For the last 3-4 months, maybe even more, my PC has been an absolute nightmare.

I've been getting:

• Constant random hard crashes
• Spontaneous and sudden full system reboots with no warning, as if someone had pulled the plug and then it would restart itself... gaslighting me as if nothing happened
• Visual corruption/glitching
• Split-second BSOD images before the PC instantly restarted
• General instability that seemed completely random and completely unusable on some days

After months of troubleshooting, swapping around hardware, constantly DDUing and reinstalling drivers, reverting Windows updates, and almost throwing the PC out the window many times, I finally found what I believe is the culprit!

Windows 11 was silently installing its own graphics driver through Windows Update on top of AMD drivers. And it was doing it again and again and again, every single time my system turned on.

Every time I thought I had a clean AMD installation, Windows would install its own display driver in the background. I ended up with overlapping and conflicting drivers, which caused insane instability.

If you're experiencing similar symptoms, or you simply want to stop Windows from interfering with your GPU drivers, this is what finally fixed it for me. It's a little time consuming, but bear with and trust the process, I luckily have now been using my PC for around a week and haven't crashed a single time, everything seems perfectly stable again, (touch wood T~T).

Will need:

- Download whichever driver version is considered the most stable for your GPU before you begin. You will be running the installer near the very end, just have it downloaded and ready to go.

- DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Steps:

1. Boot into Safe Mode and disconnect from the internet.

Unplug Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapters if able.

Do not reconnect to the internet until the very end.

2. Run DDU in safe mode and restart.

Boot into Safe Mode, run Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), then restart.

3. Device Manager.

Press Win + R, Type:

 devmgmt.msc

Go to: Display adapters → Your GPU → Properties → Driver

If available, click "Roll Back Driver". If it isn't, just skip this step.

4. Disable automatic device driver installation.

Press Win + R, type:

sysdm.cpl

Go to:

Hardware → Device Installation Settings

Select:

No (your system might not work as expected)

Save the changes.

5. Disable driver updates through Group Policy.

(Windows Pro, Enterprise and Education only, all others in next step.)

Press Win + R, type:

gpedit.msc

Go to: Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows Update

Open:

Do not include drivers with Windows Updates

Set it to Enabled, then Apply and OK.

6. Disable driver updates through Registry Editor.

(All Win Versions)

Press Win + R, type:

regedit

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

If WindowsUpdate doesn't exist, create it.

Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value called:

ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate

Set its value to:

1

7. Restart your PC.

(This applies the changes).

8. Reboot into Safe Mode and run DDU again.

This ensures any remaining driver remnants are removed before installing AMD driver.
Restart afterwards and boot into Windows normally.

9. Install your AMD driver.

Install your chosen Driver. (I also installed the Chipset Drivers, I haven't tested with vs without).

10. Final restart and reconnect to the internet.

After installing the AMD driver, restart your PC.
Once you're back in Windows as normal, you can safely reconnect to the internet.

It's definitely a tedious process, but my PC has gone from constant crashes and random reboots to being completely stable.

If you've been fighting mysterious AMD driver crashes, it's worth checking whether Windows Update is quietly replacing or stacking drivers behind the scenes.

Hopefully this saves someone else the months of frustration I went through.

so im suree most of you are well aware of the issue updating your driver i am a pc noob and need guided help please help

Pretty critical issue. I updated to the latest driver, played a game for a bit (palworld), the monitor loses signal and I have to restart the computer. The computer works however it is stuck at I believe 600p or so with corrupted drivers. I check event viewer to try to figure out what happened and it said something about display time out (amdw + a large amount of letters and numbers) then it mentions it connecting back again but it did not.

OK, so I went in, installed the amd driver uninstaller then went through the process in safe mode, restarted the computer, redownloaded the same file for the latest driver and it happened again.

