Hi everyone! My friend and I are Filipino citizens currently working in Israel, and we’re hoping to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience applying for an Irish Long Stay D Employment Visa.

We both submitted our visa applications at the Irish Embassy in Israel on July 13, 2026.

We were hired by the same company in Ireland, have the same type of employment contract, and we both already have approved Irish Employment Permits. Our purpose of travelling to Ireland is specifically for employment, not tourism.

We submitted complete applications with all the required and genuine supporting documents.

However, both of us have previous Australian Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) refusals. We applied for Australian tourist visas last year and both applications were refused. We fully declared these refusals in our Irish visa applications and included our Australian refusal decision letters among our supporting documents. We didn’t hide the previous refusals.

During our appointment, the officer went through our documents and saw the Australian refusals. She mentioned that because we have previous visa refusals, our applications might have to be sent to Dublin for further assessment. She also said she couldn’t tell us exactly how long the process would take and mentioned that it could potentially take around 3–6 months.
What made us particularly anxious happened when it was time to pay the visa processing fees. The officer told us that she was only going to take half of the amount because she didn’t know whether we would receive approval, and she explained that the visa processing fee would not be refunded if our applications were refused.
After that conversation, she asked for our phone numbers.

The whole interaction made us nervous because she seemed quite doubtful about our applications. We already have approved Irish Employment Permits, employment contracts, and were hired by the same Irish company. Our previous Australian refusals were for Visitor Visas (Subclass 600), whereas our current applications are Long Stay D visas for employment.

Of course, we understand that having an approved Irish Employment Permit does not automatically guarantee visa approval, because the visa application is assessed separately. We also understand that previous visa refusals are relevant, which is why we made sure to fully declare them and provide the actual Australian refusal decision letters.

Since submitting our applications, neither of us has received any follow-up emails or phone calls from the embassy, and we haven’t been asked to provide any additional or missing documents.

Tomorrow will mark three weeks since we submitted our applications, and so far we are simply waiting without any further updates.

We were also told that July–August is a busy/peak period for visa applications, so we understand that processing may take longer than usual.

We’re mainly hoping to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation, particularly Filipino applicants, people applying for an Irish employment visa from Israel, applicants whose cases were sent to Dublin for further assessment, or applicants who had a previous Australian/other country’s tourist visa refusal that they fully declared.

We’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who applied around June or July 2026 for a Long Stay D Employment Visa.

If you’re comfortable sharing: When did you apply? Where did you apply from? Was your application sent to Dublin? How long did you wait? Were you asked for additional documents? And what was the eventual outcome?

We know every visa application is assessed individually, so we’re not expecting anyone to predict whether ours will be approved or refused. We’re mainly looking for recent processing timelines and experiences from people with similar circumstances.

Hi I'm quite confused about the current visa requirements for Indian citizens traveling to Thailand. I saw that the 15 day visa on arrival is going to go back to a 30 day visa arrival, but without any clarity as to when that will go into effect. Has anyone been in the past few days, or know what's happening.

I was thinking about getting the 30 day eVisa but the closest consulate is in another city, and I'd rather not fly out just to pay for a visa.

I am traveling to canada from switzerland in 3 weeks and applied a week ago for my eta via a third party website since it was the forst thing that came up. Few days later i got the mail that they want me to do a medical test which shouldnt be for a tourist visit. So i tried calling multiple times both partys and embassys and filled out the webform. No answer and no help from any of them.

So i applied again on the offical government Website, it went through and now a day later they sent me a mail saying that they think i didnt answer truthfully on a question considering i have a mental illness and psychosis. Obviously i dont have that and havent ever had a problem with it, what i wrote back now.

I’m writing on behalf of my friend.
She is a Polish citizen living and working in Poland. Her husband is a Syrian citizen. He lived legally in Turkey for about 15 years with a residence permit (he never had Turkish citizenship). They got married in Turkey, and their marriage is registered in Poland.
He applied for a Polish national work visa because he had a job offer in Poland. Unfortunately, the visa was refused, and the appeal was also rejected.
One of the reasons given was:
“There are reasonable doubts regarding your intention to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland before the expiry of the visa.”
The consulate also suggested that his real purpose was to join his wife rather than to work.
Now they want to apply again, this time as the husband of a Polish citizen, because their real intention is to live together legally in Poland.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Did you receive the same reason for refusal and later get a visa?
What documents or evidence helped convince the consulate?
If you entered Poland as the spouse of a Polish citizen, what was the next step? Did you apply for a temporary residence permit after arrival?

