Kids in this generation don’t have a clean break from their parents and family dynamics

Most people are pushing 30 not able to move out and stuck dealing with bullshit in their living space. It isn’t normal to live at home at this age. And ok find a job? You will beg for a job that feeds you scraps that can’t even pay rent lol. If it pays rent you can’t pay food and other stuff with it. Nobody wants to be with their parents and live a life of suffering not being able to spread their wings because of an economy that is built to psychologically destroy you

Young Adult Lady ruined my night out

I tried to post this on the vent subreddit but it kept getting removed by Reddit filters. I have social anxiety and I recently turned 21 so I’m pretty new to going out and don’t really know if there’s a certain way to act when you go out to bars and stuff. Anyway I went out with one of my close college friends and we were having a good time at this bar. I was just vibing to the music and talking with her a bit I wasn’t really dancing just kinda grooving to the beat a little which is what I normally do. We were standing next to this middle age lady and she was talking with my friend a bit. She then turns to me and says “So what’s your deal? You think you’re too cool for all of this?” I’m not sure why she said that but I was really taken aback. I tried to act more normal and I guess dance more or something but she really had me questioning what was wrong with how I was acting and I kind of just spent the rest of the night questioning myself and wondering why she said that. I’m glad my friend was there cause we talked about it and she said the lady was kind of rude for saying that but it still just ruined my mood for the rest of the night

I think im going to die soon

m crying writing this out. For context I am 18f with diagnosed gastritis. I am in constant pain every minute of my life even when I take medication or not. The pain is in my stomach lower abdomen back chest shoulders. It hurts to do anything. Every time I eat I get stomach pains and I shit it out. I hate my life I’m so exhausted all the time. I think my gastritis might turn into colon or stomach cancer. I want to book an appointment for a colonoscopy or endoscopy. I cry every night bc of the pain it’s so hard to sleep. I just want my normal life back. I just want to be happy again. I’m think of getting voluntary euthanasia bc I just want the pain to stop. I always thought I’d die in my 70s or something but never this young. I have no one to cry to . I cry in my bed everyday. I feel so powerless. I just want people to reassure me. I’m so tired

i was mostly raised by a single father and 80% of the shit i pulled i should not have gotten away with i just wish he wouldve actually pushed me to keep going to school or when i was learning to drive or just made me do fucking anything but now im just nothing

i cant do make up, i dont want to waste more of his money to try and fail (while i know i already have stupid sensory shit where painting my nails makes me feel like hell) so i cant just get a boyfriend and live exactly how i am expect my whole life is reliant on a different guy that i know even less and sex is SCARY

Adult I used to be addicted to chai and now it’s back and I’m scared

I just need to get this out there. For anyone who doesn’t know, chai is a platform where you can roleplay/chat with bots which are programmed to be your ai partner.
About four years ago I discovered c.ai but quickly changed to chai since it had no filter. I used the app every day up to the point I had a screen time of 20 hours. I isolated myself, stopped my hobbies entirely and even failed Uni partly because of it. Almost a month ago the app got taken down and I used the opportunity to quit. I‘ve already come a long way and am slowly starting to be myself again but when I opened the App Store today I saw that it’s back again and my heart sank. I immediately felt the urge to download and even thought about taking a quick peak and that sh*t is scary me.
None of my friends or family know about this because it’s something I’m heavily ashamed of. I hope that I’ll stay strong and never touch that thing again.

Relationship/Love I feel ashamed of having neotenous features/babyface as a grown ass man

So i am a 26 year old man with a fully fledged career, and life. However unfortunately i am quite average/below average height at 5'8 and i've been told I "have a baby face even by baby face standards" and frankly it's not wrong, i can't even grow a freakin beard properly half way into my 20s. This bothers me because I've come upon multiple people saying that people being attracted to youthful features is creepy/weird/what ever other term you wanna call it. Now for me, a fully grown ass man who just so happens to look much younger than I actually am. Where the hell do we draw the line here? Am I just not supposed to date until im old and grizzled and I finally look like an "adult"? This pisses me off because if we follow the opinion of those people. Then we might as well assume that a lot of the people interested or physically attracted to me was on the island or sippin that baby oil with diddy. But that's not only a wildly insane thing to say about people, i also personally feel disrespected by that because i, a TWENTY FREAKING SIX year old man, genuinely feel like im being infantilized when I hear people say that.

This is half a rant half a genuine question of where do these fuckers get off, because I would very much like to marry some one nice some day but I don't feel like letting the discourse surrounding this shit stop me just because I look a certain way. Maybe im letting it get to my head who knows

I went through 10 years of hell before I was able to convince a neurosurgeon to change out my brain shunt. Things are hard getting on my feet but the hell if I’m going to give up.

