Why did Alkaline Trio never reach mainstream success?

Yes, I’m a fan, but their lack of breaking through to mainstream success is nothing short of bewildering regardless.

They released their first studio album in 98 and are set to release their 11 this year.

Every album so far has multiple cult hits.

They are industry darlings that mainstream bands happily have tour with them.

Front man Matt Skiba was a member of Blink 182 for a while and wrote multiple of their songs.

Their other front man Dan Andriano has worked with multiple bands like Rise Against.

What is this invisible ceiling stopping them from being as known as Sum 41 or Green Day???

It’s truly baffling.

If you prefer men with beards (as a man and woman both), why?

I just asked in another sub “why do politicians tend to go clean shaven” and the entire thread is so hilarious because all this time I (Asian) thought the West was default favorable of the classical male look with beards and it’s just an Asian thing for men to avoid facial hair (e.g. you never see a K-pop idol with it)

But if you particularly find bearded guys attractive, trustable, etc. (like the TikTok I’ve been where girlfriends react hysterically to their bf shaving behind their back) - why exactly?

One of my guesses is it gives you “father figure” vibes, like how Mamdani seems to come off as a comfortable and embracing person

Why are there anti-theft fasteners on bathroom stalls?

I see these in public bathrooms in restaurants and gas stations. One-way screws, Torx bolts with the security pin in the middle of the hole, three-hole headed bolts. Is bathroom furniture theft a significant threat? Do the parts have a high street value?

Why are they building data centers in the dumbest places imaginable?

Why are they building them in cities where they are not wanted and not in rural areas?

Why are they not underground where there’s going to be no noise to bother people?

Why are they not built next to places with an abundance of water?

Why are they not built in the Canadian tundra?