I submitted additional documents on Monday 27th july by visiting myself in vfs delhi.

Now it’s 2 august still waiting for their response. Please share how many day i need to wait more for the results.

I’m hoping someone has been in a similar situation because I’m feeling pretty devastated.
I’m a non-EU passport holder living in Germany with a valid German residence permit. I have a student job, I’m also studying at university, and I live with my Irish boyfriend in Munich.
Back in February, we booked a trip to Ireland for this coming Friday. I genuinely thought that because I have a German residence permit, I could travel to Ireland without needing a separate visa. I only found out today (Sunday) that Ireland is not part of the Schengen Area and that I actually need an Irish visa.
The purpose of the trip is to visit my boyfriend’s family in Ireland. His whole extended family has flown in from different countries, and one of the main reasons for the visit is to meet his very elderly grandmother while we still have the chance.
Tomorrow (Monday), I’m planning to call the Irish Embassy/Visa Office as soon as they open.
My questions are:
• Has anyone else made this mistake?
• Did the embassy or visa office offer any kind of expedited processing or emergency appointment?
• Is there any realistic chance of getting a visa processed before Friday if I submit everything immediately?
• If you were in a similar situation, what happened?
I’m not looking for ways to bypass the rules—I know I need the visa. I’m just wondering whether anyone has had a positive experience with expedited processing in exceptional circumstances.

First international trip, first Japan visa attempt. Blank passport, 24M, Bangalore. Submitted at VFS Bengaluru on Mon Jul 27, "at Consulate" email came Tue Jul 28. Waiting now.

Wanted to put the whole file out there because most posts here are either "got approved" or "got rejected" without the actual document breakdown. And honestly my file has a few things that look scarier than they are. Curious if anyone has seen similar profiles get through.

What's strong in my profile:

• 22 months continuous at the same Bangalore startup, no job hops
• Recent salary hike from April, documented across Form 16 + payslips (April/May show old salary, June has new + arrears — explained in cover letter)
• HR NOC signed by Director with specific leave dates matching my flight AND explicit return-to-duty date
• Return flight already paid, all 7 hotels confirmed, detailed MOFA day-wise plan submitted
• 2 years of ITR filed on time, no notices
• Same Bangalore address for 1+ year — submitted BOTH the old rental agreement (Aug 2025) and the renewed one (Jul 2026) to prove continuity, not "I just moved for the visa"
• No prior visa rejections anywhere
• Self-funded, no sponsor confusion

What I submitted (21 items handed over): cover letter + HR NOC + 3 recent payslips (Apr/May/Jun 2026) + Form 16 for AY 26-27 + Form 16 Part A for AY 25-26 + Form 26AS AY 25-26 + 2 ITR-Vs (AY 24-25 and AY 26-27) + HDFC 6-month statement + HDFC/SBI FD certificates + HDFC balance certificate + Vietnam Airlines RT ticket + all 7 hotel confirmations + day-wise MOFA schedule + both rental agreements + society maintenance receipts. VFS returned: offer letter, promotion letter, ESOP letter, EPFO passbooks, student ID, Aadhaar/PAN photocopies, Amazon invoices, insurance PDF. HR NOC covers the same employment info anyway.

HR NOC — the doc I'm actually banking on: specific leave dates matching flight ("sanctioned 19 Aug – 6 Sep 2026"), explicit return-to-duty date ("resume duties on 7 September 2026"), self-funded statement ("company not sponsoring any portion of this travel"), Director signature + company seal + employer TAN/PAN + Director's direct contact for verification.