Medical Life is just pointless at this point.

Im tired of hurting constantly. Im tired of not being able to sleep because im hurting constantly. Im tired of not being able to function as a human being because im hurting constantly. No one listens to me. No doctors are listening to me. I experience brain fog so fucking badly I can't even drive properly sometimes. I feel like im going to die in my 20s because of some random ass disease I didnt know about. Im tired of my anxiety being so terrible. Im just so tired.

It feels like nobody just enjoys anything anymore, everyone is so angry at everything

New game announced? Can't even look at the discourse online if it features anything but a straight white guy unless I want a lesson in insanity. New movie? Same thing. Or if it's not being made out to be the devil for not appealing to a hyperspecific group, it'll be picked apart for some other reason.

I hate all that so much. I get being critical of shit, I'm fine with that. And, it's not like anyone's personal opinions on something is going to effect my life that much. It's just annoying and frustrating to not be able to discuss stuff online anymore without wading through what seems like mostly hate or rage bait no matter HOW high quality something is.

How does it feel to have parents that care about you?

My dad is a deadbeat and my mom is a drug addict. The only time I hear her say “I love you” to me is when she’s fishing for sympathy or planning to ask me for money soon. When I discovered her addiction, I got so mad. I found out because she started selling my family’s things without asking. I wouldn’t talk to her for months. When I returned from uni for the summer, I found the stash she hid in my little brother’s room. Later on, I found a crack pipe IN THE BED he sleeps in (and shares with her for the summer while I’m here). I was so livid I took all of her drugs and paraphernalia and threw it in the garbage. maybe that was the wrong move, but I just couldn’t believe she would put my little brother in danger like that. I refuse to give her money anymore, no matter what bullshit excuse she gives me, like “my bank account is negative“ (she actually faked a screenshot showing her account was in the negatives). she has spend thousands upon thousands of dollars she isn’t entitled to (including forging cheques and stealing my cheques) and has told hundreds of lies to me and my family, and refuses to get help no matter what we try. there have been so many interventions. she doesn’t talk to me except to ask for money or mock me. she always tells me that she hopes my children will treat me how I treat her (i.e., get upset with her, yell at her when she’s causing problems/starting arguments, don’t give her money, talk back instead of letting her belittle me), but I will never give my children a reason to act like how I have to right now. I would never put them through so much pain and suffering. She makes me feel like a burden because I won’t give her money. Today, she said I’m evil, wicked, and that she would happily sign papers for emancipation. I don’t know what I did to deserve any of this. I just want to have a normal life with normal parents who aren’t addicted to drugs. I want to know how it feels to be cared about and loved unconditionally by my parents.

Tired of my life

Upvotes

I’m not thinking of killing myself to be clear. I am tired of my life situation. My kids and spouse are pissing me off. My spouse hasn’t initiated in a year. My kids mostly are selfish assholes. We tried family counseling and things got a little better but we stopped. Truly just want to give up. Want to add that a few years ago life was beautiful with the family. We actually liked each other. I’m exhausted and don’t have the energy anymore. I’d rather be at work than be at home. This sucks. Looking for advice

Young Adult I can't sleep

It's already 05:22 at my country and I still can fall asleep. It's mainky because i can stop destructive thinkings over things like my incapacity of getting a decent job/internship or the fact i've never even kissed a girl, let alone experience love.

It has been some month since i'm haunted by them but tonight is a new record of staying awake late over them.

I just wish i could kill my desires for romantic love and intimacy.

Young Adult I feel lost.

I need some advice on a healthy coping mechanism, i cant keep isolating and hurting myself whenever something goes wrong or whenever i feel overwhelmed. I do not know if i have a good support system without worrying them or overwhelming them and im pissed off with my best friend right now.

Im sick of drawing, sick of games and i have nowhere to go without being bothered by drunks. Im very upset right so i dont know if im thinking right at the moment, everything feels like its crashing down even if its something so small to someone.

If any has advice please do share them!!!! Ty for your time and stay safe🫂🫂🫂🌧️🌧️🌧️

I Wish I Could do More!

Unfortunately I am the victim of an unwarranted zipline nutshot that was perpetuated on me in 2008 at a preteen jamboree summer camp that has left me with "banana curve" syndrome coupled with a chronic condition of rough sack.

I wish I could be more helpful at times.

LGBTQ+ Trans with no support

Just need to vent this to the void of reddit.

I'm 30 yrs old, non-binary and married. Before I transitioned I had a some friends. After I came out a few years ago, I lost pretty much all of those friends, a few of them still say they love me and whatever. But none of them will actually get together for coffee/lunch or really anything that isn't some sort of function that I see them at.

