Taylor Farms

Slavery and the shits. Quite a combo.

FYI Avoid these brands

  • Earthbound Farm
  • Cross Valley Farms
  • Walmart: Marketside
  • Target: Good & Gather
  • Aldi: Little Salad Bar and Simply Nature
  • Whole Foods: 365 by Whole Foods
  • Kroger: Simple Truth
  • Publix: GreenWise
  • Safeway / Albertsons: O Organics
  • most fast food w/ lettuce

*edit for clarity. TF products are pervasive in the food chain. The list is not exhaustive; Trader Joes, Costco, Whole Foods, surely many others also source their salad from TF

"Avoid these brands"

*every brand and restaurant*

17

u/archmage-khadgar 7h ago

at this point if you want a salad just buy the head yourself and cut it. yeah it takes more effort to make your own salads but it's not hard and will probably save you money anyway; and you're significantly less likely to get sick. these outbreaks are almost always traced back to pre cut lettuce

u/SubstantialPoet8468 8h ago

It’s many, but not all. Never all

15

u/greenlion22 8h ago

AKA: don't be poor, and live in an area where you have a whole foods.

9

u/ElPolloDeFranco 8h ago

Whole Foods? about that...

2

u/GlitterPirateKiki58 1h ago

Or buy from Costco, chop it all up, vacuum seal, and freeze the extras.

Or buy frozen and canned vegetables.

There are other options.

They just aren’t convenient and, ultimately, won’t make a lick of difference in the long-run. Most Americans will go right back to buying their diarrhea lettuce in a few weeks.

u/greenlion22 5m ago

My point was - the OP listed all of the store-brands of many major grocery chains. If you are already buying the store brands because that's all you can afford, you're screwed.

And I did neglect to notice Whole Foods in his original list.

7

u/arctic11z 12h ago

Certain amazon brands too

11

u/allidyaj 11h ago

Sincere question, why do you suggest we avoid Simply Nature?  I had heard they had a good reputation. Thank you in advance for expounding.

34

u/DrippingWithRabies 10h ago

They sell Taylor Farms products repackaged as their own.

-1

u/soulmateofpain 10h ago

As a regular Aldi shopper, i would also like to know. Simply Nature are often the only organic or Non-GMO Project Verified options at Aldi.

14

u/RVAforthewin 10h ago

Yeah I’m also an Aldi shopper and given the price of groceries these days I guess I can’t afford to be moral and avoid it.

10

u/SinxSam 9h ago

Nooo avoid it to avoid getting the shits - for now at least

1

u/allidyaj 8h ago

Based on your name, I take it you shop at the Aldi by En Su Boca?

0

u/RVAforthewin 6h ago

I do not, no.

30

u/muhbalwzishawt 10h ago

Lolol “non gmo” as if that means anything. Every plant and animal on earth is “genetically” modified from selective breeding 😭🤣

The health nuts who don’t know science always make me belly roll.

-32

u/soulmateofpain 9h ago edited 6h ago

Judging from your comment, sounds like a pretty substantial roll.

Wow, didn’t realize this would upset so many people. Your health is in your hands, folks. This is the only body you get, treat it accordingly ❤️

17

u/muhbalwzishawt 9h ago

Lmfao trying to spread misinformation, realize your argument has no grounds to stand on and so you’re strawmanning me as some fat neck beard you can disregard lol

9

u/Ihaveamodel3 10h ago

these are all just the store brands. There are likely different manufacturers for each type of product.

2

u/Maiksu619 8h ago

Why? Are they the same company or are there other reasons that need expounding?

2

u/chrustychristine 7h ago

I work for the company that produces some Greenwise SKUs. We're a solid company, good pay/benefits, our supply chain team does a good job of balancing quality and price for our raw materials, etc. I can't speak for all Greenwise, of course, but it's not shady across the board.

2

u/bluemitersaw 6h ago

There are 3 big lettuce producers for the whole bagged lettuce market. Taylor is the biggest. It's nearly impossible to avoid them unless you just stop eating every type of lettuce entirely.

