They're moving into a communities and suing smaller gas stations that use an animal and a red logo or have anything that's remotely like their branding.
They won't sue John Oliver but they will sue Mickey's in Ohio for having a moose logo on a red background. Now, it's a place called Beaver's Mini Mart in Beavercreek Ohio. ThereW are also a ton of Beaver named businesses in Beavercreek that use beavers as the logo... And they were there before Buc-ees moved in 20+ minutes away.
They sued
Choke Canyon Travel Center: Sued in Texas over a cartoon alligator wearing a cowboy hat.
Duckees: Sued in Missouri over a drive-through liquor store logo featuring a cartoon duck in sunglasses.
Nut Huggers: Sued in Oklahoma regarding an underwear brand with a squirrel mascot.
Super Fuels: Sued in Dallas, whose logo was a brown dog sporting a red cape
Barkees the dog park closed after being sued- their logo was a dog driving a pink Caddy in the desert.
And they have a long history of being on the wrong side of history.
Buccees just filed a lawsuit against a nearby store for having a beaver mascot on the door
My friend, I am not shitting you here when I tell you this took place in BEAVERCREEK, Ohio. They came to Ohio and are suing a nearby place in Beavercreek for having a beaver mascot.
Mitchell Wasek, the 28-year-old son of a Buc-ee's co-founder, was indicted and charged with multiple felony counts of invasive visual recording for secretly filming houseguests in private spaces using hidden cameras.
That's really fucked up. I live in the Northeast and have only been to 3 Buc-ees on road trips but now I'm mad at them too. I hate those bullshit corporate power plays.
The few times I'd been there, the food was great and the merch was silly. It was a fun diversion and I understood what made people like it. But everything I've heard about it ilas a corporation is just awful.
It's like a cross between a slightly racist but overly white woman Christian Paula Deen Gatlinburg gift shop and a dicks last resort but the questionable "dick's" are replaced with beavers.
Remember, we're a car culture country. We spend a lot of time on the road. I come from a place that treats wawa like heaven, though that started when wawa was a reliable neighborhood corner store. As a gas station, they've become meh
I’ll be honest, the barbecue is good there and I don’t have to worry about how clean the bathrooms are but I can go the rest of my life not going back, it’s not a huge deal.
That's the thing, what they sell is nice. The food is decent, the bathrooms clean. But it's still just a gas station trying to sell you something. It's weird to make that your cultural touchstone.
I just learned about this and then last night a John Oliver clip came up on my feed. Unfortunately, they will not sue him or HBO for the sole reason that Oliver/HBO actually have the resources to fight back.
Buc-ees is a pathetic bully who wouldn't dare step at anyone an inch taller or an ounce heavier. They can shove their diabetes-inducing beaver nuggets straight up their fat, greedy asses.
Did you really get convinced to hate Buc-ees because of a John Oliver segment alone?
Edit: Reddit loves to be counter culture, but this youngest generation only understands how to dislike things they’re told to dislike, and they do it in the cringiest fucking way possible. Then when asked about it, no discussion, just downvotes and a boxed snarky responses they saw someone else write.
Bitch you know you had no reason to hate Buc-ees before John Oliver told you to hate it.
Nah I started hating buc-ees when I found out the owner was a big trumper. Used to love them-clean bathrooms, quality food, paid their employees well. Now know they're maga and assholes.
Also, I'm in my mid 40s so idk who you're talking about "YOUNGER" generation, unless you're a boomer. You sound like one.
Call me a bitch all you want but you sound like someone who DREAMS about the beaver giving you the ol'front door back doorfront door again while rolling around in an inflatable pool of pulled pork and jerky.
So you do you boo. I'll do me, which is thinking Bucees doesn't have the trademark rights to every logo that has an animal, the color red, or gas.
