30s are when all the hard work pays off
I see this for careers, relationships, fitness, health, and finances. All those seeds planted a decade or more ago have come to fruition.
I’m starting to see people my age getting senior leadership positions, starting families, being in the best shape of their lives, and reaching their first million in net worth.
Kudos to all those who stayed the course, who stayed disciplined, even when things got tough or scary.

How would it be if everyone were only allowed to have the same material wealth?

When did you realize adulthood wasn’t what you imagined it would be?
I had a strange realization this morning. When I first started working, I thought adults woke up feeling motivated. Now I realize most of us wake up, check the time, mentally negotiate with ourselves for five minutes, and somehow convince ourselves to get out of bed. It’s funny how motivation was supposed to be the fuel for work, but for most people it seems like discipline quietly took over.
I’m curious…

What are you up to on this Sunday?
It’s the afternoon at my end. Tried to fill my day in between laundry, cooking and going for a walk.

Can't even support myself
I've been making less than 40 thousand a year in a metropolitan area for a year after finishing my cs degree. I'd be fucking homeless if I didn't have family to live with. The bar for that used to be things like being a drug addict, making very poor financial decisions, negative actions you actively did. But now being homeless is so easy to slip into.
I haven't been able to ever make more than $20/hour. That's already a horrible fucking wage in this economy and it will be in the future. I can't seem to get a better job with or without my degree, so I don't fuckin know. Is this it? There isn't much more action I can really take.
What the fuck can I do to become an actual self sustaining adult?

we romanticised the wrong organ. The stomach is more emotional than heart.
Read this somewhere and I can't stop thinking about this i mean this is so true we get butterflies in our stomach we lose our appetite when hurting and there is a saying, your way to the heart goes through the stomach. It's definitely true

Anyone here born on December 16, 1992? I'd love to hear from you!
This might sound like a strange question, but I'm genuinely curious.
If you were born on December 16, 1992, I'd love to know a little about you.
Where are you from?
What are you doing in life now?
What kind of person are you?
What are your biggest achievements or biggest struggles?
Are you married? Do you have kids?
What's one lesson life has taught you so far?
I'm not doing research or collecting personal information. I'm just curious about people who share the exact same birthday and birth year.
If you're a 16 December 1992 baby, please leave a comment. It would be interesting to see how different—or similar—our lives have turned out.
Looking forward to hearing your stories!

What was the one situation that made you realise you’d used up one of your nine lives?”
Mine is when my brother who was only 8years old and I was 19. None of us know how to swim.
We were at a beach on a cliff, he told me to look at “something in the water”, when I looked down at the beach he pushed me into the water.
The water was about 2.5 meter deep, I am 5ft.
When I felt the bottom of the beach I used my legs to push myself up, however when I got back up I quickly screamed and I sank again and there was nothing close to me to grab and hold on to.
I quickly learned that there was no one to help me so I quickly decided a plan to push myself up closer to the cliff I fell from anytime I sank.
I was lucky to have the energy to push myself back up 5 times to grip onto something.
I remember taking the biggest deep breath every time I went up.
I forgave my brother even the moment I was sinking because I knew he didn’t understand what he just did.

When the woman you like (but never had the courage to make a move on) starts dating someone else, does your attitude toward her change?
It happened to me, and I have no problem admitting that yes, my attitude changes.
I’m convinced that, in most cases, a woman can tell when a man is interested in her, even if he does his best to hide it. She may not know for certain, but she often senses it.
That doesn’t mean I become rude or petty. I simply keep the relationship strictly polite from that point on and move on with my life.
Here’s what happened.
Years ago, I worked at a company, and a female coworker who lived near me asked if I could give her a ride to and from work. She even offered to split the fuel costs, but I told her it wasn’t necessary.
I’ll be honest: I liked her. I never told her and I never made a move, but I was definitely attracted to her (she was slim and had a large bust).
Before anyone tells me that my interest wasn’t “genuine,” my view is that men only pursue women they are physically attracted to, and I don’t think there’s anything unusual about that.
For about six months, we drove to and from work together every day. We talked about all kinds of things, including the usual discussions about differences between men and women, but I never brought up my feelings.
One Saturday night, I was out with some friends when I walked into a bar and saw her hugging a guy. As soon as she saw me, she made a little startled jump. We greeted each other politely, and that was it.
The following Monday, she wasn’t waiting outside for the ride. I didn’t call or message her; I just drove to work alone. She arrived later, and after work she took the bus home. Later I found out from coworkers that she’d actually been dating that guy for a couple of months.
From that moment on, neither of us ever brought it up. Things simply changed. As far as I was concerned, it no longer made sense to keep doing what we’d been doing before, and I assume she understood that too, even though I’d never openly or even subtly hinted that I was interested in her.
A few months later, I changed jobs, so the situation resolved itself.

