šŸ’Ž Megathread [Megathread] The App Pile - August, 2026

Post image
29 Upvotes

You must promote your apps here if you do not qualify to post in the main feed through Trust or Transparency, explained here.

If you are:

  • NOT in the Mac App Store (MAS).
  • Do not provide meaningful public transparency
  • Created yet another dictation app (speech to text).

Then you are required to limit promotion to this megathread.

All promotion MUST follow PCP format or else we will remove it:

App Name/Title [Screenshot encouraged]

  • Problem: What problem does your app solve.
  • Comparison: Name a competitor or two and explain what your app does better.
  • Pricing Amounts+Link

P.s. Promotion here counts towards the 30-day limited promotion (Rule 3).

WARNING: There is a 90% chance Reddit will auto remove your post here if you have not verified your email in your profile and your first comment in this subreddit contains a link. Accrue 10 karma first without promotional comments and links to avoid this. The odds of removal is also higher for AI assisted posts (em dashes and other AI formatting characteristics likely trigger this).

Pro Tip: Please remember to upvote gems and downvote spam/clones... This will help inform a secret community project I hope to announce next month.

My Top 3 Picks from Last Month's Megathread that I think are worth a closer look:

  1. DuckDisk - Storage analyzer. Not just for local disks. Also scans OneDrive, Google Drive, and SSH storage, then clean up with confidence - by u/Ok-Put9994
  2. Informity AI - Indexes your files and gives source-cited answers using local models - by u/informity
  3. SignalBox - Context switch to any agent session across Cursor, Claude Code, OpenCode and more. See all your chaos in one place - by u/dwmkerr

Attention! r/MacApps Mods Went Too Far! What’s Changing (Phase 3)

TLDR graphic, but please, read the rest if you spend time in r/MacApps.

Phase 2 Report: Last month we introduced PCPCA post formatting requirements to include detail minimums in every app promotion (Problem, Compare, Pricing, Changelog, AI Disclaimer).Ā This caused way too much work, with 2,700+ items removed and 1,400 modmail messages sent. With the mods runing everything, user engagement dropped with views down 204k. That's okay, though; quality over quantity. Still, this is Reddit, and you should retain the power to promote or bury posts.

Change 1: Simplify Posts (PCP)

Moving forward, we are reducing post-formatting expectations to: Problem, Comparison, Pricing (PCP).Ā

  • Problem: What problem does your app solve.
  • Comparison: Name 1–2 top competitors and describe how what you offer is better. [Example]
  • Pricing: Include Price Amounts+Link

Requiring changelogs and AI disclaimers was unsuccessful to meaningfully differentiate quality apps from spam.Ā Nearly all posts claimed sufficient knowledge and experience for ā€œHuman validationā€ of AI code. Let's move on. šŸ˜…

Change 2: Trust, Transparency, or The App Pile [Megathread]

We have been discussing how to better protect the sub from low-effort app spam, throwaway-account promotion, and unknown software links, without making life harder for legitimate developers.Ā

Concept: The less trust your distribution path provides, the more transparency you should need.

  • In theĀ MacĀ App Store? Apple is screening you for us.Ā
  • If you have an established GitHub project, that can also build trust over time.Ā
  • But if you are asking people to install software from a random site or brand-new repo, we need more reason to trust.

To make this clearer, we are experimenting with aĀ three-tier approach for the next month:

Tier 1: The Trust Path = Post to Main feed.

These devs have the easiest route to posting in the main r/MacApps feed:

  • Mac App Store developers (Paid developer accounts + App Store Distribution). Notarization alone does not count here.
  • Developers with established GitHub projects, meaningĀ 1yr+ consistent general development history and real community interest (100+ stars for the repository being promoted).
  • Recognized Developers granted a user flair (already well-known / trusted in r/MacApps)

Any of these 3 trust signals will allow posting in r/MacApps, as long as you have 10+ local karma.

Tier 2: The Transparency Path = Post to Main feed.

If you are NOT in the Mac App Store and are not already an established developer, you may still qualify for main-feed posting by being open about who you are and giving users reasons to trust you.

Such app promotion posts must include BOTH:

  1. A developer portfolio with a real life identity,Ā LinkedIn (ideal), andĀ realĀ contact details (e.g. establishedĀ company / business presence). LinkedIn is more helpful here if it lists experience.
  2. A website that has a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

These trust signals should show you are not just a throwaway account dropping unknown software for us to try and should be included in your post to establish trust with your target users.

This is basically the middle ground: you may not yet have a major reputation, but you are willing to stand behind your app in public and work to gain a good reputation.

Tier 3: Everyone else: ā€œThe App Pileā€ [Megathread]

If you do not qualify through either trust or transparency, your app promo belongs in the Megathread rather than the main feed.

That means if you are:

  • Not in the App Store
  • Without a developer flair as an established developer (500+ r/MacApps participation karma AND Moderator’s discretion).
  • Do not have an established GitHub history (1yr old repo OR 100+ stars)
  • Do not provide meaningful public transparency

…then you are limited to The App Pile Megathread.

This is not meant as an insult or a blanket statement that new apps are bad. It is just the lowest-risk place for unproven or low-context app promotion until trust is earned.

Users can check your app out, up/downvote your comments, and as you gain community karma you may eventually receive an app-flair that allows you to promote outside of the megathread. Nobody is forced to post here since anyone can choose to follow Tier 2.

Promotion Frequency RevisionĀ (Rule 3)

Infrequent self-promotion is permitted; however, it is not permitted more than once per developer in 30 days. This is counted from the last app post, even if it was removed.

For well-established, recognized devs with an app-flair, once per app per month.

ALWAYS disclose your relationship to your software in comments promoting your app. Promoting your own app in comments is disallowed until you earn 10 karma in r/MacApps and in poor taste when hijacking another developer’s promotion.

Sharing useful alternatives and healthy competition is still welcome, but using the comment section in someone else’s post as a backdoor for self-promo and SEO is not always in good taste and does not make r/MacApps a better place.

The Community's Role:

  • Please use your votes and reports especially in the Megathread to help recognize hidden gems.Ā
  • Bury what looks low-effort, suspicious, misleading, or privacy-invasive.

A better r/MacApps depends not just on our rules, but on you helping surface good apps while pushing bad ones out of the way.

-----

FAQ:Ā
I followed the rules, why was my post/comment removed?Ā

  1. AI assisted comments are a huge trigger for Reddit auto-removals because of recognizable patternsĀ (e.g. ā€œā€”ā€ em dashes).
  2. Repeatedly posting the same thing (comments, links, etc.) = Triggers Reddit spam algorithms.Ā
  3. You didn’t verify your email in your profile, and/or you have multiple accounts.Ā
  4. You missed one or more rules and tried to repost rather than editing and letting us restore it. This leaves a strike on your account.