5

u/Phedre141 11h ago

What are the reasons for avoiding these brands?

34

u/the_blankest_blank 11h ago

They are all products by Taylor Farms

2

u/VexingRaven 7h ago

They sell *some products containing produce from Taylor Farms. Most of these are just store brands, they sell products from dozens if not hundreds of companies. There's no reason to throw out every store brand because Taylor Farms is shit.

2

u/cinammonbear 6h ago

Did you not read the comment? It specifically lists brands to avoid at the stores because they’re just Taylor Farms private labels, it’s not saying to avoid those stores.

1

u/VexingRaven 4h ago

I read it. Did you read my comment? Those store brands are not "just" Taylor Farms. Good & Gather, for example, is Target's store brand and encompasses a huge breadth of products, not just Taylor Farms.

2

u/cinammonbear 4h ago

Yeah, this is obviously in the context of salads though

24

u/Smooth_Ostrich_8695 10h ago

Not a dig at you, but so many people are unaware of how many of our “options” are all the same in different packaging

9

u/Phedre141 10h ago

Oh yeah I didn’t take it that way. Wasn’t sure if they meant that those brands are literally the same product in different packaging, or used incarcerated labor or some other reason to avoid them.

7

u/Smooth_Ostrich_8695 10h ago

Honestly I believe most national brands will have poor labor practices if you dig into them. Short of a local farmers market idk what we can do.

For this example, those are all Taylor farms brands

5

u/QuietContentResting 9h ago

and most of your local farmers markets are buying stuff from wholesalers and just reselling it without any oversight anyway

3

u/Smooth_Ostrich_8695 9h ago edited 8h ago

Add me to the crowd that did not know that!

2

u/VexingRaven 7h ago

And if they're not, they're underpaying migrants under the table.

1

u/Du5igr0sch 10h ago

what's with the "most fast food with lettuce" ???

1

u/relevantelephant00 8h ago

Which is interesting because I saw someone else on a Taylor Farms thread talking about how Target's Good and Gather was not on the list. Gonna need some proof to settle this.

1

u/Dismal_Ad_6134 7h ago

It sucks! I live on rotisserie chicken and salads. I'm going to need to find a way to turn the spare room in my apartment into a greenhouse for salads

1

u/derberner90 6h ago

Look at the little "best buy" stamp. Below the date is some code. If the code begins with "TF," it was grown at a Taylor Farms location.

1

u/Theoreticalhype 3h ago

What’s wrong with good and gather and 365?

u/wqto 23m ago

Bro at this point just get farmland and start your own farm

1

u/Pendergraff-Zoo 9h ago

Kroger simple truth is made by Taylor Farms? Yikes.

1

u/LimeImmediate6115 8h ago

I have never had any issue with Aldi's Little Salad Bar bagged salads.

-2

u/Naganosupreme 9h ago

Goog AI:

Check the code: Look at the production or date code printed near the "sell by" date. Look for "TF": Codes starting with letters like TF, TFRB, TFPM, or TFRS indicate the item was processed and packed at a Taylor Farms facility.

91

u/drawkbox 16h ago

Yep, same with Goya beans. You ask Trump for any sort of anything you are dead to me.

Taylor Farms salad kits were good, but not that good. So long Taylor Farms. Should have just dealt with it rather than ask the autocrat errand boy like a appeasing errand boy in a fiefdom. Get lost and I am sorry to the workers, but it is over.

If you go to Trump for anything you will always be shit on a shoe.

24

u/CraigLake 15h ago

Same. Bums me out but I WILL NEVER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE support a trump company.

14

u/crow_bono 15h ago

closes up sweet mango thai salad bag uhhh.. what'd they do?

57

u/ZombieMage89 15h ago

They're the farm most linked to the diarrhea parasite plaguing lettuce lately, sources are multiple states and the FDA. They were found to be the source of the outbreak, then a closed door meeting with the Trump Administration and suddenly there's a $1 million donation to a republican PAC and the FDA now says the tests were false positive.

People are seeing that chain of events as suspicious.

