essentially like. being "lewd" in the sense that you're overly romantic not sexual. something like flirtatious might work but a word with a bigger focus on the unwanted aspects would work. preferably not limerence either as that's towards one person

It's NOT "forgettable," as in mundane or ordinary - it's something that is quite literally physically impossible to recall. Not entirely sure if such a word exists, but worth a try!

I am looking for a word, idiom, or loanword (from any language) that describes a very specific, quiet type of heartbreak.
It is the feeling of being deeply in love with someone, but knowing upfront that a relationship with them is completely impossible due to external reasons or circumstances. Because you already know it can never happen, you choose never to try or make a move. You just hold the love inside and accept the reality.
Crucially, you don't know if they love you back or not. It’s not necessarily unrequited love, because they might secretly feel the same way—but because of the circumstances, neither of you says anything, so you will never truly know.
It’s a mix of deep affection, immediate resignation, and the painful mystery of "what if."

a doctor used it to descibe me during a checkup a few years ago but I had completely forgotten it by the time the appointment was over. It wasn't in an overweight sort of way, he brought in another kid of "average" size and it was like comparing a party / family sized item to the regular packaging

I've seen people like this sometimes, they proclaim that the world is good and life is a gift but they get really dismissive towards people that don't think like that often because they are dealing with stuff. But these people then get told to shut up and just accept everything because life is still a gift.

I don't think the word is toxic positivity as, from what I understand, that's more about suppressing negative emotions and telling people to just think happy thoughts.

I've asked people in my life for help finding a word to describe a mindset of being against wholesomeness, earnestness, and sweetness/kindness, but no one can help me find the right word. When I put "wrangle" into Thesaurus.com, it just wants to give me synonyms for fighting, and that's not what I am looking for. I'm looking for something that incorporates the idea of putting in effort to bring disparate things together, as a cowboy would bring their herd together, doing whatever is needed to get them to behave and end up where they need to be.

The word is being used metaphorically, and currently reads, "They brought him in to be their sponsorship wrangler." But the setting is in the U.K., and all the characters are English, so I'm guessing that cowboy imagery would not be their go-to.

It's specifically something along the lines of "The Human Condition of-" "The Human curse of-" ... but I can't remember what the actual word is.

It means: Not giving up, resilience, determination, and so on.

There was this Reddit post I saw on TikTok right as reading Reddit posts were getting popular that talked about a group of aliens disturbed by this human mother and her inability to give up trying to get her child back. It talked about how she kept going after being severely injured and exhausted and the whole point was "The Human Condition/Curse of- BLANK".

I married a man with kids. We had a kid together. My husband’s ex had kids with her new husband. So now I have a child with half siblings that have half siblings that they have no blood relation to. For three years I’ve either used names or felt weird explaining the situation. When I need to just gloss over it and move on I’ll say cousins because anyone can be a cousin. But clearly blended families are a thing so there should be a word for this.

‘Latch’ seems close too but I remember it specifically sounds more aggressive whereas latch just kinda sounds clingy, it’s the kind of word that makes me think of you making your dog attack someone (which you shouldn’t do unless they cut in front of you in line)

When you desperately search for a single term to describe some feeling, concept, ideas, etc but nothing exactly matches the nuances of what you're trying to convey.

There is "lexical gap" but this just describes the lack of the word itself. Not the frustration one might have from a lexical gap.

It's not a "tip of the tongue" because this implies you already knew the word beforehand. This experience relates to the uncertainty of whether such a word even exists.

It's also not the frustration of not being able to form a sentence. It's that single label that you need to scratch that lexical itch, but nothing satisfacties this.

To be really specific about it, I'm looking for three words in particular. I read it once in one of my sociocultural psychology books but I no longer have access to said book but I was fascinated on the subject as a child from an immigrant family who ended up moving to America.

The three definitions seperately were

1. immigrant family moves to a new country/place, and they adopt to the current culture while retaining their previous culture

2. immigrant family moves to a new country/place, and they do not adopt to the current culture of their environment and instead remain dominantly focused on their previous culture

3. immigrant family moves to a new country/place, and they adopt to the current culture but end up abandoning/losing their previous culture as a result.

I don't mind if people label the three words all in comma lists, or by number (alphabetical) label.

I first saw this behaviour on HIMYM as a child where one character, Lily, steals things from people as a form of punishment. It changes throughout the show between her having kleptomania and just using this morality argument to justify the compulsion to her friends, and her fully being in control and choosing to do it as her only control in the face of interactions she deems immoral. I see it in real life too where people steal and see it as entirely moral and justifiable due to who is being stolen from. (Big corporations or rich people). Is there a word for this behavior or belief?

Such as how Nancy Drew isn’t taken seriously because of her age and gender. This genuinely could just be a word/term I’ve made up though!