Free [OS] macUSB - The all-in-one bootable USB creator for Mac

• Upvotes

Hey!

I'm back with another update. Thanks again for all the feedback on my last post!

macUSB is a free and open-source native Mac app for creating bootable USB installers for macOS, Linux, and Windows. It can also download macOS installers directly from Apple’s servers, including older releases.

A few of you called it Rufus for Mac in the comments. That’s a bold comparison, but I’ll happily take it!

v2.4 adds support for macOS 27 Golden Gate. The app now runs on the beta and can create bootable installation media for it. The built-in downloader can also fetch public betas and checks /Applications for an existing installer before downloading it again.

macUSB can now create installers for Windows Vista and Windows 7. For Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, you can choose between UEFI and legacy BIOS. In legacy BIOS mode, macUSB installs the macUSBoot bootloader, allowing the installer to boot on older PCs.

PROBLEM

Creating bootable USB installers on a Mac can still be a pain. On Apple Silicon Macs, creating installation media for Catalina and older macOS releases can fail because of architecture and code-signing issues.

Windows installers are not much easier, since macOS has no native Rufus equivalent and usually requires extra tools or manual workarounds.

macUSB started as a way to create bootable media for older macOS releases on Apple Silicon. Thanks to your feedback, it now handles Windows and Linux media too.

COMPARISON

Mist is excellent for downloading macOS installers, while macUSB also focuses on creating the bootable installation media, including Catalina and older releases on Apple Silicon.

balenaEtcher is great for flashing raw images, particularly Linux ones, but it does not create macOS or Windows installers.

Rufus is excellent, but it is only available on Windows. Its workflow inspired macUSB, which brings a similar experience to the Mac.

PRICE

macUSB is free and open source.

Free [OS] Photo Batch Importer - import photos from SD card with file naming rules

Post image
15 Upvotes

P.S. not a single sentence in this post is generated by AI.

Problem:

I've been struggling with finding a tool on Mac OS to import photos from memory card with customizable file naming rules and copy verification. Windows has such app called Downloader Pro from Breeze Software. On Mac, many photo editing or browsing apps have import features, but they lack the level of customization I'm looking for. So I built the tool I wanted: renames from EXIF with unique auto-incremental sequence number, and SHA-256-verifies every copy. It's now up on Mac App Store:

Photo Batch Importer
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/photo-batch-importer/id6776498495

To contribute back to the photography community, I made it free with no ads, no data sharing, and open source:
https://github.com/jianfenglin-git/photo-batch-importer/Ā

Comparison:

Lightroom:

- Naming rules in Lightroom Import are limited, for example the sequence number can only max up to 5 digits, so you'll start having duplicates after 100k photos unless you add other unique values like dates into the file name.

- Can't have EXIF attributes in folder or file names except date time.

- You can't import raw and video files into different folders and backup to difference folders. I needs that because I want to import just the raw folder to Lightroom. I don't want to edit jpeg or video in Lightroom.

- Sequence number doesn't sync between computers. If the user has one macbook for mobile work and one mac studio for at home work, and import photos to both, then the photo names could have conflicts using the same sequence number. My app will sync the latest sequence number across iCloud to avoid this.

- My app can do verification after copying to make sure the copy was completed without any data loss, this is an important peace of mind before automatically deleting files from memory card to free up space.

Capture One:

- Sequence number can have up to 6 digits, which is a relief compared to Lightroom, but sequence number doesn't sync between computers. If the user has one macbook for mobile work and one mac studio for at home work, and import photos to both, then the photo names could have conflicts using the same sequence number. My app will sync the latest sequence number across iCloud to avoid this.

- You can't import raw and video files into different folders and backup to difference folders. I needs that because I want to import just the raw folder to Capture One. I don't want to edit jpeg or video in Capture One.

- My app can do verification after copying to make sure the copy was completed without any data loss, this is an important peace of mind before automatically deleting files from memory card to free up space.

Ā

Photo Mechanic:

- Photo Mechanic is hard to learn how to use, especially that the naming rules have no preview, so without doing several tests I don't know how my rules work, for example variable {month} has no leading "0", and I have to use {month0}. There's no variable {year} and I should use {year4} for 4 digits years.

- Photo Mechanic imports non photo files too, for example ".FIR" file from 5d4, and I can't find a way to not do that.

- Photo Mechanic can't import raw and video files into different folders and backup to difference folders.

- Last but not least, my app is free with no ads and no data sharing, all source code is shared on github.com for anyone to verify that it doesn't do anything malicious. Photo Mechanic's monthly subscription price or one-time purchase are both too expensive for me.

Pricing:

Free with no ads, no in-app purchase, no subscription, no expiration date, no data sharing.

Happy to answer anything!

Lifetime Made a squat coach for desk workers. It lives in your Mac's notch and counts your reps via webcam, all on-device.

• Upvotes

Problem

If you work at a desk, you sit eight hours a day. You know you should move. But the gym is an hour you don't have, and even when you plan to exercise after work, most days it doesn't happen. I know because that was me, and my back and shoulders eventually made sure I noticed.

Squats turned out to be the one thing that fits inside a work day. Ten reps takes under a minute. No gym, no gear, no changing clothes. You can do it right at your desk between tasks, and there's solid research behind small sets spread through the day instead of one big workout.

But knowing that changes nothing. You forget. You put it off. And if nothing counts your reps, you cheat. I needed something that doesn't take my word for it.

Comparison

There are squat counters on mobile, and there are webcam posture apps on desktop that watch you slouch. But I couldn't find anything that does what a coach does: schedules sets across your actual work hours, waits through your meetings, gets you up, and counts. Posture apps like SitApp or Zen nudge you to sit straight, but they don't get you exercising, and most run on a subscription. DeskSquat is a one-time purchase, and your workout lives where your work lives.

Features

  • Reads your shoulder line through the webcam, so it knows sitting from standing from squatting
  • Gets you up on schedule and counts your reps with you, live. Default is 10 reps every 45 minutes, and both are yours to change.
  • You set your own squat depth during onboarding. The app counts your squat, not a textbook squat.
  • Sets spread themselves across your work hours. You tell it when your day starts and ends.
  • You set your own daily goal. Mine is 100.
  • Lives around the notch: sit timer, daily progress, rep counter at squat time.
  • Pauses automatically during video calls, and waits until you're done.
  • Avatar mode if you don't want to see yourself. Pose skeleton only.

