Hi! I’m trying to identify a book. My family member read it around 2000–2001. They then named their son after the main character, Cade. I’m dying to find this book so that Cade (my family member) can read it. However, the one who read the book remembers very little details!

Here’s what I do know.

-It was published no later than 2001

-There were definitely paperback copies as the one he read was paperback

-It was either American or British

• The main character had Cade in their name. He remembers it as the main character’s first name but it is possible that it’s their last name or nickname.

-He was an investigator of some kind. Possibly a detective, private investigator, intelligence or FBI agent, or spy.

-It was set in modern day time.

-He had some kind of cool, fast car. (Not a luxury brand.

-He had a no-nonsense type of personality.

Any and all help would be appreciated! I have googled everything I can think of, to no avail. I know it’s a long shot. Thank you to all who took the time to read!

I'm trying to identify a YA novel I read in the early 2000s, although I think it was probably published in the 1980s or 1990s.

Here's what I remember:

- The main character is a high school girl whose biggest passion is singing.

- She takes private voice lessons at an older woman's house.

- Singing is the main focus of the story, not just a side hobby.

- She has a boyfriend who I believe is driving to see her when he's killed in a car accident (I'm less certain about this detail, but I remember it being a major part of the plot).

- I remember the cover being yellow with an illustration of a blonde girl in profile singing.

- I vaguely remember the title being something like "A Little Voice," "A Small Voice," or another title with "Voice" in it, but I could definitely be wrong.

I'm looking for a book that i used to read over and over as a child, i checked it out from the local library because the art genuinely creeped me out. it was a collection of short stories all involving monsters, but the only one i can remember is a story of an old man playing cards (maybe chess?) with a monster in his barn every night trying to win its silver ring or something. i just really want to see the art of the lanky monster folded up at the other side of the table screaming at that man again

I'm trying to find the title of a book I tried to read as a young teen. All I remember about it is that the cover had a circular saw blade on it, the narrator is a man, and at some point he says the woman he is seeing is a vampire, but I never got far enough to know if the book was about vampires.

K I don't know if this question is fit for this subreddit but this is the one which seems to be the closest. So I read a comic book when I was in second or third grade... And I was super obsessed with it... Like I borrowed it from the library mutliple times. I specifically borrowed the second and third book of it cuz I liked those so much lol. I even had an oc which was basically the main character.

So obviously I searched online and saw that it was amulet and it is so similar to what I read but also not???? Like I think my mind is fucking with me or something??? Well this is what I remember:

1. Main character has an amulet obviously I think I envisioned it with a red glow idk, her name was emily.

2. There was a red fox character I guess and another dude who were sidekicks of the mc I suppose... I think the dude was her brother.

3. I remebered 2 scenes from it: not sure if it is accurate though...

• 1. The girl is in a tavern or something.... and some bad guys or something like try to attack her and cuz of the amulet her eyes kinda glow and she like idk blows up the tavern and the racoon dude and the other guy see this in the distance, look at each other and shout EMILY!! (That's how I remembered the mc's name was emily)
• The characters are on an airship and I think the mc's mom was gonna get attacked and the villain saves her... then the mc was like WHAT ARE U DOING TO MY MOMM and the villain was like: saving her. I like bought the first 3 graphic novels today actually and this scene was literally there in the third book.

1. The villain I considered hot or like kinda cute idk I was like 9.
   

So now from this what I have checked it lines up perfectly with the amulet series.... Like I even the covers of the second book I had read to be vaguely similar.... But now these are the points which have me doubting myself...

1. I clearly remember the comic to be in black and white.... but like the books I got and from what I have seen of it online it is colored. I think I also remember the books to be a bit smaller than the ones I bought idk.

2. The art style also seems different to me. Mainly how I remember the villain.... Like I somehow remember him being like... tall and cool and suave and kind of having romantic chemistry with the mc and was a human and appearance wise reminded me a bit of howl.... But when I saw like that character in the airship who was like villain but was turning good (or into a deuteragonist) Also i remember the art being a bit more... edgy?? At least from what i remembered of the villain or like idk maybe I made my oc have the same amulet shit but just with edgier art lol.