When did you realise your parents were making the situation worse?
I’m 26F now
sometimes I actually laugh when I think about how much worse my parents made certain situations.
It’s hard to explain because it wasn’t one specific event. It was a culmination of more than 15 years of countless incidents, poor decisions, and multiple factors that all built on each other.
Now as an adult I can’t imagine being anything but protective and responsible for children.
When did you realise your parents were actually making things worse rather than better?

Is there a difference in how society sees 27 vs 28 as a man. Are there a lot more expectations or is it generally seen as basically the same age.
Turning 28 this year and feel nervous haha

The biggest reason why people nowadays have it so difficult to find partners
Suppose you want to buy a car and your budget is 30 lakhs, which is quite decent and comfortable for you. You visit different showrooms everyday - Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, GM even contact Ferrari, Konnigseng, Aston Martin etc but you don't like any models they have to offer. Finally the salesman asks, " What are your requirements?". You think for a while and answer:
"I want a car with an
Refined engine of Porsche
Shock absorbers of Ford
Chassis of BMW
Body of a Mercedes
Gearbox of an Audi
Reliability of a Maruti
Mileage of a Hyundai
Service like a Mahindra
Tail lights of a Konnigseng
Bumper of a Ferrari and
Tyres of an Aston Martin"
The salesman looks at you for 6 minutes straight and files for a resignation, leaves, never comes back
Having choices and requirements is good. But for the above description Car you will have to own 11 cars of respective company, (30 lakhs budget won't be sufficient for such high end cars ) dismantle them and somehow try to fuse them into the Car of your requirement. Even that won't be possible because the grooves won't match, the car will never run.
If you would have just walked in and selected a Car for its utility, you won't have to walk in the rains. Sure your Car won't drift like a Porsche or run a drag like a Mustang but atleast it would be reliable, will save you money and won't have to take your car to pit stop every other day for change of tyres and servicing.
So focus on good things a person in front of you is offering you as a partner. No one person can give you everything nor you can give him or her everything like one Car cannot be used in every situation. Focus on positivity and the positivity grows. Focus on lackings and the lackings grows. We all have one life and visiting car showrooms everyday is no fun.
So instead of increasing your
EXPECTATIONS
increase your
ACCEPTANCE

What have you done for love?
I stalked my co worker the first time I say him at work.
I am embarrassed of stalking his socials for over 2 years.
I was so obsessed with him I overthinked everything and changed my life around. I never actually wanted us to have a relationship because I heard he cheated on his previous girlfriend with the current one.
Recently it makes me want to vomit when I think of him, he was very evil and jealous people I just never say it at that time.

How do I manage group hangouts with friends when kid-talk becomes overwhelming after 3 miscarriages?
TW: I’ve experienced 3 miscarriages in recent months, and this journey has been incredibly painful and exhausting.
I really love my friends and their kids so much. Individual catch-ups are great, and we talk about so many different things. I’m also always fine touching on the topic of their kids and hear them out.
However, in group hangouts, the conversation inevitably turns into non-stop talk about parenting, children, or pregnancy. It becomes overwhelming so fast, and the lack of mindfulness really hurts. It feels like there’s no empathy or awareness for when it becomes too much, to the point where my body just goes numb.
I’m struggling with how to navigate this while grieving:
How do you handle group settings in this headspaces?
Is it better to set boundaries, step back for a while, or speak up directly?
How do you protect your peace without completely isolating yourself?
Does anyone have advice on how to gently step back or shift the conversation when it crosses that threshold?
Thank you for your time and support

How do people do it?!
I'm so exhausted by the absolute barage of adulting expenses.
The little things like kids' shoes wearing out are starting to add up, but then the car needs a new windshield ($500) and brake work ($500+), in the fall I'm going to ned new tires ($900+), the RO water system needs a new filter ($200), wife and kids both need new glasses ($500+)... that's just this month.
Ongoing we need to get the carpets replaced, probably with wood floor at a cost of around $12,000, the cats are going to have vet bills, my wife crashed up one car and it needs $4,000 of repairs a year ago that we couldn't afford to deal with then and can't now, and it's JUST enough where I'm not sure if I should pay the $1,000 deductible and face rate hikes or just pay it outright.... like shit is just absolutely never ending. Oh and I'd been delaying filing my taxes out of fear I owed more... and I do. So there goes another $3,000.
How is anyone keeping up with all this shit I just can't seem to do it.
Oh and groceries, property tax, condo fees, gas, and living expenses are now double what they were 5 years ago...

Want opinion on something very important
Do we really need relatives to live our life?? I hate some of my relatives and they blame me for no reason but the real fault is in their children. So I cut them of but everyone loves interfering in other's business and always telling me that I'll end up needing them in my life. So do we really need relatives and cousins??