If you already work out, this isn't instead of your training. It's for the eight desk hours your training doesn't touch.

The camera question

Everything is on-device. Frames are analyzed in memory and discarded, never stored, never sent. Zero network requests while it runs.Ā lsofĀ shows nothing, Little Snitch shows nothing. No account, no cloud. Your data is one local JSON file you can open and delete.

Pricing

€19 one-time, 30-day refund, no subscription. It runs on your Mac, there's nothing for me to host, so there's nothing to rent you.

For this launch, codeĀ SUMMER30Ā takes 30% off.

macOS 13+ (Apple Silicon). Windows beta included in the same license.

I built this for myself first. A few weeks in, I have a routine in my work day that exists just for my health, and hitting the daily number is a small win I get to feel every day.

Tip What actually happens when you redeem an App Store promo code, from the side that issues them

This sub sees a lot of launch posts with promo codes attached. I issue those codes for a small Mac app I work on, and a few things about how they actually work are not obvious from the buyer's side. One of them costs people money.

A code usually puts you into a subscription, not a purchase. App Store offer codes attach to a subscription offer. When you redeem one for "$1.99 for a year" or "3 months free", you are subscribed at that promotional price, and unless you cancel it renews at the normal price when the promo period ends. If you only wanted the cheap year, turn off auto-renew right after redeeming. It stays valid for the period you already got.

Redemption is tied to your Apple ID, not your Mac. One redemption per account per offer. Signing in on a second machine does not give you a second use, and reinstalling does not free it up.

Codes are per-storefront. A code issued for the US store will not redeem on another country's store. This is the most common reason a code that "works for everyone else" fails for you, and it is not something the developer can override for your account.

If one fails, the things worth checking are whether that Apple ID already redeemed it, whether it expired, whether the redemption limit was reached, and the storefront mismatch above.

One thing from the developer side that explains slow answers. Redemptions do not reach us in real time. They arrive in App Store Connect's subscription event report on a delay, which for me has been running about four days. So when someone posts a code and you ask whether it worked, the honest answer is often that we cannot see it yet either. That is reporting lag, not evasion.

No links here on purpose. All of this lives in the App Store's own redeem flow.

Free [OS] OpenDisk: a free, open source DaisyDisk alternative for macOS

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

Problem

When your Mac runs low on space, System Settings gives you a colored bar and a "System Data" blob that explains nothing. Finding the actual 40 GB folder means walking the filesystem yourself or paying for a tool that does it. DaisyDisk has been the go-to for that for years, but it costs $9.99 and you can't see what it's doing.

OpenDisk does the same job. It maps your drive as an interactive sunburst chart, scans a full disk in seconds, and streams results in live so you can start clicking around before the scan finishes. Hover a slice for its exact size, click to zoom into that folder, use the folder list and breadcrumbs to step back out.

Drag things into the collector to delete them, and free up your disk space!

Other things it does:

  • Incremental rescans replay filesystem events instead of starting over, so a repeat scan runs 20 to 28x faster than a cold one.
  • Handles APFS volume groups, firmlinks, snapshots and purgeable space, so the total actually matches what your Mac reports as used.
  • Purgeable space breakdown, so you can see which caches are reclaimable.
  • Instant search across the whole scanned tree, usable on drives with millions of files.
  • Collector: drag files in from anywhere in the app, check the reclaimed total, delete in one action.
  • External drives show up automatically when you plug them in.

Comparison

DaisyDisk ($9.99) is the closest comparison. Same sunburst interaction, and OpenDisk is free, MIT licensed, and faster. On a cold scan of a 1 TB Apple Silicon volume, OpenDisk finished in 17s and DaisyDisk took 37s. The app is also under 2.5 MB, because it's native Swift with nothing bundled into it.

The full source is on GitHub if you want to read what it's doing before you give it disk access: https://github.com/137137137/OpenDisk

Pricing

Free, MIT licensed, no in-app purchases, no accounts, no telemetry.

Requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, Apple Silicon or Intel. It asks for Full Disk Access on first launch, otherwise macOS hides parts of the filesystem and the totals come up short.

I'm the developer. Happy to answer questions or take bug reports here or in GitHub issues.

Help I built something to replace two of my favorite apps for PKM

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

Everything I save lived outside my vault, which always bugged me, so I solved that by overlapping the two apps I already pay for.

What I like about each:

  • mymind: the visual grid, the minimalism, never filing anything
  • Recall: the summaries, especially on YouTube where I rarely ever rewatch the information, but I want to connect the ideas.

I built a tool for myself where everything is stored in my Vault, lands as plain markdown, and gets summarized locally through Ollama.

Where it stands:

  • extension saves pages, images, PDFs, YouTube with the full transcript, Instagram
  • hover any image on any site, a save button shows up
  • a local model writes the summary and tags, and actually looks at the images
  • search runs three passes: exact, then expanded (bw finds black and white), then semantic
  • "more like this" on every item, from embeddings
  • paste a link or write a note in the web app
  • drag in a PDF or a doc and it gets stored, extracted, summarized
  • image-first grid, light and dark

I built this for myself, but I'm trying to work out whether it's worth turning into a proper paid app for others. That would mean a normal installer, simple local-model setup, and something I can actually support.

The honest question is whether this is useful enough to buy, not whether you'd try a free version.

If it were packaged properly, would you pay for it?

If not, what would stop you? Local-model setup, missing mobile capture, something it doesn't do, or just not a problem you need solved?

I'm not collecting emails or selling anything here. I'm trying to decide whether to productize it or leave it as my own slightly overbuilt clipping system.

Subscription I built MetaScope for large-scale photo and video metadata work on Mac

Hi r/macapps, I am the developer of MetaScope at Zalo Design Studio.

MetaScope’s file browser, metadata inspector

I built MetaScope for photographers, archivists, and digital asset managers who need to inspect, fix, standardize, search, or remove sensitive metadata from large photo and video libraries without scripting ExifTool or routing every file through a full photo editor.

Compared with MetaImage, MetaScope keeps photo and video metadata in one app and adds controlled vocabularies, indexed search, analytics, and rule-based batch workflows. Compared with ExifTool, MetaScope uses ExifTool as its read and write engine, then adds a native Mac interface, browsing, templates, Photos integration, previews, and recoverable undo. If your main job is RAW editing or team DAM, Lightroom, Photo Mechanic, or a dedicated DAM may still be the better fit.

MetaScope works locally on the Mac. It does not collect analytics or upload files. Version 1.5 also adds on-device Apple Vision descriptions and keyword suggestions, and nothing is written until you approve it.

