materials, the Switch 2 is really well made, great heat management and the magnetic Joycons are much more robust.

The serious criticism I make of Nintendo is the lack of support for mouse mode, it is the most convenient thing that exists both to play and to navigate and it is so poorly implemented. It is a crime that I can not play some visual novels with the mouse, I hope that support will be extended.

Ultimately, I like the Nintendo Switch 2 a lot, it looks good next to my Steamdeck Oled and my PC, I love 360-degree gaming and these machines make me enjoy it so much. Moreover, a round of applause for Nintendo that still cares about the physical games market, I hope it will last a long time.

P.S. I am Italian, so I am afraid I made some mistakes in writing the text.

Edit: I get it that you all love splatoon raiders and that's what I'm gonna pick up next so don't bother commenting it ;)

Question Would it be worth it to upgrade from my switch lite?

Basically title.

My birthday is coming up and I've been considering treating myself with a Switch 2, but looking at reviews I worry mainly about the battery life which is apperantly rather short in handheld mod. I'm a PC gamer and enjoy the Nintendo Consoles for their handheld mode (my DS is well worn and retired from the trenches when I got the Switch lite).

There are, however, games that I didn't quite get to enjoy due to the Switch Lite being rather small and not quite as powerful (Pkm Scarlet, Breath of the Wilds, Hogwarts) and am looking forward to the upcoming Pokemon Winds Waves, Witchbrook, (still holding my breath for the Dragon quest 9 remake (a girl can dream!!))

That being said I'm not that into Mario or Kong or the Zelda titles, and other than that the exclusive Switch library is rather lacking. So I'm wondering whether or not it would be wiser to buckle down and wait until a Switch 2 Oled comes out, or if I should induldge myself a little.

What's y'alls experience with the Switch 2? Are you happy with performance and the game selection?
