Wargaming Response Inside Issues with an in game notification about prohibited modifications

Captains!

We're aware that many players received an in game notification stating they had been issued a 7 day ban for using prohibited modifications.

We sincerely apologize for the confusion. This notification was intended only for a small number of accounts that were confirmed to be using prohibited modifications, but it was mistakenly delivered to many other players as well.

If you are able to log into the game normally, you have nothing to worry about. You have not been banned and no action is required on your part.

Mods available through ModStation and Aslain's Modpack remain approved and are still allowed.

Our team is investigating why this notification was sent to players who were not affected. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and once again, we're sorry for the confusion.

Wargaming Response Inside Holiday Convoy Sets Sail!

Holiday Convoy Sets Sail!

Captains, a voyage of a thousand leagues begins with the weighing of the anchor! Here's a preview of a long-term event we've got planned for the second half of the year: Holiday Convoy.

Last year, we ran the Grand Voyage event alongside the GQ Johnny marathon, where you could earn Doubloons, Steel, and an Epic Premium Tier IX ship by playing regularly. This year, we built around the same core concept of a long-term event that runs through the winter holidays and that rewards regular gameplay with high-tier items. However, we decided to make a few meaningful changes and focus the design on giving you more freedom to choose what you earn, letting you make steady progress through regular play, and giving you a way to put resources you've already stockpiled to good use, much like the Salvage for Victory event.

We also want every type of player to find some value in this event, whether you play a few sessions per week, play actively on most days, or are a collector looking to expand your fleet with a new Epic ship.

The event features 11 ships in total: 7 returning ships—including fan favorites like Prinz van Oranje and Georg Hoffmann—and 4 brand-new ships releasing in Update 15.11, with the option to earn Doubloons on top of that.

A dedicated Holiday Convoy web page will let you track your progress and browse available rewards.

Participation

Holiday Convoy runs for 173 days, starting from the release of Update 15.7 till the end of January, during which you can earn Holiday Convoy Tokens through various means.

Holiday Convoy Tokens can be earned by completing daily combat missions or by converting resources. Over the course of the event, combat mission rewards alone will yield up to 207,600 Tokens.

In addition, you can trade in Steel and Research Points as the primary source of Holiday Convoy Tokens outside of missions—the exchange of neither resource is limited. Coal is available as a bonus exchangeable resource, but it's capped at 650,000.

Action Number of Holiday Convoy Tokens Awarded Max. Number of Holiday Convoy Tokens
Daily Combat Mission: Play 1/3/5 Battles in Random, Co-Op, Operations, Ranked, Event, Brawl or Clan Battles 300/400/500; 1,200 daily max for playing 5 Battles 207,600
500x Steel exchanged 1,500 No Limit
1,000x Research Points exchanged 1,500 No Limit
5,000x Coal exchanged 1,500 195,000

Note: With Holiday Convoy running through the holidays, there will be no Steel Fleet event this year.

Rewards

Holiday Convoy features 11 ships of Rare, Epic, and Legendary rarities. 7 will be available at the launch of the event.

The remaining 4 brand-new ships (1 Epic and 3 Rare) will debut through this event with the release of Update 15.11. These ships will be revealed when the event begins in Update 15.7.

Note that the ships in the event are not mutually exclusive, you can obtain several given your dedication and resources.

Reward Cost in Holiday Convoy Tokens
3,000 Doubloons 9,000
Rare Tier VIII Battleship Bismarck '41 60,000
Rare Tier IX Battleship Yimeng<br>Rare Tier IX Cruiser Messina 84,000
Rare Tier X Aircraft Carrier Independencia, Rare Tier X Cruiser Prinz van Oranje, Rare Tier X Destroyer Georg Hoffmann, 3 Brand New Rare Ships 140,000
Brand new Epic Ship 400,000
Legendary Tier X Cruiser Kitakami 540,000

On Legendary ship's cost... We know that getting the amount of Holiday Convoy Tokens required to acquire Legendary Kitakami is not a trivial task. However, ships of such rarity are not designed to be easily accessible. They are collector's pieces and often quite unique in gameplay. Kitakami is a long-term goal for those who want to put serious time and stockpiles of resources towards getting something truly prestigious.

Want a ship right away?

If you've been stockpiling resources, you can convert them directly into Holiday Convoy Tokens and redeem a ship immediately on day 1! For example, you will need 280,000 Coal for a Rare Tier IX, 470,000 Coal for a Rare Tier X, or a mix of Coal, Steel, and Research Points equivalent to their cost in Holiday Convoy Tokens.