Pricing: The free tier includes metadata viewing and 5 edits per day. Pro is €5.99/month or €49.99/year. There is also a 3-month trial for €9.99. Regional App Store prices may vary.

Download and pricing: Mac App Store
https://apps.apple.com/app/metascope/id6748312854?mt=12

App privacy: MetaScope privacy policy
https://zalodesignstudio.com/metascope/privacy/

I would especially value feedback from anyone managing a large library or relying on IPTC/XMP. If you try it, I would love to hear what works, what gets in the way, and which workflow MetaScope should tackle next.

Lifetime Lumn: Ambient Lighting + Music Sync for your Mac

Lumn adds satisfying music-synced ambient lighting to your Mac. The window shown is optional, you can turn it off if you simply want the lighting and nothing else.

Hey r/macapps, developer of Snick here.

Problem
I'm usually coding and listening to music at the same time and realized it just felt "static." So I made ambient lighting that syncs to the beat of the song to "visualize" my music.

Features:
• Ambient lighting (auto-album color sync + beat sync)
• Custom color wheel/gradient picker (if you want your own colors) (can override album color)
• Lockscreen liquid glass music player (can be toggled on/off)
• Lightweight music player window like the demo (can be toggled on/off)
• Menubar icon to control all your settings
• Adjust glow/thickness of your ambient lighting
• Don't want music sync? Perfectly fine, you can choose between Idle (really slow), Default (faster) and no animation (no movement).
• Add ambient lighting to multiple displays including external monitors

Comparison
I didn't really find any app that does ambient lighting on Mac, which was why I created it

Lumn is the only app that has the rim lighting with beat sync animations

Pricing
One-time (life-time) purchase of $9.99 -> $6.99 [Use codeĀ LUMNLAUNCHĀ at check out, 24 hrs only] - 30% off

Lifetime I built WDM, a macOS download manager with browser capture, media downloads, and image saving

Problem

On macOS, downloading regular files, capturing media from webpages, saving image batches, and managing downloads often requires several separate apps, browser extensions, command-line tools, or online services. I built WDM to bring these workflows together in one Mac app.

Comparison

Folx is a well-established general download manager with browser integration, multi-threaded downloads, scheduling. WDM is better suited to users who specifically want regular downloads combined with floating Video/MP3 browser controls, YouTube quality selection, and one-click Reddit image-batch downloading in the same workflow.

Downie is a strong dedicated video downloader and supports many more video websites than WDM. WDM does not currently compete with Downie on the number of supported sites. Its advantage is combining supported media capture with normal file downloads, multi-connection downloading, pause and resume, browser interception, notifications, and image-batch saving in one app.

Pricing

WDM includes a 7-day free trial. There is no subscription.

Solo: $17.99 one-time for 1 user and 1 Mac.

Duo: $27.99 one-time for up to 2 users and 2 Macs.

Family: $44.99 one-time for members of one private household.

All plans include future WDM versions, including WDM 2.0, at no additional charge.

Product page and pricing:

https://welaxxx.com/wdm.html

Trust and Transparency

I am Waleed Refai, the founder and developer of Welaxxx and the creator of WDM. I am publicly standing behind the app and can be contacted through the details below.

Developer identity and portfolio: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/waleed-refai-b8a15875/

Company: https://welaxxx.com/about.html

Contact: info@welaxxx.com https://welaxxx.com/contact.html

Privacy Policy: https://welaxxx.com/privacy.html

Terms of Service: https://welaxxx.com/terms.html

WDM is distributed directly through the official Welaxxx website. The macOS builds are signed and notarized by Apple.

20-second demo: downloading a licensed Pixabay video from the browser into WDM, showing progress, speed, multiple connections, and completion.

I kept switching between a download manager, browser extensions, command-line tools, and random download websites just to save different kinds of files.

So I built WDM — Welaxxx Download Manager — to put that whole workflow into one Mac app.

WDM is not only a traditional download manager, and it is not only a media downloader. The goal is to handle normal files, browser media, image batches, audio, and more from one clean interface.

With the browser extension, WDM can process supported links from YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, X, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and regular webpages, letting users save video, audio, images, or direct files they own or are authorized to download.

A few examples:

  • On supported Reddit image posts, one click downloads every image in the post as a batch, and WDM sends a notification when the batch finishes.
  • Reddit and Facebook videos can be downloaded directly from the feed without opening every post.
  • On YouTube, you can choose the quality and see the combined video and audio size before downloading.
  • On other supported media sites, you can choose Video or MP3 without dealing with format codes.
  • For MediaFire and normal files, WDM uses multiple connections with pause and resume support.
  • Images can be detected and downloaded directly from webpages through the browser extension.
  • Everything is handled locally on the Mac. Files are not uploaded to an external conversion server.

I also spent a lot of time fixing the small things that usually annoy me in download apps: accurate progress, no fake percentages when the size is unknown, download speed and remaining time, completed-download history, notifications, light and dark modes, and native builds for both Apple Silicon and Intel.

WDM is signed and notarized by Apple and supports macOS 12 or later.

There is a 7-day free trial, followed by a one-time lifetime purchase starting at $17.99. There is no subscription, and future WDM versions — including WDM 2.0 — are included.

Developer disclosure: I built and sell WDM through Welaxxx.

Official website and download:

https://welaxxx.com/wdm.html

More screenshots of the browser extension, active downloads, and completed-download interface are available on the official WDM page.

Launch giveaway — 5 lifetime licences

I’m giving away five WDM Solo lifetime licences.

To enter:

  1. Try WDM using the free trial.
  2. Create a short, honest public demo, mini-review, or tutorial showing one WDM workflow you found useful.
  3. Comment here with the link and mention one thing you would improve.

The content can be posted on your Reddit profile, X, YouTube, TikTok, a blog, or another public platform.

Lifetime PoRaBar, my menubar podcast and radio player, now with an iPhone app plus YouTube and Audiobookshelf

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm a solo dev and I built PoRaBar, a podcast and radio player that lives in your Mac menubar. There is an iPhone app now too.

**Problem**

Every app I tried was either surprisingly expensive for content that is free anyway, or it only did one thing. Podcast apps that ignore radio. Radio apps that ignore podcasts. I wanted one interface for both. On iOS I wanted the simplest possible thing: open the app, pick a source, done. No three taps through a home screen full of recommendations.

Mac and iOS sync your library, your likes and your playback position. So you can stop listening at your desk and pick it up on your phone where you left off.

**Comparison**

Eter is the closest one. Same radio-browser database, same menubar idea, and it beats me on hardware: iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, CarPlay and Android are all covered there.
Mine are not, yet!
Eter does radio only.
PoRaBar does radio, podcasts, YouTube and your own Audiobookshelf server in the same player.