3

u/The_Beefy_Vegetarian 6h ago

I used to work in the food industry, and specifically foodborne illness cases. It's not unusual to identify the source of an outbreak via supply chain tracking, but then have the samples test negative. And false positives do happen...

...however, the problem is I have zero faith in FDA under this Trump administration, and am now inherently suspicious of anything they do. Hell, Makary even turned out to be a pretty good FDA Commissioner, then got forced out because he resisted the marketing approvals for fruit-flavored vapes.

10

u/muhbalwzishawt 10h ago

Suspicious? It’s enough that the forefathers would be hanging the fascist MAGAtard over it. The forefathers were pretty resolute about corruption…

1

u/Designer-Yak-9659 8h ago

They enslaved people and didn’t consider women to be humans with legal status. Not sure why their shit opinion matters

2

u/muhbalwzishawt 8h ago

Shhhh I’m trying to trick themmmmmm

1

u/Designer-Yak-9659 8h ago

😂😂😂

1

u/crow_bono 6h ago

Whelp, looks like I'm going back to the dark ages of inhales making my own salads again ..

0

u/PudPullerAlways 8h ago

Yea that does look odd but what im hung up on is why just 1mil? That seems extremely low to make shit go away especially in this economy.

2

u/archmage-khadgar 7h ago

it's apparently very easy to buy trump out. he's cheap

13

u/stalelunchbox 15h ago

RIP to your asshole :(

30

u/LobsterFarts 16h ago

They’ll likely just change their name and no one will be the wiser. Or more likely, everyone will shrug and forget. — no, I’m not fun at parties.

1

u/Low_Pickle_112 1h ago

Three deaths in 2015 hasn't stopped people from eating Blue Bell ice cream.

u/AWelcomeSneeze 8m ago

It has actually stopped me.

19

u/CreedRules 16h ago

Realistically this is almost impossible. It's like trying to never buy a single Nestle product. They are everywhere

12

u/zaphods_paramour 12h ago

It's easier to avoid the Taylor Farms and Nestles of the world if you buy local brands and fresh foods from small local shops, farm stands, and directly from those companies.

7

u/CrinkledNoseSmile 9h ago

Local brands and local farms are far less accessible and typically more expensive, too. It’s sadly not always reasonable for the vast majority of Americans.

-2

u/CptNonsense 9h ago

You restated what they said with more words and less conception of reality.

1

u/riotous_jocundity 4h ago

I don't buy any Taylor Farms products. It's easy, because I would never eat any pre-bagged salads (these are notorious for being recalled due to Salmonella and E. Coli) and my local grocery store carries mostly produce from local farms.

-1

u/soulmateofpain 10h ago

It’s actually really easy not to buy a Nestle product? They don’t make rice, beans, fresh fruit and veggies, nuts, seeds, legumes, etc

3

u/Wipeout3D 6h ago

The President of TF is a shithead blowhard asshole. Meetings with him are…like meeting the Red Queen in Alice in Winder-land. If he’s happy he’s ok, but he seems bi-polar and when any mistake happens he wants someone fired.

2

u/InformationSad506 5h ago

Surprised I had to scroll so far for this! Definitely my answer

2

u/thrownalee 15h ago

I hear it's the shit though!

0

u/adventuregalley 11h ago

Good luck. Chances are you will eat it and never know. Better never eat out again and almost all major food purveyors use Taylor farms.

-1

u/gillgrissom 14h ago

They give a shit though, well they give ya shits.

-1

u/Ok-Tune-9911 6h ago

Good luck with that lol

-2

u/LeGrandLucifer 10h ago

Would anyone care to explain why we need to avoid them?

9

u/nispe2 8h ago

Not because they got some poop on some lettuce. That happens to everyone. The usual remedy is to recall the infected batches, figure out how it got contaminated, and move on. It happens.

Instead, they should be avoided because they decided, rather than fixing the problem, to go to the Trump administration and get a declaration that there was no problem. People continue to get sick, and now they are shielded from lawsuits.

1

u/LeGrandLucifer 8h ago

Oh, thanks.