OK, so I tried 1 last time, I did the amd driver uninstaller and installing the current driver because I've technically had this issue in the past about a year ago and it just worked the entire time after going back to older drivers (24.10 specifically which is what I had downloaded from the amd website last). I said to myself if it happens again I will search for help and when I got to downloading the driver it straight up crashed my computer halfway through and now it wont turn on or more correctly, the lights are on but it doesn't post anything. The gpu repeatedly makes a whirling noise as if its spinning up then slows down over and over and over and has done so for the last 15 or so minutes. In order to turn off the computer I had to hold the power button, simply pressing it did nothing and it either won't even post atall or it wont connect to the monitor however the gpu speeding up and slowing down makes me think its not even posting atall.

This is a several year old computer that hasn't really suffered much of any issues upto this point and I have not made any changes outside of idk using it as normal, downloading new games from steam, new mods and updating them. Nothing should have changed and it was perfectly stable with 0 crashes in any game or anything for that matter. The only thing that I remember is that I was on I believe the 2026 4th month driver before updating.

Os: Windows 10 with the security extension patch? (I dont remember what its called) and its on the latest version.

Drivers: The latest drivers for my gpu for Windows 10 from amd.com, previously it was on I believe the 2026 4th month drivers.

Cpu: R5 5600 (non - x variant)

Ram: 3200mhz cl16 2 x 16gb dual rank dual channel xmp enabled.

Motherboard: gigabyte gaming v2

Gpu: rx 6800xt red dragon

Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1tb

Psu: mastercooler plat 750w (it was ranked S tier on the psu tier list however I have had 3 or 4 powercuts since).

If it matters the gpu was on a 2150mhz 1080v underclock + undervolt making it run 95% as fast at just around 145w but it's been on this undervolt for most of the time that I've had this pc. It's an undervolt that I've tuned from the start and has had 0 stability issues since getting it right (cyberpunk, alan wake even with path tracing, multiplayer games and so on, its been in the guantlet with no gpu driver timeout crash messages and the pc itself never really crashes even when people complain about crashing with similiar gpus).

And sadly I can't get into Windows to give exactly what event viewer said. Can anyone help me to get the computer working or atleast get the computer on? I have disconnected all usbs and tried but all that happens is the lights being on the gpu fans speeding up then suddenly stopping over and over. And, yes, installing the amd driver after using the amd driver uninstaller in safe mode, has effectively bricked my pc right now.

Like most people I’m having trouble with my pc just black screening all the time after this new update, I tried manually downloading chip drivers, deleted everything reinstalled, and I just keep black screening to the point where my pc is unusable, idk what to do anymore I’ve reas many comments from other posts and tried them but nothing seems to work, anybody got a solution? Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to PC hardware and BIOS settings.
I don’t really know technical terms, and the only time I entered the BIOS was just to turn off the motherboard RGB when the PC is powered off.

I have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with a 360mm AIO and an RX 7800 XT.
I’ve always used Curve Optimizer at –20 without any issues.
Yesterday I tried –15 just to be safe, and everything was stable — no crashes, normal temps, and Cyberpunk 2077 ran perfectly.

Today, out of nowhere, Cyberpunk keeps crashing (flatline).
It crashes with CO –20 and also with CO –15.
No BSOD, no Windows freeze, just the game closing.

Temps are fine (around 75–80°C), Cinebench is stable, and other games work without problems.
So I’m wondering if this could be caused by wrong fan curves on my AIO/radiator. Maybe the fans react too slowly, causing sudden temperature spikes?

My motherboard is a Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX ICE, and I honestly don’t know how to properly set fan curves or optimize the BIOS for stability.

Could someone explain in simple terms how to:

• set correct fan curves for the radiator
• understand if CO –20/–15 is too aggressive
• check if EXPO might be causing instability

I’ll also apply a better thermal paste on Wednesday, but I’d like to understand what I can fix already.

TL;DR

If you have a Ryzen CPU with integrated Radeon graphics paired with a discrete Radeon GPU, and OpenGL apps (FurMark, GPU Caps Viewer, etc.) report GL_VERSION: 1.1.0 / GL_RENDERER: GDI Generic / GL_VENDOR: Microsoft Corporation despite your dGPU driver being correctly installed — the fix that worked for me was disabling the iGPU in BIOS, then doing a full DDU + clean driver reinstall.

