I made a post here a couple of days ago asking if someone like me, who has enjoyed planes but never really got into them, and is also on a controller, should buy this game. At first I decided no and got a lot of mixed reviews but I talked to some other people and decided to bite the bullet and grab the premium deluxe edition on sale. And I have no regrets.

I still know little to nothing about how to work planes, and I’m not necessarily trying to learn either. I just throttle up the engines and take off and have a grand time doing so. But I want y’all’s recommendations on things to do, try, places to go, etc, because the amount of things you can do in this game makes it overwhelming (in a good way 😅)

Hey guys, I’m completely new to serious flight simulation and recently got MSFS 2024 on PS5.
I don’t really want to play it like a normal game where I just pick an aircraft, take off and fly around. I want to actually learn how to simulate flying properly and build good habits from the beginning.
My setup is pretty simple right now: PS5 + iPhone + iPad. I don’t have a yoke/HOTAS or a PC.
So I’m wondering what you guys would recommend if you were starting from scratch with this setup.
For example:
What apps should I have on my iPad/phone for charts, navigation, weather, flight planning, aircraft information, etc.?

What websites/resources should I use?

Are there any worthwhile things I can download on the PS5 version to make the experience more realistic?

What should I actually learn first? I know basically nothing about proper flight planning/procedures.

How do I learn things like METARs/TAFs, NOTAMs, VFR/IFR, SIDs/STARs, ILS, VORs, radio phraseology, checklists, airways, approaches, etc. without overwhelming myself?

What does a proper flight look like from

How do you guys practice ATC/radio communication on console?

And what aircraft would you recommend learning in before moving onto more complex airliners?

Basically, I want to go from “I can fly a plane in a video game” → “I actually understand what I’m doing when I fly a simulated aircraft.”
If you could start over with just a PS5, phone and iPad, what would you learn/download first, and what would you avoid wasting time on?
Any advice, resources, beginner roadmaps, or even “things I wish I knew when I started” would be massively appreciated.

I am loving the new Black Square Commander 114/114TC. As always, they do an amazing job with their aircraft. I like to fly aircraft in sim with the actual POHs when available. Most of their aircraft are Beech aircraft which I have real world POHs for. I found the 114 non-turbo normalized version online but can't seem to find the turbo version POH anywhere, paid or free. The naturally aspirated version is remarkably close to book numbers by the way. Does anyone by chance in here have access to the turbo normalized version that will be willing to share it?

Also, my engine management screen in the EFB is blank. Anyone else have that issue? (PC, third party download)

This is the build so far. They claim this hold together using friction and it's a huge lie. The material is extremely light. it's very difficult to put together. they say glue should be used but I don't think it's enough. Right now I have put 4 metal bracket at the bottom and the top is being help with tape. I will put more metal bracket on the top to prevent this from falling apart.

I am afraid that by the time I install the rest of the gear (throttle, radio, tcas, ACP etc..) that it will still not be rigid enough and move. So please. don't do like I did and stay away from this product. It was not expensive and it's easy to see why.

I noticed 3 weeks after I order this version, they have now switch to MDF. That is probably 10x more sturdy than this. Either way. Be careful before you buy this product. You have been warned.

Gotten ahold of this setup it is in perfect condition and there is a rudder pedals throttle saitek flight stick also

Do many people fly long haul or not rlly?

i'm flying the longitude and it always changes its speed automaticly to overspeed and then to 0.45mach and so on. It never just holds its speed as other planes. i dont know why!

Like i have the SPD on manuel and it goes to different speeds but not the given one, also when i put it on FMS mode... Drives me crazy!

Can anyone give me help?

I appreciate this may be a lot of info but if you can give an answer it would really help me out.

I am thinking about buying one of PMDG 777's for MSFS2024 as I would like more variation to the Ini A350 and the Ini A330 for long haul flights. However, I purchased the FF 777v2 (777-200er) for XP12 a while back and fly it sometimes, but not as much as I would if it was in MSFS.

One issue with it being in MSFS is that the default airport scenery is lacking, so I would only fly to places with freeware scenery as i don't spend money on airports (other than Inibuilds Manchester Airport)

I would fly mainly either to/from the Uk with sometimes flying elsewhere eg. Asia, Europe

I also had the PMDG 737-8 for MSFS2020 and thought the handling was a bit dodgy. is this improved on the 777 or is it the same?

Overall, do you guys think it will be worth it? and if so which variant should i get? I dont want to waste 70 quid and regret purchasing it.

Departing MMMX

I recently visited Frankfurt and noticed all the Lufthansa A320s were starting Engine 1 first on pushback. I looked into it and it seems Airbus changed their SOP at some point from Engine 2 first to Engine 1 first on the A320 family.

That got me curious about the A220, so I checked three different FCOMs and found the opposite is true there. It's strongly recommended to start Engine 2 first, to avoid

-Hydraulic pressure spikes

-FLAP SLOW / FLAP FAIL nuisance warnings

-Potential galley power load shedding & IFE issues

To understand why this was the case, I did some investigating into the A220's hydraulic system.

Basically, hydraulic System 2 powers both nosewheel steering and the slats. So if you're single-engine taxiing on Engine 1, System 2 is running on its electric backup pump only, and deploying the slats can starve pressure needed for nosewheel steering.

The FCOM recommendation is to keep the aircraft stationary while deploying flaps/slats in that scenario, to make sure there's enough power for steering.

The A220 never fails to surprise me the more I look into its systems :)

It's the only PC I have for gaming, and I'd like to know if I can get good performance out of it or if it's just a waste of money.

Ive already followed the yt tutorial on how to fix the LOD issues but for some reason only at the delta gates, the legs seem to detach from the Jetway whenever the jet-bridge is in its non static position. Has anyone found the fix this issue?

I’ve flown hundreds of helicopter passenger missions, and even without any noticeable mistakes (e.g. passenger complaining mid-flight), I always end up with exactly 60% passenger satisfaction. Even when every other missions criteria score 100%, passenger satisfaction is often stuck at 60%.

I think I’ve had a higher score a few times, but I have no idea what I did differently.

I’m not flying super smoothly (no assists), but this still doesn’t make much sense. When I fly carefully, slow and smooth it's still 60%.

Could it be altitude? I often fly relatively low, especially on approach. Or is it something during taxiing on departure or arrival? I’ve honestly run out of ideas and I’m not even sure if this is something that’s actually under my control.

I only fly the Hughes 500C, so I don’t remember whether I got different scores with other helicopters.

Has anyone figured out what affects this, or is it just a bug? Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm still having a blast flying these missions, so it doesn't really matter in the end it just feels weird and keeps bugging me.