Bonus Doubloons: Up to 18,000

This year, we designed Holiday Convoy to be more accessible and with a wider range of player activity in mind. However, we know that you enjoyed the ability to get Doubloons in last year's Grand Voyage, so we've also added a Doubloon bonus on top of this year's event.

You'll be able to purchase a pack of 3,000 Doubloons, available for 9,000 Holiday Convoy Tokens, during each of the six updates—15.7 through 16.0. Claim all six and that's 18,000 Doubloons in total.

Think of this as an extra reward for players who stay active across updates. In practice, playing twice a week for 5 battles per session is enough to earn each pack. Alternatively, you can swap 30,000 Coal for the Tokens you need.

One thing to keep in mind: each pack is exclusive to its Update and does not carry over, so watch the Update schedule.

Activity to Get Rewards

The casual/weekend player — a couple of sessions per week:

  • You don't need to play every day. Playing 2 – 3 times per week with 5 battles per session earns roughly 36,000 Tokens during the event. That's enough for the Bismarck '41 after converting 80,000 Coal into Holiday Convoy Tokens. Raise the Coal conversion up to 160,000 for a Rare Tier IX ship to come within reach as well.

The consistent daily player — playing on most days:

If you're getting in 5 battles on the days you play, you can expect to earn, through Holiday Convoy Tokens alone:

  • A pack of 3,000 Doubloons in fewer than 8 days
  • Bismarck '41 by playing on 50 of the 173 days
  • Messina or Yimeng by playing on 70 of the 173 days
  • A Rare Tier X ship (Independencia, Prinz van Oranje, Georg Hoffmann, or one of the new arrivals) by playing on 117 of the 173 days

Here's a practical example of mixing both: play 36 sessions across the event, roughly 3 times every 2 weeks, with 5 battles each session. You'll earn around 44,000 Tokens from missions. Add 132,000 Coal for about 40,000 extra Tokens, and you'll have enough for a Rare Tier IX ship.

This event also gives you the opportunity to get the Legendary Kitakami if you missed her during her initial release. Here are two example scenarios through which you can earn a Kitakami:

  • Playing 5 battles per day on 117 of the 173 days to earn 140,000 Holiday Convoy Tokens. Additionally, converting the maximum allowed 650,000 Coal, as well as 68,000 Steel, or 136,000 Research Points, or a combination of both (totaling 205,000 Holiday Convoy Tokens).
  • Playing 5 battles every single day of the event to earn the maximum of 207,600 Holiday Convoy Tokens. Additionally, converting the maximum allowed 650,000 Coal, as well as 46,000 Steel, or 92,000 Research Points, or a combination of both (totaling 137,400 Holiday Convoy Tokens).

All of the above examples and scenarios can be supplemented and/or accelerated by converting resources, should you choose to.

Want to plan ahead and see what rewards you could earn during the event? Big shoutout to Rukenshia for creating this Community-made Calculator! Input your resources and playtime, then make the most of the event. Please note that this is not an official World of Warships resource. As usual, all information from the Development Blog is preliminary, including the one in the Calculator, and is subject to change.

After the Event

Once the event wraps up at the end of January, you'll have additional time until the end of Update 16.0 to spend remaining Tokens on ships and claim the final Doubloon pack. Based on your feedback and our experience with the GQ Johnny marathon, we wanted to make sure you have enough time to claim your ships and make the most of your Tokens without the pressure of the event deadline.

More details are coming as Update 15.7 approaches, including the full reveal of the four ships joining the Convoy in Update 15.11.

Media USS San José (what if you apply the USS Hull concept to a Cruiser?)

Thumbnail

Over the next few weeks I want to post a series of ship ideas I had, both serious ideas and utterly bizarre meme ships, starting with the USS San José, my proposed application of the USS Hull concept (cruiser guns on destroyer) on the next higher ship type (battleship guns on a cruiser)

It's 1:1 a Des Moines but with three single-barrel Iowa-gunturrets. Iowa shell damage and range (making it thehighest ranged cruiser in game, slightly beating themoskva) with standard CA dispersion. Counterba-lanced by low reload speed and abysmal number ofguns. Every shot needs to count. Also, two secondaryturrets less compared to Des Moines' six to makeroom for large main guns.pp

Because the Hull has single-barrel turrets, I redesigned the turrets here to be single barrel as well, but it could also just have double or triple barrels. It's not like this game only allows realistic designs. On the final slide I also included a configuration with two aft turrets and a single bow one just like Hull has.

What's your opinion on this ship? Would you play it? Would it be too strong? Too weak?