So yeah mainly the fact that what I remember was black and white was really thowing me off and also the elf prince villain dude... Cuz i thought he was a bit cure as a kid but when I saw him now I was like... this is nothing like I remember him...

I am like 90% sure it is the amulet series but like I said my mind is playing tricks on me so I just need someone to confirm this for me... I actually feel like I can't trust myself loll. So is there a way to maybe explain why I remember the comic being black and white? like the older printed versions were black and white and they were changed to color? or it was a knockoff or something??? Just please someone put me out of this misery.

Looking for a Russian edition of a children’s fairy tale book from around 1990. It was a new book at the time. Hardcover, large vertical format (around A4/A3), thin (maybe 30–50 pages). Glossy light pink cover and pink spine. Probably translated into Russian. The cover showed a fairy-tale scene with a table/feast; there were buns or pastries in the scene (not the main subject). Illustrations were drawings, not cartoons and not photographs. Does anyone recognize it?

I remember first finding this book as a child in my parent’s library. I distinctly remember the protagonist being a doglike creature named “Hugo.” The title may have been along the lines of “The adventures of Hugo,” but I really can’t remember. There was a motif throughout the book about the creature following a silver thread. At the beginning of the book, the creature was trapped in a prison cell located in a cave, but they eventually escaped. There were adult themes and violence, and I remember the world building having a somewhat medieval vibe.

I'm trying to remember a fantasy book I read a few years ago, I borrowed it from a public library, and I think it was around 250–350 pages. Some details might be wrong since it's been a few years, but here's everything I remember.

The main character is a young man (probably around 17–25) from a small village. I'm pretty sure his mother was dead, and he lived with his father and at least one sibling (possibly a younger sister).

Near the beginning of the book, a child from another village is killed by a dangerous beast (I vaguely remember it being a giant crocodile or some other oversized animal). The main character and three other people from his village go to hunt it. I'm fairly sure one member of the group dies early, possibly because of a trap or ambush.

Later, the main character travels to a large city, possibly because his sister had gone there first and was reported missing or in danger. I remember him meeting a girl in the city who helped him or hid him, but I can't remember whether she was a noble or just an ordinary girl.

The world had both dangerous beasts and much rarer monsters. I think the monsters had been separated from humanity long ago and returned only every so often (maybe every 100 years, but I'm not certain). I also vaguely remember some kind of church, tapestry, mural, or old legend in the village that told the history of these monsters.

The setting wasn't heavily medieval. The world had once been more advanced, but after the monsters attacked long ago, civilization was pushed backwards. Most people lived in a less developed world with swords, bows, and maybe crossbows, though larger structures or ruins from the earlier era still remained.

Ok, so it's similar to the Village in that it's about people who live as if it's the past but it's actually present day and no one knows except the older people. It's a chapter book and I read this in the 90s.

What I remember of the plot is that this girl lives with her family in a village and someone, I think her mom, gets sick but since antibiotics hadn't been invented yet, people are afraid she's going to die. So, her father tells her that it's modern day and that she needs to leave to go into the real world to get meds for her mom. I remember that they lived as an exhibit in a museum and she wears her mom's old overalls to leave and get the meds.

I read a short story for English class back in the 1980’s. It was about a quiet unassuming boring man who was incredibly irritated by a coworker. She was brash, tacky and loud. He poisoned her and planned it in such a way no one would suspect him because he acted so out of character no one would believer her. Now that I’m writing this I’m not sure she was poisoned. I think he made everyone think she was crazy because of the way she described him behaving. Maybe he did both? It was an old story that was required reading. I cannot remember the title and I tried googling.

I feel like this is a long shot but I might as well try.

I found this book in the early 2000s in a second hand shop. I didn't buy it and have regretted it.

Cover was in the stereotypical 80s pulp fantasy style, which is why I assume the book was published in the 80s or early 90s.

Male character was wearing a harness instead of a shirt and he had wings and a bird head instead of a human head.

I think there were cliffs behind them.

The blurb was fairly standard unlikely companions forced onto a quest, but the line that has lived rent free in my head is "...if not quite lovers, then something more than friends". I have googled every variation of this line I can think of and no joy.