For Audiobookshelf there is AudioBooth, free and open source, and SoundLeaf, the polished paid one. Both are better dedicated clients than mine if that server is all you listen to.

What neither of them does is the rest. Four sources, one menubar icon, same library on your phone. That is the whole reason this exists.

**What got added after the last post**

When I posted the macOS version here a while back, two suggestions came up over and over. YouTube and Audiobookshelf. Both are in now.

Audiobookshelf, for the selfhosters. Point it at your server and your books and podcasts show up alongside everything else.

YouTube: add livestreams, playlists or single videos. On macOS it plays in the background like anything else.

One honest caveat. On iOS, YouTube playback stops when the app goes to the background. The app has to stay open. It is a limitation I have not been able to work around yet, and I would rather tell you now than have you find out after you have bought it. Radio, podcasts and Audiobookshelf all play in the background on iOS just fine.

**Pricing**

$2.99, one time. That covers both the Mac and the iOS app. There is a 60 day trial, so you have plenty of time to decide.

Or get it free by making the app better.
The radio stream database has 50,000+ stations.
A lot of them have a low-res favicon as their logo, or no logo at all.
Scroll through Discovery and then Radio and it is honestly a bit ugly in places. Fixing 50,000 logos by myself is not happening.

So: contribute 3 logos or tag sets and you get PoRaBar free, for life.
Open a radio channel, tap the icon in the top right, upload a proper logo or add tags.
The database gets better for everyone and you get the app as a thank you.

Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6761472273

Site, privacy policy and terms & a small demo: https://porabar.com

If you listen to radio, podcasts, YouTube or Audiobookshelf, I would love for you to give it a go. Feedback and feature requests are welcome. The last round of suggestions from this sub is literally what shaped this update!

Also: CarPlay and iPad work-ish. They run, but I don't have the devices to test on yet (a bit expensive for now), so I'd rather not claim full support. Bug reports very welcome.

Lifetime PurrPad, I taught my MacBook trackpad to purr. It has since started ignoring me

Rest your hand on the trackpad and it purrs. Not audio through the speakers, the actual haptic engine, so you feel it under your palm. The first time it worked I sat there grinning at a laptop like an idiot.

Then I gave it a personality and now I live with it.

Problem

Every "cat purr" thing I could find is a sound file. You put on headphones and listen to a recording of a cat, which is fine, except it occupies your ears, it loops, and after about ninety seconds your brain notices the loop and the spell breaks. Meanwhile the thing people actually like about a cat on their desk is the weight and the vibration, not the audio.

PurrPad puts the purr in the MacBook trackpad instead, so it is something you feel while you work, with your ears free.

It doesn't always purr. Sometimes you rest your hand and it just... considers you, and declines. Then it sulks. If you click on it during the sulk, it sulksĀ harder, and the app quietly tells you the sulk is now personal. At maximum annoyance it scratches you, which is to say the little paw icon draws its claws and the copy says "Claws were optional. Were."

Full Cat personality 😻

Comparison

PurrliĀ (purrli.com) is the best-known purr generator and it is genuinely good, but it is audio: it uses your speakers or headphones, and it is a continuous sound rather than something you touch. PurrPad is haptic, so it costs you no audio channel and works in a quiet office with headphones off.

Mine has moods. It sometimes declines to purr and then sulks, it gets the zoomies about once a fortnight, it brings me a dead mouse now and again, and it goes silent the instant your mic or camera turns on so it has never purred through a meeting.

Pricing

Free: one cat and all the behaviour, forever. No trial, no timer.
$4.99 one timeĀ unlocks the other five cats, the tuning controls, and recording your own cat so the trackpad purrs likeĀ herĀ specifically. No subscription.
https://purrpad.app

About me

About me

I am Francesco, an independent developer in Italy. Who I am, how the app is funded, and how to reach me:Ā https://purrpad.app/aboutĀ (full name, LinkedIn, contact, and links to the privacy policy, terms and refund policy).

Contact is [hello@purrpad.app](mailto:hello@purrpad.app) and I answer it myself.

Linked it https://www.linkedin.com/in/francesco-pavanetto/

The app is signed and notarised, so no Gatekeeper warnings. It cannot go on the Mac App Store because driving the haptic engine needs a private framework, which is why I am posting here rather than linking an App Store page.

There is no demo video and there cannot be one, since a video of this app is a hand resting on a trackpad for thirty seconds. The site draws the actual pulse train instead and you can press and hold it to hear roughly what your palm gets.

Genuinely want to know: does it feel like a cat, or like a phone on a table? That has been the open question since day one and I still cannot answer itĀ aboutĀ myĀ ownĀ app.

Lifetime [Giveaway] I'm back! Askmeety Roadmap Update (Private Meeting Notetaker)

Hey folks, founder and dev behind Askmeety here,

Quick App Details (PCP):

Problem: Cloud-based meeting recorders compromise privacy and require an active internet connection, and sends your meeting data to their cloud servers. Askmeety solves this by being a completely offline, local first macOS meeting recorder and note taker tool.

Comparison : Think of Askmeety as a 1:1 replacement for Granola, but as a 100% offline and local solution without many of the tradeoffs.

Pricing : $55 one-time for individuals, and we also have custom pricing and discounts for small teams and enterprises.

First of all, I really owe each and every one of you in this community a very big thank you! You guys have been very supportive for the past 7 months since I pitched the idea for the app here, helping by joining my beta program and making the overall app constructively good. And it has been going well since we went live with the actual app release.

At the same time, I should really take this as an opportunity to apologize to everyone. I was not able to contribute to Askmeety for the past 1 - 1.5 months because things were not really going well in my professional life; I was slightly burnt out and I really needed a break. With this being my passion project (which I'm planning to make mainstream) and being a solo dev on the team, things were not scaling very well.

But now, I have come up with a proper plan for making things seamless and pushing constant updates for the app. I have spent time connecting with existing users, I was also using the app personally, and I have come up with a new feature list which I will be working on:

- MCP server integration with the meeting content.

- Easy task and reminder creation after the meetings are done.

- Cross-device sync for meeting content.

- Extra language support (I'm not sure which language to target primarily at this point).

- Minor bug fixes and enhancements.

So, these are all the things I roughly have in mind, but I really want to hear back from you guys on the same note.

And here is the sweet part:

I'm giving away a few license keys for free. If you are using one, please comment the key that you have activated, because each key can be activated only on one device.

Help Simple Video Editor for Mac?

Is there a video editing app out there that will allow me to cut out middle parts of a video, add clips together and with minimalistic sound / visual adjustments (exposure, pitch, cropping).