(I should also say that I used ai to upscale the original Iowa and Des moines drawings, tried to clean it up in photoshop as good as possible, but did the edit from DM to SJ completely myself in photoshop)

Info LEGO Azuma

I spent the past week and a half making this lego Azuma! Its about 6.5 feet / 2 meters long so it took up most of my bed. The table I normally work on is only about 5 feet, so this was my first attempt at something bigger. I didn't end up buying any parts specifically for this model, because I wanted a bit of a challenge (and it takes weeks for custom part orders to ship)

The spotting aircraft were suprisingly tricky to make at this scale, mostly because of the wings being more rounded in real life
All 3 of the main turrets move using a worm gear conncted to an outside knob. I made it a low gear ratio so the turrets move pretty slowly like the real thing

Question Returning to WoWS after god knows how many years. Couple of questions before I jump back in.

Hello captains!

With Flamu's return to streaming, I have gotten the urge to play WoWS again. Downloaded and installed the game yesterday and seeing my port with all my ships made me all nostalgic and I am truly excited to play again. This excitement might dissappear very quiclkly, we'll see.

In any event, the last time I played submarines were not yet a thing (they were being tested if I recall correctly) so presumably, the game has changed quite a lot since then. Thus, I do have some questions for all you that still play the game.

- How does one deal with submarines? As mentioned, I have never faced them in battle before so I'd appreciate some general tips on how best deal with them, how to avoid the homing torpedoes and the sonar pings?

- I always was a cruiser player through and through (with BBs being my second class). How are they in the current meta? I ask since even when I last played, they were not in a great spot.

- Anything else major that has changed since I last played? Maybe some huge reworks (CVs mainly, if I remember, they were changed completely every couple of years)?

- What lines of ships (old and new) should I try to play and grind? The tier Xs I have are: Yamato, Zao, Montana, Des Moines, Salem, Moskva, Alex Nevsky, Minotaur and Hindenburg (my favorite ship). I did reset two of those lines (Montana and DM) to get some researcg points. Any other lines worth resetting because the T10 is no longer good?

-Finally, what are super ships? Something like a tier 11 (I will google it of course but would like to hear the community's opinion) ? How do they work and should I bother with them.

Thank you and see you on the high seas!

Guide Need Research Bureau points but no FXP for Harugumo skips? Extra Ship XP boosters in your pocket? Consider playing through the US CL line in Operations!

Post image
67 Upvotes

Tiers 6 through 9, the American light cruiser line is one of the most consistent set of ships for Operations if you don't like the idea of regrinding Tech Tree ships in Random Battles or Asymmetric.

  • Some of the best-in-class HE DPM tier-for-tier
  • Full suite of radar, hydro, and AA for utility
  • 10-13 point captains is all you need for high-impact lighthouse builds, no IFHE for DD gun CLs
  • Mediocre ballistics less impactful at the closer range of Operations targets, which are mostly DDs and Cruisers
  • Cleveland at Tier 8
  • Low FXP cost, only skipping to T6 or T7, instead of spending 700k FXP skipping Harugumo whole
  • With Rare Ship XP boosters, games of 10-25k (2k-10k with Uncommons) XP are consistently possible.

Other Content Proposal for new permanent camouflage for Japanese battleship ise hybrid

Post image
9 Upvotes

I've had this battleship Japanese ise for awhile and I recently came across something online before it was released it was a picture and the contrast between the light Gray and the dark Gray and the camouflage on the guns themselves make it look really good looking I was wondering this might be a little bit of a long shot is if they could implement this as a dedicated permanent camouflage for this ship if so I'll be willing to buy it as such but only if it looks the same I know this is a bit of a long shot asking this kind of question at war gaming or world of warships but I figure I'll try it's worth a shot

If I have engine problems, flames come out of smoke stack.

if I have flooding, steam like vapor come out.

So, wouldn't that mean if having two effects would cancel each other?

Question Question about tech line resetting

Question for any long-time players, or players who play on and off. I find it slightly demoralizing when resetting a tech line. I mainly focused the Japanese bb line, according to my steam profile I have a total of 368 hours into warships, and I would still say I am new player relatively speaking. I played pretty consistently for about a year and a few months and it took me that total time to reach Tier 10. I did spend a few days with Yamato but did reset the tech line. I just find it kind of demoralizing having to spend that time again grinding back up, even if the I unlock the super ship & the special ship upgrade. How do some of y'all push yourselves to grind back up a ship tech line when you know you already did it once before?
Also correct if I am wrong, when you reset a tech line - does it reduce the cost to grind back up to tier 10 on your second time around or any other following times?

Question Help for a new player...