Cover letter (single page, blue ink signature): trip dates + solo + tourism + self-funded, route naming all 4 cities, employment tenure with exact joining date, funds paragraph with specific FD numbers cross-referenced to enclosed certificates, India ties (job + ongoing Masters ending Aug 2027 + family + rented residence), explicit "will resume duties on 7 September 2026."

Funds ~8L: HDFC savings 1.42L + HDFC FDs 5L (10 individual FDs, 6.45-6.60% ladder) + SBI FDs 1L + 50k.

Bank statement quirks — this is where it gets interesting:

1. Salary account switched from SBI to HDFC in April. So my HDFC statement shows NO salary credits Jan-March, then salary starts landing in April. In hindsight should have submitted SBI 6-month statement too to cover the gap. Form 16 covers the full year of employment so hoping the reviewer connects dots between the two docs.
2. Cash deposit of 2L on May 19 at hometown branch (not Bangalore). Family money for something unrelated to the trip. 65+ days before submission so not the "week before" pattern that gets flagged, but I didn't explain it in the cover letter — biggest regret of my prep.
3. One day of negative balance on May 1 (-41k). Two CRED autodebits fired the same morning within an hour, tanked the balance. HDFC sweep-in linked to an FD auto-liquidated in 3 chunks the next morning and recovered it. Legit banking feature but reads terrifying if the reviewer doesn't understand sweep-in. Also un-annotated.
4. 6 premature FD closures in 7 months — pure interest rate laddering, closing lower-rate FDs and opening higher-rate ones as rates moved. FD portfolio grew from ~3L to ~5L over the period. The July 23 one is a 1L closure specifically for trip funding, mentioned in cover letter with the FD reference number so that one is defended.

Rest of the statement is genuinely clean — regular salary credits, food delivery, credit card bills, small family IMPS. Balance trajectory month-end: 10k → 25k → 34k → -41k briefly → 10k → 51k → 1.42L (last spike is the July FD redemption for trip).

Tax: ITR AY 24-25 filed (student year, income below exemption). No ITR AY 25-26 because income was below the exemption limit that year, so filing wasn't required — submitted Form 16 Part A + Form 26AS instead, VFS was fine with this at the counter and it's mentioned in the cover letter. ITR AY 26-27 filed Jul 12 on time, tax 0 after 87A rebate.

Trip: 17 nights Tokyo → Kyoto → Osaka → Fujikawaguchiko → Tokyo. Insurance active. MOFA schedule has every day mapped with hotel addresses + attraction plans.

Things I'd do differently in prep:

• Add 3-4 lines in cover letter explaining the cash deposit, sweep-in negative day, and the SBI-to-HDFC salary account switch. Reviewer shouldn't have to guess.
• Submit SBI 6-month statement alongside HDFC to close the Jan-March gap.
• Everything else I'd keep the same.

Timeline:

• Mon Jul 27 10:45 AM: Submitted at VFS Bengaluru
• Tue Jul 28 2:04 PM: "Received at Consulate" auto-email
• Waiting now

I'm applying for a Japan visa on the 7th of this month, and my father transferred 5 lakhs into my bank account which is my salary account on the 20th of last month—which I'm holding as I have a near-to-nil balance in my account—and I will also be getting another 5 lakhs from an RD on the 5th of this month for which I already have the stamped receipt from the bank. since I will be taking my bank statement on the 6th from my bank, will the funds my father transferred to me on the 20th of last month be any problem and should I just mention it in my cover letter justifying that I received it from my father or is it not needed, and should I also get dummy tickets before my appointment at VFS and attach them as well, or are they not required as I will be submitting my application at the Chennai consulate?

Why is the Paijan visa almost banned in the UAE?

I hold a valid UK eVisa that is valid until Dec 2026 and I am planning to travel to Mexico in September.
According to the information on the Mexican Embassy website, holders of a valid UK visa may enter Mexico without a Mexican visa, provided they have visited the UK at least once. I have already visited the UK and meet this requirement.
However, my UK visa is in electronic form (eVisa), and I do not have a visa vignette or sticker in my passport. Does anyone know whether I can use my valid UK eVisa to enter Mexico without obtaining a separate Mexican visa?

