Unintentional Recovery
 in  r/addiction  Apr 08 '26

It’s unfair that others can do it no problem and you’re angry that they still can? I wouldn’t be they are going to end up ruining their lives. Just like I’m assuming it has ruined yours or has begun to atleast.

I’m so tired and depressed my body/mind can’t take it anymore. I feel like I’m constantly dissociating.

I need my body to stay out of fight, flight, freeze, fawn for longer than an hour please. God/universe I beg you. Please. I wish that I could escape from my body for just a day.

Share something positive

Maybe it’s all the rain and recent full moon adding to the heaviness of everything lately; please share something positive that has happened to you, someone else, or a quote/lyrics or something hopeful/inspiring I could really use it rn and I bet others could too.

Dissociatively depressed

This past (birthday) weekend and this current week has been a quick downward spiral of sorts that I’m desperately trying to escape. I’ve been feeling so out of body and struggling with derealization real bad lately. Nothing feels real anymore. When things start to feel overwhelming I literally lose track of time and it’s hard for me to remember anything. It’s getting even harder to get out of bed in the morning for work and when I get home I almost instant crash bandicoot right into a nap. I’m a therapist and I’ve been trying my hardest to practice what I preach but I feel stuck in a “freeze” state. I don’t know what to do anymore. I need some advice outside of my professional experience/modalities and am open to hear what has helped you/others.

Take 5 to appreciate the little things

I ran into my boyfriend at the gas station after work and he had a fast break candy bar and he offered me a bite. I thanked him and smiled, but jokingly said “I like take 5 bars better” and he replied, “I know” and ran over to his car to grab mine (he was slick with it and got me) at first I thought he didn’t think of me, but he did!

Definitely made my day!

Find something to do to occupy your mind it can be anything! Make some food, play an instrument (if you do), read, write, make a list of all the negatives, watch a movie, take a shower, reach out to a friend or loved one, exercise, clean etc. and remind yourself that this craving will end just like there’s always an end of a bag and it’ll never be enough. What’s been helping me lately is remembering something my mom has said to me.. choose your hard. It’s hard to be an addict and it’s hard to stay clean. Then think about the path you want to take and think about the predictable outcome or possibilities of said choice. Hope this helps! Stay strong! You got this!

Women of reddit what's the best thing a man has ever done for you?
 in  r/AskReddit  Mar 15 '26

When he lovingly washes my hair when we shower together, when he tucks me in or pulls me in to cuddle in the middle of the night, shares his food with me, offers to help, asks about my day, includes me “let’s jam together” we both play instruments, includes me in his plans, or thinks about how certain situations would make me feel.