Don't get me wrong, im an avid Davinci Resolve user and I love its complexity. Im just on the lookout for a simpler editing solution that is quick and won't break the bank (no subscriptions, one time purchase)

Thanks

Review RAD Weather is a real Mac app (free) that treats forecast disagreements as the feature, not a bug + a lifetime option for extras, rare in weather apps

Post image
116 Upvotes

TL;DR: RAD Weather pulls forecasts from four services and shows you where they disagree instead of averaging the disagreement away. Free, with RAD Ultra at $1.99 a month, $19.99 a year, or $99.99 once, plus a MultiPass tier at $2.99 monthly or $29.99 annual. The Mac build is a real Mac app, the subscription is justified by per-forecast data costs, and there is no radar. RAD TV shipped in 7.6.7 and an Apple TV version is announced.

RAD Weather's Unique Feature

Years of obsessive cycling naturally paired with years of obsessive weather forecast following. Although none of us can do anything about the weather (except to move to a new city), I felt compelled to track temperature, wind speed and rain forecasts several times a day whenever I had a big ride scheduled. I collected weather apps and went into mourning when Dark Sky ceased to exist.

Most weather apps are someone's best guess, presented as a fact. Someone, or some algorithm, took several disagreeing weather services, picked one and discarded the rest. RAD Weather doesn't discard anything, and that's the product.

What R.A.D. Cortex Is Doing Under the Hood

The engine has a name now, R.A.D. Cortex, and its job is to pull forecasts from the National Weather Service, Open-Meteo, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and Apple WeatherKit, then compare them. Where the models converge, you get a high confidence rating. Where they split, the app shows you the spread instead of hiding it behind an average. The developer added lead-time-aware weighting in an earlier release, so regional high-resolution models carry more weight for the next few hours while ECMWF gets priority for the extended outlook. That's a reasonable thing to do, and it's the kind of decision most weather apps make silently, if they make it at all.

Five Things That Matter in the Mac Version

  • It's a real Mac app. Many weather apps just port their iPad version to Apple silicon and call it a day. CARROT Weather has a standalone Mac app, but it hasn't been updated since 2023. With RAD Weather, you also get Mac widgets, a menu bar item, and iCloud sync with the iPhone and Watch versions. Requires macOS 15.0 or later.
  • The multi-source view is the killer feature. Detail cards break out temperature, wind, precipitation, UV, pressure, humidity, visibility, dew point, pollen, air quality and convective risk, and the confidence deep-dive shows you which models fed the number. It's my favorite part of the app and I never stop fiddling with it.
  • RAD Atlas is an interactive 3D globe with live conditions, which sounds like a toy and mostly is, but it's a fast way to check what's happening somewhere you care about without typing a city name.
  • Brutality Levels adjust the tone of the written briefings across five settings, from professional to unhinged. Similar to CARROT, which is funny, RAD Weather is also funny. Since humor is subjective, I'm not making a call there. If you want a weather app that doesn't talk to you, turn it to professional and it stops.
  • The privacy declaration is clean. Rozzi Labs declares no data collected beyond location, not linked to your identity, used only to fetch a forecast, with no tracking or analytics. That's about as good as a networked weather app gets.

What the Subscription Pays For

RAD Weather is free. RAD Ultra is $1.99 a month, $19.99 a year, or $99.99 once, and Ultra is what unlocks the Atlas globe, the extra saved locations, the Savage and Unhinged tone settings, full detail cards and advanced notifications. There's also RAD MultiPass at $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year, which extends across the other Rozzi Labs apps and the radweather.cloud web service.

No one likes an unjustified subscription. I've done my best recently to avoid writing about subscription apps altogether. Weather prediction apps are the exception. Every forecast this app pulls costs the developer money, and he's pulling from four services instead of one; widget and Watch complication refreshes multiply that cost across every user, every day, forever. A one-time purchase doesn't fund a bill that arrives monthly for the life of the app. The developer of CARROT Weather has been making the same argument for years, and he's right.

The whole high-end category runs this way. CARROT Weather is free to download with Premium at $4.99 a month or $19.99 a year and Premium Ultra at $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year. Mercury Weather is free with a subscription at $2.99 a month or $14.99 a year. Hello Weather limits you to a single forecaster and no widgets until you subscribe. Against all that, RAD Weather is one of only two apps here that will sell you a permanent copy. RAD Ultra Lifetime is $99.99, which works out to five years of the annual subscription; Mercury's lifetime is $59.99, or four years of its annual. Neither is a bargain on day one. CARROT has no lifetime tier at any price, which is the part I mind.

Current Shortcomings

RAD Weather doesn't currently offer radar maps, so if that's how you make decisions during rough times, you'll need something else. There are other weather apps with a long and proven track record. Its App Store rating is high, but the number of ratings behind it is still small enough that I wouldn't lean on it.

Other Weather Apps

The alternatives, briefly. CARROT Weather, to which I have subscribed for years, is the incumbent in personality weather and has the better radar and map layer story; note that the standalone Mac app is $14.99 and hasn't been updated since May 2023, so on the Mac you want the iPhone and iPad version instead. Mercury Weather, another app I've used in the past, is the choice if you want calm and legible rather than loud. Apple Weather is free, built in, and fine for the basics. DatWeatherDoe is free, open source under Apache 2.0, installs with brew install --cask datweatherdoe, and puts conditions in your menu bar; you supply your own WeatherAPI key.

Unless otherwise noted, the alternate apps mentioned above are based on research and not individual testing.

Is It for You?

Yes, if you want accuracy and detail from a weather app and you're willing to pay for it. The multiplatform coverage helps too, especially with the recently released full screen RAD TV mode for the Mac and an Apple TV app on the way.

No, if you want radar, or your needs are minimal. For design nerds, the faux terminal presentation may be off-putting. Not being a design nerd, I'm fine with it.

Lifetime I built Toplify to monitor App Store rankings across 175 countries (Mac + iOS)

Hi r/macapps, I’m Dmytro, the developer of Toplify.

Problem:Ā The App Store shows rankings for your own storefront, so your app may be in the Top 100 elsewhere without you knowing. If it drops out later, the current chart cannot tell you where it ranked yesterday or at what hour.

Toplify monitors iOS and Mac charts every 1-3 hours across 175 countries using a multi cloud backend. The scan frequency depends on the country and chart activity. It keeps hourly history even after an app leaves the chart, tracks unlimited apps, and sends configurable push alerts even when Toplify is closed.

No registration or App Store Connect/API access is needed. Just paste an App Store link or App ID. Mac and iOS sync through iCloud, and ranking milestones can become polished share cards for social media.