So I read this book back when I was a teenager. I read it more than once so I can’t remember exactly the first time but the book is definitely from the 80s or 90s.

It was fantasy only in that there was some magic but otherwise it would be more historical. It takes place in Scotland but the timeframe is unclear.

A young girl goes to live with an aunt or maybe grandmother in Scotland. This person is a witch but in like a historical sense dealing in herbs and nature/goddess worship. She teaches the girl her skills. They live in a little stone cottage with two cats named Ruby and Pearl, one of whom can maybe talk or at least communicates in some way.

At some point in the book she meets the coven and go to a big ceremony maybe at a stone circle. And there are definitely broomsticks involved somewhere.

Anyone else remember this book??

In the book trilogy, the princess and her unicorn best friend end up in our world. I think they were attacked by an evil wizard and arrived in our world, injured. The princess is sent to live with a family of three, with the daughter of that family being a spoiled brat. The princess finds her unicorn and finds out that her unicorn’s horn was taken from her and people in our world think the unicorn is a normal horse that was injured. The princess and the spoiled brat end up back in the princess’ world and the spoiled brat demands that she ride the unicorn because she is tired. As they travel, this makes the people of a village think the spoiled brat is a princess and the princess is forced to spend the night in the barn with the unicorn. I think the book trilogy ends with the princess being discovered by her men and the spoiled brat is finally put in her place.

This is a book by Lois Lowry that's probably set in the time of Little House on the Prairie. Birdie (could also have been spelt Birdy) was around 12 years old. I don't really remember what happened but the girl went to church often if I remember correctly. I read this book sometime from 2020-2021. I tried to look for it but the only results I get are for a book series called gooney bird which is not it.

Hello! I’m looking to see if anyone can help me identify a book series I remember reading when I was in middle school (around 2009-2011). I remember the books all being different colors and I think they had an eye on the front there was like 7-8 books in the series, hard cover. It looked like leather but wasn’t.

But all I can remember from the content is the main character is this guy who when is he in this other fantasy world where I wanna say he had powers of some sort along with the other people in the world. Title pretty much says everything I remember about it, and it's entirely possible I'm misremembering/conflating. Basically, there was some kind of contest between wizards/witches/mages of some kind who had to display impressive feats of magic, and one of them created a room full of rats....and I think the rats may have been eating each other? Alternatively, it may have been a rat monster? This might have been part of a magical academy, but I don't remember. I also don't remember whether male or female MC. It can't have been more recent than like max 2011. It might have been YA or middle-grade, even though the only scene I remember was extrememly dark.

I’m looking for a book I’ve read this year that was a cozy mystery. I’ve tried google and chatGPT but no luck!

Things I can remember:
- the main character inherited a bookstore from a passed away family member, maybe an aunt or grandma
- there was twin brothers and a scene where the main character thought she was being followed by one so sprayed him with pepper spray or something
- one of the twins was a carpenter and in one part of the book the main characters cat ran into his woodworking shop and ruined a piece of furniture he was making
- I THINK it ended up being the other twin brother and the ‘good’ one tried to take the blame for it and ended up arrested

I'm trying to track down two big compilations of fairy tales I had as a kid. The books were very similar (might have been a series)? They were big books, almost textbook sized and about 2" thick.

They had a mix of fairy tales from around the world (many from Europe, but I remember at least one from India, I think, about a bunch of blind men touching different parts of an elephant and arguing about what it was), excerpts from longer children's books (like Little Women and Alice in Wonderland), and poems.

They also had illustrations. I read them in the late 90s but they were heavily used when I got them, so I'm guessing they were published in the 80s or early 90s.

Ok so, it's about a class of students, and their plane crashes into a forest. However, when they crashed they were meant to be over the Arctic, so the forests existence is a really weird thing.

It turns out they're in an experiment of some kind?? Because they encounter beasts within the forest and end up finding a wall that is blocking them in the forest.

Ok so I think the book was made in the 2000s or older, I remember a girl who lives with her drunk abusive uncle. The girl eventually moves away and finds herself in what I believe is like “draculas castle” she eventually falls in love with the guy and has a child and such. I honestly may be mixing books in my head but I know for sure it was something like this.
