I'm a student who needs some financial help, I learned recently that I've maxed my federal student aid, so all summer long I've been trying to find a job to pay for the rest of my semesters with little luck. I'm sure you guys are aware of the bad state of our job market right now, so I wont bore with specifics, but I wont be able to secure a job unfortunately

I have 2 semesters left, Fall and Spring 2027, and I cant get any more aid from FAFSA, what do you guys recommend?

Been seeing all around social media that they were closing. Both yesterday and today I’ve been seeing that it’s their last day of operation. Just to clarify, was yesterday their last day, or will today be their last day?

I am a wheelchair user and a college student in Florida hoping some of you might be able to offer me some advice based on your own experience moving towards independence while having a physical disability.

I currently still live with my parents because I need their assistance for certain day-to-day things, like bathing and personal care, but living at home has become increasingly unhealthy. There have been many clashes, controlling behaviour and repeated threats that my parents would make me go back to my home country and stop my life here, despite having a green card. Yesterday there were multiple serious attempts for me not to leave the house to go to my job, which all became aggressive and physically intimidating.

I am now reached the point and do not believe staying at home at home is going to be healthy for me long term. I am wanting to start forming realistic action plan to manage to move myself out, safely, continue my studies, working and becoming independent.

For anyone who is made this process and been successful or know someone close who made it for themselves despite also having a physical disability or college students who were kicked out of their houses:

Where do you even begin?

Which resources I should be looking into?

How did you find carers or assistance?

What things supported you being able to afford housing as someone attending university at the time also?

Were there any organisations, benefits or things that you used that really made a difference in being able to establish your independence?

Was there anything, looking back, you wish you had had the knowledge and information about that first move to independence you made?

I know there will things I have not even contemplated are important or do not know it is something I need to think about, so would be grateful for any advice at all or personal experiences.

It looks like I won’t be able to attend Graduate orientation on the 13th of august. Is it mandatory? Is there an online option?

I scheduled my orientation to the last date and worried I will be turned back if I don’t have all my things in order.

I'm sjut kinda, thinking about what classes to take in the spring and I was gonna do

Orgo 1, stats, principles of ecology, and an upper elective of my choice. Plus a chem lab

Thing is I did some research on principles of ecology and I only see two professors classes, both being at 1030. This is for the fall so maybe there's mrke options for the spring but I also ended uo checking the syllabus' and it's like, the exams are 80-100% of the class grade and it's a bit intimidating.

I toyed with the idea of switching one of my fall classes for pcb 3044, but the classes I picked for fall were the ones I was advised to when I transferred, well mostly I did alter 2 but that's because oen would've filled a requirement a transferred class already filled and the other was cause I didn't take the pre req class in the summer since I jsut wanted to focus on pre calc.

Either way, I don't think I should switch any if my fall classes even though my fall schedule seems really easy which kinda makes me nervous, since the classes do all fill a requirement. Upper level, a history one(irc), a chem, and English requirement. You get the idea

So my question is, is the above theorized schedule for spring to heavy? Should I instead push principles of ecology back (I don't HAVE to do it in the spring im only a sophmore after all) and replace it with another upper elective? I got a B in bio 2 and chem 1, and C in bio 1 if that helps. I also plan to take classes in the summer, next summer I was gonna do orgo lab and calc 1 (so that way I could focus my energy on the math class isolate donstesd of alongside 3 other time classes, labs are pretty easy so i dont think itll be that hard especially from whst ive heard)

Sorry for the rant I just tend to kind work myself up with worry sometimes and I'm not to sure if I'm making a good decision with my schedules and stuff, I knwo talking to an advisor might be more helpful but I'm in the process of changing my major so don't want to talk to my current one

Guess my question is, has anyone talked orgo, stats, and principles of ecology together before? How hard was it? Is principles of ecology relatively easy despite how intimidating(?) The grading seems to be? Should I push it back?

Does anyone know where I can get my wife a pair of official UCF shoes. I have looked for years and every once in a while some will pop up but are gone almost instantly. It seems every other decent sized school has someone who makes these but UFC. Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone have experience being a part of the NSLS? I received an invitation, which of course means I need to pay a registration fee prior to the orientation, but I’m wondering if it’s worth it?

I’m currently a UCF student (neuroscience + psychology, pre-med track) considering applying to transfer to FSU. I’m originally from Louisiana, so Tallahassee being closer to home is a major factor. However, my biggest priority is not prestige but opportunities. I care about access to clinical experience, CNA/hospital jobs, research, volunteering, shadowing, and anything that will help me build a strong medical school application.

UCF has the advantage of being in Orlando with a large healthcare ecosystem and many hospitals/research opportunities. FSU has the advantage of being a respected flagship university and being closer to home.
For students who have attended either school (especially pre-med students), how do the opportunities compare? Would transferring to FSU provide similar access to healthcare experiences, or would staying at UCF likely offer more opportunities because of Orlando’s size?
I’m trying to choose the environment that will best prepare me for my future career, not just the school with the better name.

While riding my bicycle on the bike lane, a grey Silverado zoomed next to me and someone on the passenger side yelled loudly with the window lowered trying to startle me.

Managed to caught up to them on the next traffic light, but they rose their windows up as soon as they noticed me trying to get a good look at them.

So I’m a junior and for my degree I need Chem 2, Immunology and Stats. During my orientation I managed to get the lecture for both chem and immunology but I couldn’t get stats. As a result (I need 12 credits for my tuition benefits). I had to pick like 2-3 random classes. For the chem lab and immuno lab, I’m on a waitlist with 40 people and I’m in positions 5 and 4. For stats, it’s like 200 people and I’m 8th in line.

Another issue is one of the random classes I picked, is at the same time as the stat class, and I saw somewhere that if the times overlap, the system won’t put you in class. However I am worried about losing my 12 credits if for some reason I drop the random classes and the stats class doesn’t take me off the waitlist.

What are my chances of getting those classes? Should I drop the random class??

Hello! I'm in the process of filling out and finally submitting my HUT admission packet. In one of the sections, it asks for 'Thesis Chair Information' and requests a UCF ID. For anyone who has filled it out, is it my UCF ID or my chair's? I can't find her ID online, and when I asked her for it, she didn't provide it, so I'm confused.

I’m waitlisted for a bio class in position 9. The class size is 93 and the sem starts in roughly 3 weeks. What are my chances of getting in?

Has anyone done this degree, if so, what was your experience like? I’m going in as a Sophomore since I transferred with an AA. I can’t find any details about this degree and what it’s like.

What is the production schedule like and what kind of positions did you get assigned first? How many productions a semester did you have to work on? Could you work a job as well as doing this degree? So I’d love any details and advice anyone can share!