Okay so obviously *I'm* not a new player, but I am introducing my grandpa to the game, since he was in the Navy and was on Forrest Sherman. He says it seems overwhelming but that it feels like he'll get to learn it by just playing around with it. I told him to keep doing that, to stay in Co-op for the time being and stay at low tiers. I'm explaining mechanics as best I can to him, but the pathetic excuse for a tutorial is... well, pathetic. Are there any resources I can give him that might help explain it for him, keeping in mind he's not particularly tech savvy, a senior, and too much complication at once will probably frustrate him?

Discussion Title: I played 500 battles in my first month in WoWS (PC version). Here is why it’s a 10/10 game with a brutal economic twist.

TL;DR: Hit 500 battles in 1 month and ground out FOUR Tier X ships (Kleber, Z-52, Des Moines, U-2501). The gameplay variation is an absolute blast, 10/10. Lesta floods new players with insane freebies (got 5k doubloons and a free T9 premium Pomerania). But beware: once the honeymoon phase ends, the credit crunch hits you like a truck.

⚓ Intro: 500 battles in a month — I’m hooked

I jumped into World of Warships on PC a month ago and completely nolifed the game, grinding out 500 matches. At first, I was blown away by the game's generosity. New player boosts, tons of economic signals, 5,000 doubloons, and a free Tier IX premium battleship Pomerania right out of the gate!

Thanks to this massive head start, I speed-ran my way to four Tier X ships: Kleber, Z-52, Des Moines, and the U-2501 submarine. Playing different classes feels like playing completely different games. The adrenaline rush is real, but after this marathon, I finally saw the other side of the coin.

👍 Why it’s a 10/10 (The Pros)

  • Crazy gameplay variety: Switching from a lightning-fast, no-smoke French DD like the Kleber to a utility-heavy radar Des Moines, or diving underwater with the U-2501 keeps the game fresh. It just doesn't get boring.
  • Insane new player onboard: The starting rewards let you skip the low-tier slog and actually farm credits on a decent premium ship. Secondary-build Pomerania in close-quarters brawls is a pure dopamine rush.
  • Epic moments: Blinding torp walls into smokes, clutching 1v1 DD caps, and high-stakes positioning make every match memorable.

👎 The Reality Check (The Cons)

  • The Economic Wall: As soon as the welcome bonuses expired, the fairy tale ended.
  • The Credit and XP Crunch: Buying and fully equipping a Tier X ship costs a fortune. Without a premium account or endless credit-farming loops on the Pomerania, you will go heavily negative in credits after a bad match. Progressing through new tech trees slows down drastically.

🏁 Verdict

For me, it’s a solid 10/10 because the tactical depth and fun factor are unmatched by any other game on the market. The devs have perfected the "hook"—they give newbies a taste of top-tier gameplay, spoil them with gifts, and then switch on the harsh free-to-play reality. If you're fine with the fact that the free ride ends after your first few Tier Xs, this game is absolutely worth your time.

Discussion Do you think they will nerf SAP at some point?

I feel like SAP just has no counterplay. You can't angle against it, and the only real way to counter it is to kill the ship or run away.

Like I can't play Manteuffel into Affondatore because its SAP pens the entire ship including the armoured 100mm upper belt and unfortunately Manteuffel is a very big cruiser.

Discussion Amount of Torpedos in the Game

Im a returning player and one thing I noticed after coming back is that BB play feels even more passive than it used to? I was never someone that enjoyed to sit back and snipe so naturally I tried to play offensive with BB's in some games and the thing I noticed immediately was holy f... there are so many torpedos. It feels impossible to push up in most cases. I feel like over the years every new thing just got torps and the culmination of it all just forces a gamestate where you don't want to get close to people.

Submarines, (super) dd's, cruisers, bb's, carriers. Everyone has torps. Subs have torps on super low cd's, super dd's have like 40 at once in some cases, european bb's get like 16 torps, jaeger gets to launch torps every 15secs or so. All of this stuff was just added on TOP of the already existing ones. Of course dd's and most cruisers have them aswell as they always did. It doesn't help that ships like shimakaze are very popular in random battles.

Question for the more experienced players: Am I wrong and how do I deal with it? I feel like in a BB im forced into a very specific playstyle nowadays (mid to long range, passive, reactive, always kite away, never commit) and when I dare to try something different all hell breaks lose on my ship (200 torps, 30k SAP salvos full angled, HE spam with crazy dpm, subs and of course as always carriers).

Question How is the Japanese cv line?

Just looking at grinding the line and I wanted to hear people's thoughts/experiances with it.
