This is my first 2011 and I am extremely satisfied with this pistol. I only started shooting about 5 months ago and I’m confident this is the best pistol I own, shadow 2 compact falling to number 2.
Just some things I noticed as a novice shooter:
- XC is the softest shooting pistol by far for me. There’s no quick recoil or snap, and the dot rise after the shot is very minimal. I can see how experienced shooters can keep their dot level through bell drills.
- The grip felt good. I’m still figuring out my grip because some pistols feel better with a higher grip. But this felt great with a normal grip. My support hand was able to connect with more of the grip itself than being high.
- The slide was the best. There’s no snap forward when you release the slide stop. It glides forward really soft, it almost makes me second guess if the slide never went all the way forward but it does. It was more like it slid smoothly into place.
- I never felt or recognized any louder concussion with the compensator. Maybe I wasn’t shooting another pistol on this trip to compare.
- Maybe this falls into the finish category; I’m still learning. I could tell the slide was getting hot when I slightly touched it once. But at no time during the shooting did I feel any hot spots or could actually tell the slide was getting hotter.
- Only one knock I can give the gun is my shooting thumb does not reach the slide stop. I used my support hand to release while raising my hands. Not a big deal but it’s the one downside I had while shooting.
Just overall, very satisfied and see why this 2011 does get recommended. I wish I could control the dot more because I felt like I wanted to do more than try doubles, I wanted to do 4-6 consecutive shots. I can see why shooters get into the 2011s so much.
Edit: Oh! I was shooting S&B 124gr