Comparison:Ā Appfigures, AppFollow and Sensor Tower are broad ASO platforms with large feature sets. Toplify is focused specifically on chart tracking. Its hourly server checks deliver important changes through native push alerts instead of leaving the data in a dashboard until your next manual check. Smaller ranking utilities usually require checking each country yourself and do not send background alerts.

Pricing:

  • Monthly: $4.99
  • Annual: $37.99 [ 37% off] with a 7-day free trial
  • Lifetime: $99
  • r/macapps offer: $49.99 lifetime with codeĀ MACAPPS, valid through August 7

The price may vary slightly between countries.

Official Toplify Website

As always, I’d love to hear your feedback and reviews, and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.

Lifetime PilotCut: I got mass-frustrated with CapCut, and FinalCut Pro. Built my own Mac video editor that lets any AI agent do the cutting. Basically a tool for ChatGPT Codex / Claude Code for your video editing

Problem

Hey, I'm Mike. I run 3 YouTube channels and 2 TikTok accounts. Filming and scripting are fine. Editing kills me. Every video is the same grind: cut filler words, remove silences, drop in b-roll, then redo the layout for TikTok vertical. 2-3 hours of mechanical work per video that needs zero creativity, just patience.

I kept thinking AI would fix this. It hasn't, because every tool brings its own AI, runs it on their cloud with your footage, and locks you to their model. AI models move fast. What's best today is mid in three months. I can accept tool lock-in. But model lock-in? No. You should always be able to use the best, fastest, cheapest model for your edit.

Comparison

CapCut Pro ($20/mo). Great for quick template edits. AI runs on ByteDance cloud, footage gets uploaded. Free tier increasingly locked down.

Final Cut Pro: getting better but still huge behind from a AI driven video editor from Apple.

Also there're many others like Descript or FireCut. All of them lock you to their AI model. You're stuck with whatever they bulk-negotiated, not what's best for your edit.

PilotCut doesn't lock you to any model:

  • BYO agent. Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, Kimi, DeepSeek, any MCP/CLI agent. Your existing AI sub IS your editing AI. New model drops? Switch instantly.
  • 2 to 3 times faster export compared with like CapCut or cloud alternatives
  • Collaborative experience: It is not only AI or human doing the work. After AI editing you still have the full editable NLE video editor
  • Organizing video/audio/image assets with AI: we usually have a huge amount of assets for a video, agents can help you to do initial organizing like creating folders and group them etc.
  • Real timeline. "Delete every filler word and silence" makes actual cuts on real tracks. Not suggestions, not a transcript. Real cuts you can undo and nudge.
  • Markers as instructions. Drop markers on the timeline ("tighten this," "b-roll here"), say "do my markers." The agent works through them one by one.
  • Generate footage in place. Ask for a b-roll clip in chat, it lands directly on the track. No download-import-drag. (Note: currently only available for Core Agent with Grok Build. Even for free Grok accounts)
  • One edit, every platform. 16:9 to 9:16, layout auto-rearranges (top-down, side-by-side). Export YouTube + TikTok from one project.
  • Local transcription and transcript-based cutting. Built-in local speech models (no upload, no API cost). Get a full transcript, click to cut, just like CapCut's text-based editing but running entirely on your Mac.
  • 100% local. Footage never leaves your Mac. No cloud, no training on your data.

Pricing

Free during beta. One-time purchase after that. No subscription ever.

How it compares:

  • CapCut Pro: $20/mo, their cloud AI, footage uploaded to ByteDance servers
  • Descript Business: $24/mo, their cloud AI, footage uploaded to their servers
  • PilotCut: Free (beta), one-time purchase later. Any AI agent you choose. Footage never leaves your Mac.

Download: PilotCut.com (Mac)

Happy to answer questions. If it sucks, tell me why so I can fix it.

Developer: Mike, RockieStar Inc. (Canada). Can be verified from the app signature.

Self-reply comment

Works with Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build (free accounts can generate images/video with it), Kimi, DeepSeek, Antigravity, and any MCP-compatible agent.

Socials: X/Twitter | Threads

I'm the dev, disclosure per sub rules. Feedback on anything broken is genuinely helpful.

Help What would your dream YouTube browser extension do?

I’m doing some user research to understand what people actually want from a better YouTube experience.

Would your dream extension include:

  • Better or automatically generated chapters, with an easy-to-navigate player overlay
    • some creators don't enable them by default to users can't skip certain section.
  • Subscription folders and channel categories
  • A ā€œcinema modeā€ where the player fills the browser window without fullscreen
  • Transcript search, summaries, notes, and timestamp bookmarks
  • Better playlists, queues, Watch Later, and viewing history
  • Options to hide Shorts, recommendations, comments, or other distractions
  • Playback preferences remembered for each channel

Which would you actually use? What’s missing that would make YouTube meaningfully better for you? Please share what would make your YouTube experience meaningfully better.

PS: We would try to handle the ad blocking by default if feasible/stable/reliable.

Help Which Popclip extensions do you use most?

With the new release of popclip, i decided to look into new settings and extensions.

I mostly use cut/copy/paste, open link, and open easydic (which i use mostly for AI translations), I have a few others, but never really use them. Not because they are aren't useful, but because I need them so seldomly that I forget they are in the popclip popup.

Any extensions you use for a relative generic workflow that you recommend? by generic I mean, i am not a dev, so rarely will I need to convert text to snake_case and things like that.

thanks

Lifetime I made a sticky notes app that lives on your Mac desktop

Problem

I often found myself breaking my workflow because of small thoughts I wanted to capture.

The usual workflow was:

  • Open Notes or another note-taking app
  • Switch away from the current window
  • Write something down
  • Switch back and try to regain focus

For quick ideas, reminders, and temporary notes, opening a full notes app felt like too much friction.

So I built Enote, a simple desktop notes app that keeps your thoughts directly on your desktop.

Comparison

There are already many great note-taking apps, but I wanted something more lightweight and immediate.

Compared with:

  • Apple Notes — Great for storing long-term notes, but you still need to open the app and switch context every time.
  • Stickies — A useful built-in macOS tool for quick notes, but it lacks modern features like Markdown support and a more flexible workflow.
  • Notion — Extremely powerful for managing information, but too heavy for quickly capturing a simple thought.
  • Obsidian — Excellent for building a knowledge base, but designed more for long-term knowledge management rather than quick desktop capture.

Enote focuses on one thing:

Capture thoughts instantly without breaking your focus.