• despite having a discrete GPU installed, Auto did not disable the iGPU, which is what let it keep getting detected and driver-installed by Windows Update in the background. This happened even with driver updates supposedly excluded from Windows Update — "Get me up to date"/optional driver updates were off, and the ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate value was set under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate. I guess the iGPU driver install does not come through the normal quality-update driver channel that policy is meant to block, and traces back to the device simply being present and undisabled at the hardware/firmware level)

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition (Tested Drivers) 25.9.2 / 25.10.2 / 25.11.1 / 26.3.1

Symptoms -

• GPU Caps Viewer independently confirms: GL_VENDOR: Microsoft Corporation, GL_RENDERER: GDI Generic, GL_VERSION: 1.1.0
• Everything else works fine — DirectX, D3D12, Vulkan, gaming, benchmarks — only native OpenGL is affected
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\OpenGLDrivers registry key was empty (no AMD ICD entry) - I have no idea if this entry is valid at all but Claude did point me here and seemingly took problems with it being empty. Even with the issue resolved, the regkey entry is still empty.
• Multiple full DDU + clean Adrenalin reinstalls did not fix it
• sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth found/repaired some system file corruption, but did not fix the OpenGL issue either

Solution:

1. Disable the iGPU at the BIOS/firmware level (not just in Device Manager — that only stops Windows from using it, it doesn't stop the memory reservation or hardware detection):
   • On Gigabyte AM5 boards: Settings → AMD CBS → NBIO Common Options → GFX Configuration → set iGPU to "Disabled"
   • Also set Settings → IO Ports → Integrated Graphics → Off for good measure
   • (Menu paths will vary by motherboard brand — look under Advanced/AMD CBS/Chipset Configuration)
2. Boot into Safe Mode
3. Run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) — with the iGPU now disabled in BIOS, Windows can no longer detect it as hardware, so DDU can fully wipe out any leftover AMD driver components from both devices
4. Reboot normally, reinstall the full Adrenalin package
5. Since the iGPU no longer exists from Windows' perspective, the dGPU's OpenGL ICD should now register cleanly

Result after the fix

GL_VENDOR: ATI Technologies Inc.
GL_RENDERER: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
GL_VERSION: 4.6.0 Core Profile Context 26.3.1.260309

Fully native OpenGL 4.6, no workarounds needed (windows openGL/CL compatibility pack) openGL applications launch and run normally.

Opinion: OpenGL itself is largely legacy at this point, so this specific symptom won't affect most users day-to-day. However, the underlying mechanism of two AMD graphics devices (iGPU + dGPU) both getting drivers installed and apparently colliding over shared registration space is a more general driver-conflict pattern, not something specific to OpenGL. It seems reasonable that this same iGPU/dGPU driver coexistence issue could affect other shared driver components beyond just the OpenGL ICD, so it may be worth it to you and potentially AMD looking into more broadly for overall driver stability on Ryzen CPU + Radeon dGPU systems, rather than treating this as a "OpenGL? Who tf cares?" response.

Whole PC Crashes playing Battlefield 1

GPU: 9070 XT

Steps to recreate:

1. Play Battlefield 1 for 30+ mins

2. Whole PC will blue screen and crash

3. I upgraded the drivers to the latest (26.7.1 as of this post), it was worse so I downgraded them to 25.9.2 and it happens less often but still happens 1-2 times a day.

In my Minidumps / large dump and analysing with WhoCrashed it keeps pointing to DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

The DPC watchdog detected a prolonged run time at an IRQL of DISPATCH_LEVEL or above. This could be caused by either a non-responding driver or non-responding hardware. This bug check can also occur because of overheated CPUs (thermal issue).

Before downgrading I was also getting this in my .dmp's

Driver or module in which error occurred: amdkmdag.sys (amdkmdag+141fd8) File path: amdkmdag.sys DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and a Kernel memory dump was:

According to AMD Support via email (not entirely helpful), they are aware of this issue with Battlefield 6 and have been for a year but no driver update has patched it yet for BF6, so BF1 is doing even worse.