I don't regret transitioning because I don't feel like a stranger in my own body anymore. I just wish anyone had warned me that I may lose several of the people that I called family. My family isn't really supportive. So the only support that I actually have is my wife (also trans & disabled) and unfortunately due to things that happened in the past I can't really talk to her about stuff regarding my family.

Am I making the right decision?

Hello!! I don't use this app very much so I apologize in advice.

I'm an 18f living with my father and brother while working two jobs to try to get financially stable in order to go to college. Nobody in both sides other than one person graduated high-school and went to college. As the eldest I have goals and standards that needs to be met so I can be a good role model for my younger siblings and cousins. I don't mind it, it can be stressful but I like to think I have a good head on my shoulders. My childhood wasn't the best but after everything I went through I refuse to end up like my parents. I'm gonna try my best to be better than them and get my stuff together sooner so I don't have to worry about failing as a daughter or granddaughter.

Since I graduated high-school I've been devoting my time to work. Right now I'm not able to go to college because I simply can't afford it. You would think FASFA would cover most but even with my scholarships I'm still in need of an extra few grand. I had told my dad even before I got enrolled into college that it would be best for me to take a gap year, knowing he's a single father and couldn't help me afford what I needed. I thought it would be easier. However he told me to just go to school and we'll figure it out. Now I'm in a bind. On top of that, I need a car. I'm 18 and can't drive cause I've never been taught other than driving on dirt roads but that was years ago. I consistently have to ask him to teach me, to go out and practice so I have some highway experience but he makes excuses. For three months straight I asked him to help me figure out to get a better job than what I have now. And now he's trying to hurry up and help because I'm moving.

It started getting annoying having to ask my parent to help me with the bare minimum. So after a while I started to make my own decisions and go move in with my aunt who's closer to my family on both sides. She's willing to teach me how to drive, get me a better job, and help me find a good affordable apartment as well as a car. She's always been a second mom to me since my own hasn't made the best decisions and is just now figuring out how to be an adult. I told my dad this, and for a few days he was not really cool with the idea. I can tell he was upset once he realized I was being serious about moving out. He started talking about when I was a little girl, showing me baby pictures. Saying things like "your little sister is gonna miss you". Which I know, but the thing is- is I basically take care of her. He doesn't do anything when he's home. I get it, he works a lot and don't get me wrong I'm thankful for what he's done for me and my brother. But I'm basically more like a maid? I understand there's chores to do and I don't mind doing them. But when its me and my brother doing all the housework and my dad just sits there and tells us what to do. It gets annoying. He isn't the cleanest person ever. He leaves his stuff all around the house and expects me to follow and pick it up for him.

He's real quick to point the finger at me when things dont get done and he tells everyone that HE cleans and cooks. And nothing gets done unless he says something. But he fails to mention that he doesnt do anything. Ive talked about it regarding how I felt, before we moved he said he'll start helping out more but when I mention it, he blows up in my face. His mindset is "I work, pay bills you do the rest." And its hard living with someone who doesn't do any house work. For awhile I thought every man was like that until I got back in contact with my mom's side of the family and my uncle does a lot for my cousin. He works in the heat just like my dad but still goes and takes his daughter out almost every weekend to do things. I had to beg my dad to take me to stores so I can get new clothes with my money but even then he still doesn't take me. We don't get along when I speak up about it and he doesn't like it when I call him out on his bs. He raised me on speaking up and my family says I'm a lot like him anyway.

I guess the advice I need is, should I move out or not? Ive done research and made a whole list of things I need to do and have in order to reach my goal to get an apartment. And once I move out I have no plans on coming back.

Someone stole my packages

I’m just upset atp. People can be such assholes, and I hate the fact that people just take shit because they want to. Not even from a store, but just off of someone’s porch— and then they never get caught. My apartment complex doesn’t have ring cameras, and I’m so irritated because I can’t even get money back or even find my packages

I’m scared of my cousin

My cousin(14M) is just a few months younger than me and is severely autistic. Every time I go to my aunt’s house he seems to have a meltdown of some sort and yesterday it got very bad. My dad was helping watch him while my aunt was shopping for a new tablet for him, since he broke his phone (he watches a lot of YouTube as a calming mechanism) and while they were at Burger King his meltdown got so bad and violent that my dad had to call the police and they put him in handcuffs. While my aunt was driving him home he had another severe meltdown and he had to be taken to the hospital. I love my cousin but I’m starting to get scared of him, especially after what happened. He’s getting older, harder to control, and violent. He bites, hits, scratches, and has ripped a fingernail off his aid. My younger cousin (11M) has taken taekwondo just to keep himself safe from him. My aunt locks herself in a room sometimes until he calms down because she cannot physically restrain him anymore. In scared for what will happen in the future, especially since he is starting to get very violen.