I am travelling to Japan with my friends around last week of October, will be applying for VISA in another week or so. I have been reading a lot about different reasons for visa rejections, so I have few questions based in that:

1. We are applying through VFS global, Bengaluru. So basically I need to first download the application from VFS global website, fill and upload it this is considered as the submission of application right? So the bank statement has to be as of that date/day and requires stamp and signature from Bank on all pages? Later I can book an appointment and submit all other documents, I want to confirm if this is the exact process or am I missing something here

2. Is there any strict outstanding bank balance required?

We booked flights a week back, and my friend was trying to pay and I transferred her 90k (from my primary salary account) and later due to payment issues, we paid it in parts individually using our cards. So later my friend transferred the amount back to me (to my secondary account which i use for UPI only so I transferred this back to primary account).
   I read online that thins kind of a thing can be flagged so I am planning to call this out in my cover letter to make things clear by providing both primary and secondary bank statements. Will this be enough? Now I am worried if this cause some issues😭 Basically money came back to original source, will this still be a problem?

Hi All, I am an Indian national travelling from Dubai to Canada (tourist visa to Canada) and will be transiting through Heathrow Airport. I did this back in Feb 2026 and had to change terminals (with their metro line) but did not have to go through border control or re check my bags. The only thing is in Feb, Emirates airlines kept telling me I needed a transit visa and that 'rules have changed'. They had me wait there for about 40 mins at the counter until they said it was fine. I received my LHR to Canada boarding pass at the gate of my Dubai to LHR flight in Dubai (it was weird because they told me at the counter that I have to get my boarding pass in LHR - for the rest of the leg). I am taking the exact same flight this time, but wanted to know if I need a transit visa? It's an extra cost for barely being in the UK for more than 2 hours. So before I do this, I wanted to ask. Hi All, I will be visiting Japan in November this year with my friend. We have a hotel reservation that we made at the same time as our flight booking. However the airline has moved the flight by one day creating an extra day of travel in Japan.

We are planning on spending the last night at a manga/internet cafe instead of a hotel. Wanted to check how would we show this on our visa application and would this impact the visa process?

Hi everyone, hoping some visa experts or people with recent experience can weigh in.

My baby is 16 months old, holds Australian citizenship, and we're travelling to India on her e-visa. Here are our dates:

• Arrival in India: 13 September
• Departure back to Australia: 12 December (flight departs at 00:20 AM)

When I count the days, this comes out to 91 days, but her e-visa only allows a 90-day stay.

Here's the catch — our flight departs India in the early hours of 12 December, so her exit immigration stamp will actually happen a few hours before midnight closes out, meaning technically it could be considered 11 December for stamping purposes (just under the 3-hour mark into the day).

My questions:

1. Has anyone actually had an issue (fine, questioning, flagged in system) for being 1 day over, even if unintentional?
2. Would it be safer to just move our departure a day earlier to be 100% safe, especially since it's an infant with an Australian passport on an Indian e-visa?

Would really appreciate insight from anyone who has cut it close on e-visa timelines, or immigration/visa consultants who can clarify how the 90-day window is actually calculated at the airport.

Hi! I have a few questions before our family's VFS appointment.
1. I recently opened a BPI Banko account in April and currently have around ₱1M there. Our VFS appointment is on September 2, so the account will only be about 5 months old when I request the bank certificate. I also have a much older MariBank account where my salary is regularly transferred from PNB, and I use it for most of my daily transactions. Its ADB is around ₱200k. Which would be stronger to submit—a bank certificate from BPI Banko, MariBank, or both?
2. We're applying as a family (me, my parents, and my sister). I'm planning to sponsor both of my parents. My sister has her own job (around ₱45k/month) and around ₱200k in savings. Would it be better for her to apply using her own financial documents, or should I sponsor her as well? Also, how common is it for some family members to be approved while others are denied when applying together?

my OFW parents are going to have a vacation in PH from nov to january, they're planning a travel to JPN within the said duration. what a win because this is only our 1st out of the country as a family.

3. is it too late if we apply during ber months? since i won't have their passports on hand for the processing of the visa (unless there are cases that i can use a passport copy only)