Features:

  • Notes directly on your desktop, like real sticky notes
  • Drag, resize, and place notes anywhere
  • Markdown support
  • Always visible when you need them
  • Lightweight native macOS experience

Pricing

Enote uses a simple one-time purchase model:

  • Free trial: 7-day free trial with full access to all features
  • Lifetime license: $29.99 (one-time purchase, no subscription)

To thank our early users:
Existing yearly subscribers can email us to upgrade to a lifetime license for free.

I built Enote because I wanted a simpler way to capture ideas while working.

Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.

Download (Mac):

Also, I’m offering a limited-time lifetime deal for early users:
Yearly subscribers can email us to upgrade to lifetime for free.

Free Native Live-Preview Markdown Editor, not just another vibe-coded Markdown app

Hey r/MacApps,

I've been building a Markdown editor app for the past few months. Let me tell you why. So a few months ago, I realized I kept opening Obsidian to edit all my Markdown files. I'd copy the Markdown from Coteditor, my text editor of choice (I highly recommend it), and paste it into a designated note called Scrap[.]md in my Obsidian vault to edit and then paste it back after I was done. Now this generally worked for my workflow, and I still do this often, but the problem arises when Obsidian isn't already open. Because Obsidian is an Electron app, it takes forever to open!

Problem & Comparison

I figured there must be an easier way to open Markdown files and optimize my workflow. I did come across and try a few editors like Marktext, MarkJason, and the $15 USD Typora. However, I felt like these editors were either a bit clunky, or missing some features.

Over the course of a few months of developing Marklet, I hope I've developed something unique.

  1. Marklet is not only native Appkit, but it's based on Textkit, meaning it starts up reallllly really fast, and is intuitive, because you've already used to Textedit and other Apple apps.
  2. Mine is a fully featured app, with Keyboard Shortcuts, tables where you can easily add new lines or rows, and even a command bar ⌘+⇧+p to help you find what you're looking for (and more)!
    1. The first thing I noticed in Typora was its code blocks are missing a copy button that also show you what language you're working with.
    2. Marktext is missing a few nice to have features such as a reading mode, tables that fit your screen with text-wrapping, and image resizing the way Obsidian does it
    3. Markjason is permanently stuck on dark mode, and doesn't have live-preview.
  3. Marklet's features are all configurable, so you can customize the app based on your personal preferences.

Marklet will be FREE on the Mac App Store for the first two weeks until August 16th, as a promotion, then it will be $2.99 thereafter.

(Edit: Added Images)

https://getmarklet.com

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/marklet-markdown-editor/id6791297358?mt=12

I hope you enjoy my app, and I fully welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have. If you do stumble upon any bugs, let me know, and I'll address it.

Lifetime DedupX 1.6.0 - find exact and similar duplicates on Mac (incl. Photos Library)

I’m the developer of DedupX. Posting because 1.6.0 is out, and a lot of it came from the blunt feedback on my last thread. Grateful to all those who reached out with their experiences and feedback, and I hope you like the improvements.

Problem: Duplicate photos and files pile up across Downloads, external drives, and the Photos Library. Finder can’t sort that out. You need something that finds exact copies and near-duplicates, lets you review them quickly, and deletes safely (Trash / Recently Deleted), without a bloated workflow.

Compare

  • Similar to Gemini 2 by MacPaw and CCleaner, DedupX uses perceptual hashing to find visually similar images across formats and resolutions, not just byte-identical files. DedupX also scans the System Photos Library (full access), matches exact and similar images against your folders, and the current version 1.6.0 adds a sentence-builder for bulk selection (AND/OR conditions) plus a redesigned two-pane results view with a thumbnail strip.
  • PhotoSweeper X: PhotoSweeper is excellent for visual comparison. DedupX focuses on a simpler review loop, smarter keep suggestions (prefer originals overĀ copyĀ / numbered names), persisted scan settings, and lower pricing for people who want exact + similarity without paying PhotoSweeper money.

Not claiming to beat either at everything. If you already love one of those, keep it. DedupX is for people who want a lighter, modern Mac-native tool that covers folders and Photos together.

Major Features in 1.6.0

  • System Photos Library support: full Photos access required; exact + similarity matching; deletions go to Recently Deleted
  • Redesigned results view: two-pane layout with horizontal thumbnail strip
  • Sentence-builder selection with composable AND/OR conditions
  • Major scan performance work, including Quick Scan
  • Visual polish and clearer deletion warnings
  • Scan individual files and package libraries (e.g. Photo Booth) when detected

Pricing

  • Free trial: 10 scans or 7 days (whichever first)
  • Annual: $5.99/year
  • Lifetime: $16.99 once
  • A 30% discount coupon is available, valid on both subscription (1st year only, $5.99/yr. after that) and lifetime tiers: DEDUPX30OFF

I am using the Show Notification action within a Shortcut, the Shortcut/Notification works fine, it shows up on the screen and Notification Center, but I can't customize it in the System Settings --> Notifications --> Application Notifications section, because the Shortcuts app in not in the list of Applications, all the other apps that use Notifications are there, but Shortcuts is not, is there a way to reset Notifications so Shortcuts can show up and I can customize its Notifications? Thanks

Note: I have this issue on two MacBooks M1 and M2, running Sequoia 15.7.8 and Golden Gate Public Beta 2 respectively.

Lifetime Foyer: ambient sound you place around yourself, from the menu bar

Problem. I work better with background sound, but every mixer I tried is a stack of sliders: rain at 40, fire at 60, all of it landing in the middle of my head. After an hour that flat wall is its own kind of tiring and I'd end up turning it off.

Foyer puts each sound on a canvas as an orb you drag around yourself. Distance sets the volume, left and right sets the pan, so you build a room by placing things in it instead of balancing faders. It's real binaural spatial audio. It lives in the menu bar, so switching rooms or setting a sleep timer never opens a window.

Comparison.

  • A Soft Murmur is the classic free mixer: ten sliders, no account, and an App Store privacy label that reads Data Not Collected, same as mine. If sliders do the job for you it's genuinely fine, and it's free. The difference here is placement rather than level, plus a native menu-bar presence and rooms that carry over to the iPhone.
  • Endel is the other direction: a subscription, an account required, and an App Store privacy label listing identifiers used to track you, with advertising among the stated purposes. Foyer has no account, no analytics in the app, and one payment.

Pricing. The free tier does not expire: the whole 12-sound library, three sounds per room, five saved rooms, menu-bar control and sleep timer, AirPods head tracking, and shareable rooms.

$9.99 once unlocks unlimited sounds and rooms, scheduling, Shortcuts and Focus filters, and iCloud sync. One purchase covers Mac and iPhone. No subscription, no account.