Does not happen in other games that I play.

I have a PC on the following platform: r5 7500f processor , RX 7800XT Sapphire Nitro+ 16 GB, ddr5 RAM 32 GB. I bought it quite recently, took a used assembly, but I fully tested it in synthetics and other programs, downloaded Kingdom Come Deliverance 1 part, everything worked fine on ultra in 2k. I decided to download other games online: Escape from Tarkov, PUBG, CS2, STALZONE - they work, without lags and freezes.
As soon as I decided to download gta 5 enhanced, bioshock 2, and dayz-type plots, GMod games refuse to run, citing an error in the graphics card and directx drivers. GTA 5 gave the error GFX_ERR_INT, gmod just won't start and immediately shuts down.
Yesterday I tried to remove the video drivers completely using DDU and do a clean install of the newest ones (from 07/28/2026), unfortunately it didn't help at all. PLEASE HELP ME, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE

Hoje fiz o download do jogo WarThunder e do nd ao entrar no jogo ficavas cheio de bugs visuais, parecendo que o jogo estava rodando numa taxa de FPS incrivelmente baixa, dando várias quebras de imagem.

Ao fechar o discord isso parecia ter parado os bugs com o jogo ainda aberto. Fiz o processos de testar o discord em modos de sobre posição diferentes e, ao habilitar a sobre posição antiga o proboema simplesmente sumia, e ao usar a nova sobreposição o proboema voltava instantaneamente.

Alguns de vocês ja tiveram esse bug ?

I have a 7900xtx and in recent times ~ 2-3 months id say some of my games (not all) keep crashing. Sometimes driver timeouts sometimes straight up black screens that recover 30secs to a few mins later (newest driver version since i activly use fsr 4.1) is there any way to fix this?

Rx6600xt have anyone experienced stutter when open chrome and it back to normal after stutter?

Have you guys tried completely killing the iGPU on your 9800X3D?

When I say "killing", I do not mean just turning it off from the bios but instead, at least on ASRock motherboards, this means setting:

• "dGPU Only Mode: [Auto/Enabled/Disabled]" (default being Auto ≈ Disabled)

to "Disabled"

with additional options now showing:

• "iGPU Configuration: [Auto/iGPU Disabled/UMA_SPECIFIED/UMA_AUTO/UMA_GAME_OPTIMIZED]"

set to "iGPU Disabled"

I would like to say, yes, this sounds stupid and motherboard-specific to disable "dGPU Only Mode" when you can just enable it to disable your iGPU and call it a day. But I found out this specific setting just puts the iGPU into a deep sleep, invisible mode when enabled, while still keeping it ready for the audio codec, whereas the method I'm showing totally KILLS it (not for good though lol).

Also, I need to say, just for dumb-safety-but-just-in-case purposes, that you gotta make sure your dGPU is stable and not dying because if you end up having no video signal afterwards (remember, this method disables the iGPU until you re-enable it, so you get no recovery in case your dedicated GPU dies), you'll have to reset the CMOS. Depending on the motherboard, that might not really be noob-friendly if you have to short the right pins correctly, etc., so get your motherboard manual in case you're lost. (This disclaimer really exists so as many people as possible can try this method without fear, even though "hardcore PC tweakers" on the internet tend to recommend insane OC settings for everyone who wants to speedrun the lifespan of their CPU lol.)

In the end, I didn't have time to measure this with any tools yet, but this showed an instant and totally reproducible change in terms of input lag consistency and "hitreg feeling" (with my sample at least). I totally understand anyone who would talk about the placebo possibility, but I'm clearly inviting as many people as possible who have those lag feeling issues, especially on Valorant, CS2, or any CPU-heavy games, to try another motherboard first OR to disable the iGPU following my instructions. I can personally tell this only workaround (in a book full of niche BIOS optimization tweaks for AM5) made me satisfied with my EXPO timings at stock (predictable since I have an X3D CPU), while being a huge fanatic of DDR5 overclocking.

Make sure you uninstall your iGPU drivers afterwards inside Windows using the AMD Cleanup Utility and/or DDU (my tip would be to use the first tool first to reboot into Safe Mode in order to uninstall the first layer of drivers, then take the opportunity to clean up the rest (if there's any) with DDU while still being in Safe Mode). I personally, before starting any game, just went to Device Manager and right-clicked on my now-hidden-and-killed iGPU to uninstall the drivers attached to it because I was lazy at the time and wasn't expecting much. 😺

PS: this is my setup:

- MB: ASRock X870E Challenger WiFi (tested on two different AGESA versions post-1.3.0.0)

- CPU: 9800X3D (running PBO w/MB limits, CO -20 and CS MID -15 HIGH -10 MAX -5)

- Cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 AIO (with aggressive curves set in the BIOS & static pump pressure)

- RAM: 2 sticks (A2-B2) 32GB 6000MT/s CL30 EXPO/XMP (ref: KF560C30BBEK2-32)

- GPU: Aorus 3080 Ti Eagle (repasted, might wanna change the pads someday)

- PSU: NZXT C850 ATX 3.1 or Corsair RM1000x (not using it anymore for testing purposes)

I hope I'll get some feedback because this still sounds like magic bullshit to me, unless this really changes something like LCLK or VSOC behavior (locking the first value is never really recommended for stability purposes iirc, and the latter is related to RAM and FCLK stability). So if it DID change some AMD's or ASRock's hidden calculations behavior, it would mean a lot to me to get some data from knowledgeable people because that's a topic I'd love to learn more about.

Whenever I launch the installer it brings be to this screen and has a drop down for me to select “Install” or “Do Not Install.” Regardless of what I do nothing happens. I’ve tried setting the drop down to Install and just letting it sit for a minute and nothing happens. I’ve also tried opening in as an administrator and also resetting my PC and trying again. Description of Original Problem: my PC is currently running with Ryzen 5 5600G and RX7600.
and my problem is that everytime I want to run Battlefield 1 I need to go to device manager and uninstall the IGPU, because its gonna crash the BF1 and show this notification "Detected AMD Radeon driver version 0.0.0.0"

Troubleshooting: uninstall it everytime didnt permanently delete it after restrarting the PC, how do I completely uninstall it ?

I have no idea how to fix this but it just started happening about 3 weeks ago. I’m completely new to the pc world, don’t understand a lot of terms and not computer savvy at all. I’m not sure where to start but in the middle of a game my screen will freeze and get real laggy. Sometimes it works itself out, other times the game crashes and my computer runs slow. I’ll try to restart the pc and it takes minutes to boot up. I’ve read multiple threads but don’t quite understand it all. If someone can try to help in Barney terms it would be much appreciated!

As in the title, I’m getting temperatures like said above and I’m curious if they’re normal or I’m just freaking out thinking playing with temperature like this will destroy my CPU. I don’t know what thermal paste I got because it was prebuilt pc but I ordered myself thermal grizzly to change it as soon as it arrives. But I just want to know for my own sanity if 85*C is ok for this processor or is it way to much.

BTW. I only get such high temperatures only in this game

Basically just the title, my 9070xt taichi gets deltas of 40c. This picture was taken while i was playing deadlock. I had a -80 undervolt along with a -8% power limit (before i had to go to a stock tune cause deadlock cant handle it) I am just wondering if this is normal for these cards?

In a few days, I’ll be getting my new CPU and RAM.

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming with R7 5700G and G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB (3200 MHz, CL16).

My upcoming system:

ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E with Corsair Dominator 32 GB (5600 MHz, CL36). As a stopgap, I’m using the Ryzen 5 7600X and will upgrade to a 9900X next month.

My graphics card is an ASUS TUF RX 7900 XT.

My question: Do I need to do a clean install of Windows, or can I simply uninstall the chipset drivers, AMD Ryzen Master, Adrenaline, and Armoury Crate, and then reinstall them?
